I was listening to Trials of Mana's ost and its fucking great. The difference in quality between this and the Secret of Mana remake are hysterically different.
these designs are from the 90s retard. I take issue with the anime aesthetics in the remake though, I wish they textured everything to look like water colors ala Legend of Mana
FF15 royal edition is really fucking good. I was wise enough to wait for them to polish it.
Andrew Campbell
Pretty obvious that the composer who did the music for the Secret of Mana remake was completely torn between recreating the music faithfully and trying to put their own spin on it and it suffers from it. It just ends up sounding so uncanny and wrong.
Adrian Price
To make a comeback, you need first to be relevant. Square-Enix hasn't been relevant since Square went bankrupt and the merge happened.
Ryder Hughes
This.
Nathaniel Wright
Call me when Xenogears gets a port to current systems and Brave Fencer Musashi gets a remake.
Nathaniel Phillips
SE hired multiple composers That's how cheap they were
Henry Martin
Xeno series is nintendo now
ff15 is still a very technically impressive game.
Joseph Lewis
That makes sense. Some of the music is actually not too bad plus the alternate versions of Danger and The Oracle that they didn't use despite being superior to the ones they used.
Aiden Howard
>DQ11 >Square

That's peak 80s and 90s fantasy, it's a throwback to the golden age of vidya.
ToM's character models look really nice and more or less what I expected them to in 3D.
The environments on the other hand... Jesus Christ. The original game's areas were pure eyecandy while those here might be some of the worst I've seen in years. It looks like some first draft with placeholder assets, no lighting, effects, details or shading applied and I don't expect it to change in any way up until release. People were shitting on stuff like Bloodstained but even that one looks miles better.
In fact, the whole game's visuals feel like it's running in MikuMikuDance.
Cameron Russell
Toriyama has a major sameface issue but his monster designs are some of the absolute best.
Asher Adams
yeah the lighting/no watercolors is bad.
I think you find the enviorments underdesigned beacuse they are pretty much 1 to 1 ports, which makes it strange that they decided to include a Z axis. Might have been smarter to keep towns and overworld 1 to 1 but change up dungeons.
Jason Wood
A Chrono Trigger remake like Trials would either be one of the most amazing things of the decade, or a complete shitshow.
Alexander Clark
Blame SE for the budget lol
Thomas Morales
I'd rather they remake it like Octopath and add some depth to the combat.
Jaxon Lewis
>I think you find the enviorments underdesigned beacuse they are pretty much 1 to 1 ports
Not only that but the texture quality is absolutely ridiculous for a 50$ game. The mountains at the beginning of Duran's intro have to be seen to be believed and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing initially started out as a mobile game.
>the improved FFXIII sequels come out >IS SQUARE MAKING A COMEBACK? >FFXIV A Realm Reborn >IS SQUARE MAKING A COMEBACK? >Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC >IS SQUARE MAKING A COMEBACK? GEE WIZ IT'S LIKE A WHOLE BRAND DOESN'T ACTUALLY GO RIGHT TO SHIT JUST BECAUSE OF A COUPLE SETBACKS, YA TORTANIC CHASING NIMRODS
Adrian Wilson
FF14 is trash though

>start with Kevin >stars in the nightsky are moving in front of moon
Yeah, Squenix is back.
Ethan Cruz
Just bought the ova and tv series collection because of the game on steam. Going to actually use my ps4 for something aka the only thing its good for. Movies.
>fantasy land You do realize it's not Earth right?
Nathaniel Bell
It ain't Hot Shots, either.
Jordan Collins
>DQ11 >Square >FF7R >decent
Zachary Roberts
you okay?
Wyatt Russell
>"Squeenix is back" >literally gave the dev team a small budget and told these saps to make it as soulful as possible >still get posts on Yas Forums how soulless the game is lmao
Gabriel Allen
Is Adventures of Mana worth it? >15 euros damn
Thomas Bell
Mana is one good game. FF7 has some good stuff, but way too much bad stuff mixed in and is getting by on the battle system and the merits of the original story (that they don't fuck up). One and a half good remakes doesn't mean they're back, especially since there hasn't been a good FF game since IX, KH3 was beyond horrible, and their other series have been forgotten.
>The World Ends With You 2 is happening and it's going to be kickass. So it's going to be completely different than the first?
Dominic Davis
You shut your whore mouth, squeaking Angela is peak cute. EEEE
Please tell me those mountains just aren't finished loading.
Ian Phillips
i believe a chrono remake could be possible in this style, main problem would be how the towns are part of the world map and duo/triple techs the way SE is doing shit now they wouldnt keep it turn based
Owen Taylor
>With DQ 11S, FF7R, and Trails of Mana, is Square on it's way on making decent games again?
>Square-Enix hasn't been relevant since Square went bankrupt and the merge happened. No matter how much you hate them they are relevant dumbass
Juan Gutierrez
It looks almost like PS2 game. They really could put more budget on it.
Chase Roberts
>i believe a chrono remake could be possible in this style CT has some of the best sprite work ever. There's no way any 3D remake would do the art justice.
Supposedly there was a big power struggle at Square Enix that's over now so they can just start making games. I'm really hoping for a big budget DQXI style Chrono Trigger/Cross remake.
Low effort, low budget. They only had budget to make sure the classes had unique models, and also some postgame I'm still going to play it and (hopefully) enjoy it though
>they can just start making games. Yeah, but are they capable of making good ones now without glaring flaws caused by poor decision making or gross incompetence?
Low budget doesn't necessarily mean low effort. It usually means less manpower to go around total and a lot more to do per person. Something has to give somewhere. Not that it really matters since all the player sees is the end product and "okay but think about the modeller/animator's feelings" isn't really worth much, either it's good or it's not. One thing you have to keep in mind though is that the more money is poured in, the higher the sales expectations become in a limited market. The remake seems to be rough around the edges in favour of trying to make a strong impression on stuff like character models and central towns and the sort of stuff you're likely to see before buying the game. Although it wouldn't have killed them to put more bushes there or something.
