They're getting filtered by the low ammo in level 1.
Why is everyone hating on it?
OLD GAME GOOD
NEW GAME BAD
Its hard to describe how different it is than 2016.
Doom 2016 is what you'd get if you showed a teenager Doom and asked him to make a new Doom game. Eternal is like if you showed a teenager Doom 2016 and asked him to make a new Doom 2016 game. Everything is amped up to 11 from a game that was already amped up to 11. Everything is faster, more deadly, bloodier, and theres just more and more and more of everything.
Personally I like it. Once you get some weapons that aren't shit and can carry a decent amount of ammo I'd say its better than Doom 2016 as video game ass video games go. Theres no doubt, though, that it is different enough for people to feel lost and confused.
Also the shotgun and assault rifle sound way too weak. The old shotgun sounded like a fucking piston of pain pounding demons into mush and the assault rifle was like a hammer hitting an anvil of death. The new ones sound like a baby sucking on bubble wrap and it sucks. The Doom 2016 shotgun was one of my favorite shotguns ever.
Mostly this. It's also worth noting that Doom 2016 looked like it was going to be complete shit. The multiplayer they released prior sucked, there were no review copies, the cover made it look like a shitty Halo knock-off... And then the game released and within 15 minutes everyone realized its single-player was surprisingly really fucking good.
Opposite thing is happening right now. Give it a few days before taking anything here seriously because most of the people hating on it haven't even played it yet.
It's literally the same group of Discord faggots as the RE2 shit posts, that's all. It's a very good game, a little early to tell how it stacks up against 2016, but seemingly better gameplay, worse story/atmosphere.
>controversy
There is none. Tortanic shitposters trying to turn the tides on a game that didn't exactly live up 100% to the hype.
My only issue is that it forces you to play in one play style which does get fun after you understand the ebb and flow of combat but doesn't have a ton of freedom in terms of weapon use. You basically just use EVERYTHING in the fight because you run out of ammo so fast and the chainsaw only replenishes so much, not to mention that there is no "free" melee option like in 2016 so you end up wasting ammo on scrubs because you need more health.
Haven't beaten it yet, got to the Soul Factory and I'm having a lot of fun though. I regret paying 60 bucks for it but that's because I'm a cheap bastard more than anything.

Stop playing new games you fucking millennialcucks!
Its a hella epic game for dummies and teens.
Playing nudoom is the equivalent of watching mainstream news.
Its the Joe Biden of fps games.
It caters to this oblivious, hyped idiot type consumer who lives on buzzwords and inanities.
Its as if a bunch of has beens and marketers gathered in a room and tried to think about what the youngsters like and then just shoved it into one game.
Its the feel of the game and everything surrounding it.
They essentially made a single player console arena shooter.
The fucking console font and style of the menus, the gun upgrades, the constant need to jump around and do acrobatics and the need to change weapons non stop.
like an xbox kiddie just drank a can of monster
Other than shit like 1ups, bethesda net and cutscenes sometimes interrupting the gameplay, i like it for what it is.
Maybe original doom fans might be disappointed, but on its own it's a solid aaa fps.
