nothing

It was kino, nothing went wrong.

nothing, it's a good console

They went cartridge instead of CD.

Noooooo that's a lie it was 32 bits more than PS!

>some lying cocksucker dropped the framerate on my webm
What is wrong with Sony fanboys.

cartridges and they pissed off nearly every third party dev who sony was happy to handout dev kits like candy to

>thinking this is much better
N64 3D was literally nauseating, even when I was 10. At least I could play Crash for hours without getting motion sickness.

The edit is more accurate to how the game actually performs on real hardware:
youtu.be/1VYkD2er96M?t=948

It shows the N64 couldn't keep up with what the PS1 was doing.

The middle one is for your cock obviously. If you spread your legs way out you can basically wrap the whole thing around your junk and shove the rumble pack up against your asshole, but controlling the game is a little awkward.

That webm is on real hardware you retard.

you're lying scum user.
N64> ps1 fan boy.

N64 has literally the best 3d game of all time nothing from ps1 comes close to mario64 or even oot

Good, it runs like shit no matter how it's painted.

That actually looks worse because now the framedrop when he hits the police station is far more pronounced.

>tries to pass off poorly cropped emulated footage as original hardware
nice try, retard.

Your weak constitution was also their fault? Nintendo really can't win with you faggots.

There's never been a mainstream console with fewer good games, or even games in general. Controller is trash, zero space on cartridges.

Genuinely the worst console that ever became mainstream. That's undebatable.

>blowing moisture into a cartridge instead of compress air
Yeah no shit your games aren't working

Look I know my decades old capture card is godlike and all, but this really is just S-video from a real N64.

Attached: MM64 intro.webm (640x480, 2.91M)

>Your weak constitution
Get off the internet, grandpa.

Two good games does not a great console make

The video defects sure look like a real N64.
Three point bilinear filtering, the fuck up when the textures are too squished, AA that only works when it wants.

That texture filtering that used on the N64 does not suit MML's art style at all.

Speaking of AA, here is how the game looks and runs with that disabled. Not much of a performance difference but it looks slightly sharper.

Attached: MM64 no AA.webm (640x480, 2.79M)

They also compressed the fuck out of the textures to fit on the cartridge, so what's perfectly legible pixel art on the PS1 is butchered pretty significantly. Doesn't help the N64 has way too much processing on everything, ruining the look of everything.

If the drawdistance wasn't so shit the N64 would look better here.

Soulless vs. Soul

At least the lines are straight on N64 lol

>if it didn't look like absolute fucking shit, it wouldn't look like absolute fucking shit
um ok

Everything but the drawdistance is better on N64 in that example.

Years werent kind on my poor n64 controllers. May them rip.
Amen

textures also have less detail on 64, render resolution is smaller too. What's better exactly?

The lines are straight.

so just that one thing then

I don't see any detail loss on the textures, they're all warped on Playstation. N64 has a much nicer shadow and anti aliasing as well.

basically every major n64 game ran at 20 fps
thats why it fucking sucked

get your eyes checked

Everything I said is right.

Only because you're retarded, texture detail is a noticeable step down on N64 because the 64 wasn't powerful enough for higher res textures.

There is literally no detail loss between the two.

Cartridges
They refused to move to discs which were cheaper to produce so all the third party devs made games for the ps1 instead

Umm, the umm textures aren't as pixelated.

PlayStation Zero didn’t get recognized by Nintendo or Sony

It was more powerful than the ps1 actually
But the ps1 was easier to develop for

>What went wrong?

Small library of actual good games. You can count them on one hand.

Attached: well damn.gif (368x656, 2.15M)

What game is this and why is it always the go-to comparison everyone uses for N64 vs PS1?

>It was more powerful than the ps1 actually
The N64 was a paper tiger, it fell short in every real world benchmark, although it could do more advanced rendering than the PS1.

:(

Mega Man Legends.
>why is it always the go-to comparison everyone uses for N64 vs PS1?
Because it was a shitty port to N64 and Playstation fanboys love to use it as an example for that reason.

I dont know the production cost on a cartridge but werent n64 games small af. Like >10mb. Compared to other consoles I mean

Pft I got this
Mario 64
Ocarina of Time
Super Smash Brothers
Ogre Battle 64
... Jackie Chan? fuck

It's more a matter of it's an early PS1 game but a super late N64 game that if the N64 was as powerful as it was claimed to be, should have had no problem running it.

It had a lot of problems running it.

Only a few games were ever 4MB, low budget titles were typically 8MB, 16MB is roughly the average with bigger games being 32MB. Only two N64 games were ever 64MB: Resident Evil 2 and Conker's Bad Fur Day. There are some outliers between 32 and 64 MB.

>December 1997 in Japan, 1998 in NA/EU
>early PS1 game
It's just a bad port.

King's Field is an early PS1 game, MML is just a joke.

1997 is early PS1. Game came out in 2000 on the N64, that's lots of years to get expertise with the system, N64 just couldn't handle how many polygons the PS1 was pushing.

Nothing? N64 was peak vidya when I was younger, everyone adored it. Only fucking weirdos had ps1s or dreamcasts.

>1997 is early PS1
The Playstation came out in 1994 in Japan, December 1997 is not early by any stretch of the imagination.
>Game came out in 2000 on the N64, that's lots of years to get expertise with the system
Capcom had barely any experience with the 64 and clearly didn't put much effort in. This is like saying the Saturn sucked at 2D because SOTN was poorly ported.

>December 1997 is not early by any stretch of the imagination. It's the start of the half-way point of the console, devs were still getting a grasp on things and especially at that time a lot of the foundation for 3D games was still being laid down. 1997 is absolutely early.
>This is like saying the Saturn sucked at 2D because SOTN was poorly ported
the difference is the SOTN port was a bad port, in MM64's case, the N64 is just a bad system.

December 1997 is objectively not early in the system's life no matter how you try to justify it.

no the n64 is cool and has good games
this is the opinion of basically everyone besides smelly neckbeards in the depths of Yas Forums

I remember watching a video explaining how much they achieved with little graphics wise, theres no spinning discs to worry about too
Later gen they got fucked though

Not enough third-party support, very few games in many genres. Especially fighting games (WATCH, someone will mention Killer Instinct Gold and MK4), shmups, beat-em-ups (I'm guessing someone will mention Fighting Force), puzzle games, and RPGs.

It should also be noted that two of those three games were also on PS1.

It is the start of the half way point, the PS1 still had half as many years as it was around as being Sony's flagship console. Mature PS1 is around 99, mature 64 is in 2000.

>Later gen they got fucked though
That was Nintendo's fault for pissing off every third party and killing a few.

Nothing, it was good. San Francisco Rush is one of the best racing games of all time. Of all time.
