When are mods going to ban you fucking shills? Noone is going to buy your trash because it looks like it's from the early 2000s and plays like it's from the 90s.
FUCK SCAVNIGGERS AND FUCK EXISTENCE
Careful not to reply to it
Anyway how do I git gud, I've explored a lot but whenever I die on a particularly long and hard day I get frustrated and quit and don't play for a while
>corona-chan sales on GOG and Steam
>Rain World is nowhere to be seen
it would have been THE perfect chance to introduce new gamers to this post-apocalyptic, life ending masterpiece.
Bro rain world is like 4 dollars on steam right now
The dev handed out a hundred keys on twitter a few days ago.
It's 80% off on Setam, you dunce.
Before I download this game, does this play like/ take inspiration from Another World?
One of my favorite games OP. It’s ok my top tier for sure. So happy I played it and there’s so much greatness in it. I can’t choose my favorite area or favorite creature honestly but what are yours?
It's a survival platformer with a squishy physicsy character that feels very awkward and weird to control at first. There is a surprising amount of mastery to be had in the controls but the game is mostly uninterested in teaching you any of it, though even experienced players will die somewhat often if they take too many risks.
What are these things even supposed to be?
Apparently it takes inspiration from it.
Honestly a game people should give a chance. Rally pissed me off at points but overall still think back to it.
A piece of advice I read is to just explore and fill out your map as much as possible without caring about how much you die, and then once you know how to get to where you need to go, then start worrying about karma. I started doing this, and the game became less frustrating. Only problem though is that the map is shit.
I loved Another World for the kino experience it was. It was a one-of-a-kind sidescroller for me back then. Rain World seems right up my alley.
in my top tier*

>not on Yas Forums
I'm glad I pirated that POS.
Yeah play it.
The world regions are separated by gates that open if you have a high enough level, which raises by hibernating and drops by dying.
Avoid the Drainage System or the Farm Arrays unless you hate yourself and want an early challenge in an already punishing game.
Spears will deflect off lizard heads. Aim for the meat. Use a stone instead to stun it first. Though really you should just avoid combat in most cases.
Apparently the 500M get said that bats are delicious.
As if we didn't already know.
KEK, get a load of this faggot, where did you got your taste? In a dumpster?
They are unkillable and fast as fuck so just hide when you heart them, even if they see you they will lose interest rapidly
I TURNED MYSELF INTO A PICKLE, PEBBLES!
I paused after starting a round of arena a few weeks ago, did something else for a few hours, and when I came back and unpaused, thousands of bats starting pouring out of the nests. It slowed my PS4 down to a crawl.

I want to feed that cat ?
a sslug cat iiiiiiis finee too
Pebbles did nothing wrong
Is this game any good?
I like Hollow Knight, how does it compare to that? Looks more brutal and lots of ways to die?
GOURMAND YO UFAT SLUGCAT
Not really comperable at all
The only thing metroidvania about Rain World is that the whole map is interconnected, but you dont gain any power ups and you can go anywhere on the map from the start
Does anyone have that picture of a million scavengers partying hard.
Or the gif of them having a smaller scale party in a shelter.
Best game ever. To me at least.
It isn't really like Hollow Knight. It's a difficult game., but it's not a Metroidvania. It's difficult in that cinematic platformer style.
Have this instead
Totally different gameplay loop in rain world. Rain world's a lot more about simulating a big predatory ecosystem and throwing you in the middle of it. Your moment-to-moment gameplay is focused on getting food, avoiding being eaten, and finding shelter before the rain comes. While exploring, if you want to.
>gay eastern nirvana plot shit
into the trash it goes
Completely different and fucking amazing. As far as I'm aware there is nothing else like it.
It's a weird platformer with light survival elements that has a huge focus on exploration, as in, exploring is how you make progress through the game and figure out how it works.
It can be extremelly punishing at times, specially when getting started, but it's best experienced blind since 90% of the fun comes from feeling like a defenseless animal exploring a hostile world.
I wish I hadn't lost my save with all the sandbox unlocks
Well damn, sign me up, you guys have definitely hyped it up
Any major downsides to it? Reviews for it seem to be decent but not shouting from the rooftops with praise (although game review sites are a bit of a joke these days so what does that matter)
I wish they hadn't updated the game with sandbox unlocks THREE FUCKING DAYS AFTER I FINISHED THE GAME
The critical response to the game is a travesty. But I think there's a large proportion of the people who have played it who really love it, which should say everything. I guess my only other warning is that try to keep an open mind about it because there are parts of the game that aren't fun and they're not meant to be.
It takes 3-4 to finish it again, streamed it to a friend a few days ago, but it takes some effort to get all the collectibles
Rain World is what taught me that the stereotypes Yas Forums has of game journos are true. The Steam user reviews are a lot more accurate.
That said, the devs changed the most common complaints in updates. Even if they casualised it a bit in the process :(
>unkillable
>he doesn't know
The Exterior is making me want to pull my hair out. I came from Chimney Canopy after several failed attempts at finding a checkpoint in Sky Island. From what I can tell going down from the first checkpoint in the area doesn't lead anywhere end but it seems like the path leading up has gaps and platform heights that are way too big to cross or scale without using spears as platforms. This wouldn't be an issue if it weren't that sometimes not enough spears spawn in the places (or even in the places leading up to) where I need them. Not to mention the crapload of lizards in the area force you to act fast and essentially lock you out of previous screens.
Am I missing something or am I not supposed to be here yet?
I realize that a lot of what makes this game interesting is that feeling of being far away from safety, in a place that you likely shouldn't be, but the fact that making ledges with spears (in at least one place back to back just to reach a particularly high platform far enough away from any walls to bar wall jumping) seems to be the only way to get through this area makes me wonder if I missed something earlier.
Funniest shit I ever seen.
It's much more doable if you brought a squidcada or a grapple worm. You can also go down to the Underhang.
>I've explored a lot but whenever I die on a particularly long and hard day I get frustrated and quit and don't play for a while
Brilliant recommendation for the game, kek
That's a really hard route you took.
Usually you'd come to the exterior from the other side
Shit game
Keep in mind that the game won't explain ANYTHING after the short tutorial, it really expects you to experiment learn by yourself.
Also I hope you are confortable with the idea of dying a lot to enemies and hazards you know nothing about and actively hide and set traps to kill you.
In case you find yourself struggling a lot, you can check out this page.

It has no real spoilers and teaches you about some moves that are very hard to figure out by yourself.
rain world is literally in my top 3 favourite games. there's nothing like it. also idk how they managed to have over 1000 rooms in the game and have each of them be memorable and distinctive
Any good mods? I got all the achievements.
follow the yellow thing
Cool thanks for all the info anons! Pretty exciting to have a game appear out of the blue (to my knowledge) which seems new and interesting. I'll probably just buy it and go in blind. Looking forward to being mercilessly devoured and figuring out how to not end up in another creature's stomach!
Is it a linear story or more sandbox-y? Also, is it receiving a lot of updates and dev care?
As freeform as it gets. Theoretically you can complete the game and not have seen half of the locations.
Thanks, but II remember a screenshot with even more scavs.
It was a work of art.
Occasionally you die because of bad luck and the camera is total bullshit in some areas. These are not common occurances, but they will make you mad at some point.
You can clear all the gaps on the way up just fine. The long jump can be extended a bit by holding the direction you're jumping at and righting yourself in the air by pressing up. Though you will need a spear to climb a wall after the spherical antenna.

>inb4 shilling
but i really think people should watch this video before deciding whether to get rain world or not.
otherwise you just set yourself up for disappointment
This one?
You are lucky you didn't find the sky island checkpoint. Getting out would've been way harder than getting in, and it was the wrong way anyways.
Yes!
Outer Wilds reminds me a lot of this game actually, but it's less deadly
