Been replaying this game lately as I was itching for a cyberpunk vidya and holy shit is it way better than I remember.
Deus Ex Thread
Agree
Played Mankind Divided a couple of months ago. People who avoid it because of the negative comments are missing out.
They really do, MD is a great game
Deus Ex is sci fi not cyberpunk
amazing series, currently replaying DX1 for the 5th time
Never managed to force myself to do loud playthrough. Always playing sneaky. Am I missing out?
I've put well over 500 hours into DX, if not more since it came out. But DX:HR isn't that bad, honestly.
Realistically, the level design is better and takes into account rooms with varying heights more, like vents in the air leading to beams, as opposed to "vent goes from room to room".
Combat is fun (though regen health is retarded), if you choose that option to fight.
The characters aren't actually that bad especially compared to the hilariously bad voices in DX.
Although Miss DuClare is waifu.
One use DLC was what put me off. Almost pulled the trigger on sales at least three times last year, but that's bs
>Deus Ex is sci fi not cyberpunk
How so?
>high tech low life
>transhumanism
>hackers and AI
>tech gangsters
>corporatocracy
I just ignored the DLCs. The base experience is great on its own.
The problem with the new games is the writing. They don't get what Deus Ex was all about!
>original: rich and well-connected people conspire to override the will of the people and control the world in secret
>modern: boo hoo the poor oppressed cyborgs
That’s not Deus Ex.
It's just items, and you better off ignoring them anyway
Mankind divided is a good game. Not as good as HR but its worth $€20.
yeah but I got everything for 5 bucks on a sale so I don't really care
did anyone even play the new games? the main theme in mankind divided was false flags the illuminati sent out
Deus Ex is more cyberpunk than cyberpunk 2020.
Deus Ex is also more believable because it didn't come out in the 1980s.
>did anyone even play the new games?
No, but local retards got way too triggered over aug live matters
yes it is, it says so in the file name. Cant you read?
BTFOs Trannypunk
God if only California could look like this.
Its so sad that America is mostly rural and low density.
You are aware that Bladerunner takes place in LA right?
>NOOOOOO MY CLASSIC COMPUTER RPG CAN'T GET A SEQUEL WITHOUT ADDING THE SWIMMING SKILL WHAT WILL I EVER SO AAAAAAAAAAAAAH GEP GUN MEME
i still lose my shit at how much the devs had to cut out of HR because of square enix being massive retards who fucked over all western devs while throwing money at jap ones.
They did the same with MD again, these games are stil good after all that mededeling.
They could have been GREAT games without square shitting it up all the time.
>They could have been GREAT games
Not with that writing.. or that gameplay.. or those graphics. The games were destined to be nothing more than mediocre at best.
>DUDE ALL CONSPIRACY THEORIES ARE REAL
>AREA 51
>ALIENS
Deus Ex and Ocarina of Time are easily the most overrated games of all time.
The original DX and the two latest ones are great.
Og is best tho
I only know of them cutting the Montreal segment to that single building you meet Eliza Cassan, is there more?
Keep seething
upper hengsha hub, montreal hub, both would have been big, also a lot of sidemissions in the hubs that made it.
Still trying to clear up the Revision achievements. It's been fun so far but last time a random NCR guy headshoted me, to which I rage quit that same instant. Half an hour lost lol
Finished my foxiest hound/pacifist/i never asked for this run last week
yeah rip
>Square Enix greenlits a new DX game
>tells Eidos Montreal that the game needs to be appealing for the general masses
>they make the best they could to streamline everything that made the original great without completely dumbing it down
>"NOOOOOO THIS ISN'T DEUS EX"
I guess you must be pretty happy now that the franchise will stay in limbo forever
the faggot avengers cashgrab is out so that means they're back on deus ex right?
Yeah, false flags involving muh oppressed cyborgs. It's not a theme, word you're looking for is plot.
Don't know why the Illuminaty even bother about augs at that point anyway, 80-90% of the world get rid of augmentation after the incident
I was so disappointed with MD ending, what the fuck was that? The gameplay, the ost, the graphic, the atmosphere, the story, everything was perfect until the ending
from what we can tell, the actuall game was cut in half, the endboss was supposed to be the midgame boss.
And the second half of the game would have been sold as a new game the next year.
all because of square enix, they also pushed the devs to swarm the game with a minigame that had nothing to do with the actual game and a shitload of dlc.
And when MD had a bad reception&sales because of all the bullshit square enix forced th devs to put the second half in the backburner and started them on a new game.
They are now working on a shitty marvel avenger game instead.
>upper hengsha hub
HNNNNNNNNNGH that would've been pretty great. Kind of like Midgar, first the shitty ghetto slums, then the rich sectors.
IO Interactive did well by fucking off from them. Holy shit are they just like Capcom was 10 years ago
IO had no choice, because SE consider any game that doesn't sell a billion copies a failure they had no chance to please them with the Hitman series so they got put up for sale. At least SE were good enough not to keep the franchise rights too.
The items are pointless. They're just to give you shit at the beginning you'd get normally by playing the game. And IIRC most of it is lethal guns which is the worst way to play, so who cares
The only DLC that sucks due to implementation is the Tavros office DLC. It is very clearly a mission that's just clipped from the game and slapped on as an "addition." Exactly how Missing Link was for HR, except Missing Link is kind of jarring when included in the flow of the game as it is in the Director's Cut, whereas this thing wouldn't have been.
The bank vault thing DLC (can't remember the name off the top of my head) also could've been included in the game, but it's not very obviously ripped from it, so it's ok as it is. And the prison DLC is fucking great.
zoom zoom
>he doesn't know
They're not actual aliens, retard. You'd know that if you actually played the game.
>Area 51
>model something very clearly out of the stereotypical representation of an alien
>"b-but they're genetic experiments by the Illuminati"
I can call the turd I took this morning a Frappuccino but that doesn't change what it clearly is
HR > IW though. IW's shared ammo pool, console HUD, tiny levels etc. were just not very good.
Go back and watch early stuff, the Barrett fight appeared to be in Hong Kong, the area right before Jensen goes into the pods and on the ship.
Then there is the upper Hengsha and Montreal hubs and I assume London. The group who attack you are featured in the tie-in novel and the leader lives in London.
I imagine London should have been a hub in MD because that's where the last level is set.
t. watched Ross' video and hasn't actually played a single Deus Ex himself
move to fucking china then. you'll soon realise why cyberpunk is a dystopian setting
I played HR once and enjoyed the fuck of it but dropped it at the DLC. Replayed it recently and stopped at the DLC again. It fucking kills the flow of the game and everything becomes so fucking tedious especially when playing a stealth pacifist on highest difficulty.
>sound propagation
lol what a load of crap
name one difference between how sound works in HR and in IW
Pirate the original version and DLC separately.
Cyberpunk 2077's Deep Dive video made it seem like a Deus Ex in that there's supposedly lots of interiors and the ability to go through them however you want depending on build (ie guns blazing, hacking, finding your way around via ventilation shafts...).
Is there any way it can end up being somewhat good? There's only so many times I can replay DE, HR and MD.
i want to fuck allison stanek
I actually haven't played the Director's Cut version. I bought the original game and the DLC separately on Steam in like 2013, but didn't play it until 2017 or something. Wasn't going to repurchase a game I already had, so I just played that version. I do now own the DC, and may play that version some day, but I know that DLC integration will suck
Played for 10 mins and uninstalled while laughing at how far the franchise and Square has fallen.
Style over substance.
Its definitely looking like an open world Deus Ex with some GTA elements. Which sounds fine to me.
seems like a bit of a mashup between fallout and deus ex so maybe
the best parts of deus ex has always been the world building and subtext you get from spending literal hours combing through every level, taking out every guard and opening every terminal
like i only recently found the marchenkvo kill switch in MD on my 7th or so playthrough
Even if they got it, they wouldn't have the balls to make a game based on those type of ideas.
If they had that kind of balls they wouldn't work on someone else's IP.
Would be nice if there was a deus ex 2 that ignored everything but base game and was focused around modern conspiracy theories, from pizzagate to kalergi plan, to replacement migration, to lizard hybrids, to cornifalication, to chemtrails, to slowrelease tranny vaccination, to male infertility.
Does any other game pull 30 seconts to midnight feel off as good as DX? I love this setting, not quite post apocalypse but you can just feel it coming.
For some reason that gas station in california really fucks with me, it's middle of nowhere, some mundane abandoned ruins and just a few hobos living there.
Wish this didn't have the switching between first and third person and just stuck with one.
I really liked that aspect of the game personally. It felt effortless.
I like it
