Who in their right mind would do this?

Who in their right mind would do this?
What a disaster of an ending, the amount of embarrassment I felt for everyone involved. It just doesn't work or make any sense.

I agree. Jessica hardly interacts directly with the MC, meanwhile even if she's not a party member the princess has unique conversations with the MC for pretty much everything that happens in the story.

i’m not surprised OP would get offended at straight marriage

t. horsefag

Holy shit what an ugly bitch I want to crack her stupid fucking forehead open.

I know DQ heroes are supposed to be blankish slates for you to insert into, but it hasn't worked for me since DQ4, so I see Eight as an individual entity. And I don't want him to marry my waifu. He can have the horse. Jessica is for me.

>Even she is puzzled about it.
Fucking kek

JESSICA IS CUTE!!!

Tits aside, what else is Jessica good for?

She was into incest anyway, she was damaged goods that couldn't be salvaged.

What sort of father would let his daughter go adventure dressed like this?

a dead one

/ss/

What is Yuji Horii's obsession with making the version with more options and content stuck on the shittier hardware?

Because he goes to the most popular console and nintendo is consistently the most popular console in japan

She doesn't have a father you see in the game. Only a mother.
No wonder she dresses like that without a father figure to set her straight.

If you've ever played a base game DQ AND the remakes you learn quickly that the extra content is never worth the lessened experience.
Its always just a bonus dungeon with palette swapped enemies. It has never not been that.
"definitive" editions of DQ games are a meme.

Most retarded and false thing I've ever seen.

I've never played any of the re-releases on principle. I don't appreciate being told to get fucked for being an early buyer, and be expected to buy the game again, but this time an uglier version, just to get a cutscene where I get to marry a girl of my choice. I maybe understood them doing it with VIII, because there was several years between those, but this whole XI situation makes it clear that they knew what they were doing.

name a single "definitive edition" of DQ that wasn't just an extra dungeon with palette swapped enemies.

tbf that's how e.g. FF5 and Chrono Trigger were as well. Very low effort bonus content

Also, she's got a terrible relationship with her mother. They discuss all the time.

>battles are initiated through the ield instead of random encounters (except when traveling on the ocean). Monsters that are recruitable for the Monster Arena are marked with a special icon.
>fast-forward mode can be set in battle, hastening battle animations
>the alchemy pot can produce multiples of the same item from the game's onset, and creations are now instant instead of requiring time to pass.
>a quick menu on the lower screen allows easy access to Baumren's Bell (to ride the Great Sabercat) as well as Zoom. As expected, there is also a minimap on the bottom screen.
>stat tweaking and balancing (nerfed Helm Splitter and Twin Dragon Lash, and the final boss is less of a pushover, etc)
>Morrie and Red join the party
>new story scenes added
>more post-game dungeons
>monster arena challenges
>new Costumes for Yangus, Angelo, Red, and Morrie (Only Jessica and Hero had alternate clothes in the original)
>new Recipes
>new Equipment
>new Monsters
>marry Jessica
>save your skill points for later instead of having to use them all at once when you level up

They just take too long to complete. I like their length but I don't want to replay it again a year later. 10 years later? sure.
I'm not a brand loyalty guy so I don't care what system it goes to mostly, I do care that most of them go to inferior systems that sacrifice heavily on audio/visuals just for useless grindan content.

I've played DWVII for over 400 hours and still grind out master classes evey once in a while. I love the series, and even I will say the definitive editions are a waste.
Hell, I have 2 of the blue slime controllers and the metal slime controller. I play DQ almost daily still. I still don't understand the weird rivalry with the games. I mean I do get it (nintendo fans are legit insane) but I just don't buy into it as a participant.

I mean, I don't really give a shit about the princess either. At least Jessica's hot and will give me lots of kids, that's really all that matters to a would-be hero king.

Every single one. You get a whole extra two characters in 8, and that's the least of it. Not to mention, you get two new onus dungeons as well. Honestly have you even played a single DQ and it's remake?
Time for you to move the goalposts.

Monsters that were battle arena monsters already had a difference you could notice on the overworld. Pay attention.
Why do you want to fast forward thru the gameplay
Why do you want to fast forward thru the gameplay, again? Getting a Timbrel of Tension meant something, getting the second was a real boon and next leveling the game. Getting it handed to me isn't as satisfying.
why do you need things to be sped up so much or one button?
Morrie and Red have no reason to be in the party and add nothing to the story. Morrie is comic relief hahas and Red is just part of Yangus' past (and his whole character is moving on from his past in peace)
The story was already tonally complete
the bonus dungeon I mentioned
the palette swapped enemies I mentioned
costumes are a waste, I'm playing a jrpg, not the Sims
You could always save your skill points

I've played literally every DQ game in existence, even downloadable titles like Slime Wars on the DS. I've emulated defunct japanese phone game shovelware with the DQ label as well.

Every remake/remaster is a waste of time.

>You get a whole extra two characters in 8

Really? Who?

Red being added to 8 was the biggest misstep in tone ever. Yangus' entire character is about him moving on from his past and willingly doing so when he's clung to it for so long.
Bringing back his old fling is just wrong for his character. Him telling her their past was fine the way it was and he'd rather remember her that way was exactly how it should have been, and how it was in the original game.

They never sacrifice on audio though, that is one thing that is consistently improved on every game, and every rerelease sans 8 and 11 improves on the visuals. And the content is never just useless grindan content.
Honestly, I think in no simpler way to put this, that you're an absolutely huge fucking retard.

Morrie and Red.

Best girl

the remake of 8 has abysmal sound quality. It isn't the game's fault, the system just has shit audio capability.
The content is always useless grindan. This is coming from someone with over 400 hours in DWVII on my 3rd playthru (because I always miss something on the Immigrant town).

Morrie works best as an enigma that you only get to see as you travel and glimpse into his wacky world.
Red has no reason to exist in the story aside from being a cautionary tale on why Yangus' shouldn't be holding onto his old ways so ardently.
Adding them as playable characters lessens what they were to the original game in all regards.

>I've played literally every DQ game in existence, even downloadable titles like Slime Wars on the DS. I've emulated defunct japanese phone game shovelware with the DQ label as well.
Well then it's a big fucking shame you aren't any smarter for it and you're still as ignorant as someone who hasn't played a single one. That's a lot of wasted time if you ask me.

you sound upset.

I did.
I hate games that force a romance on you so fucking hard. Especially when its mainly one sided because your character doesn't fucking talk. The perfect ending would have been not getting married at all and continuing your adventure, but since that wasn't an option, I went for the next best thing

post some dope ass music from DQ8

I disagree. Both having way more character greatly enhances them to me. Not that I didn't like them in the original, but they work even better in the remakes, especially Morrie.

What could I have to be upset about? You're the one that, since you claim to think the definitive versions are a meme and useless, and who also claim to have played every one in existence, must have spent a lot of time in anguish "wasting your time" playing them.

>You could always save your skill points
not the user you quoted, but are you sure about that? I seem to remember that the PS1 version made you spend all of your points bfore you could exit the screen. I know there was also a bunch of QoL changes to the 3DS version (i played them both). the worst part of 3DS version was taking away super sayian from MC.

You have to remember the Japanese version had the shitty midi soundtrack and that the 3DS version was the version that got the orchestra.

The 3DS had the shitty soundtrack, but the orchestra soundtrack was able to get patched in if you had a CFW 3DS.

the 3DS version was literally butchered user. There were audio pops in every track. It took modders to fix it.
There have been audio pops in every soundtrack since the 3DS era. Every offshoot game like Heroes and Builders also has audio popping.

This is just a blatant lie. Like, a baffling lie, because it's so extremely easily disproven that someone with zero knowledge of the franchise could find out in 5 seconds.

Not going to bother to btfo a mentally ill person again, but everything listed is a objective improvement.

none of the additions add anything but padding, or paradoxically taking away the padding so you get instant gratification.
Nothing adds deeper meaning to the story, no new enemies are a challenge, and the superboss will just be a palette swap of an already existing boss.
Literally every iteration is like this.

>stuff that adds nothing to the game

When are we getting a DQ game where the hero becomes a king very early into the game and the rest of his quest involves reclaiming his kingdom from bitch ass demons? It could have kingdom management mechanics, like establishing trade routes and making sure your subjects are well taken care of.

the closest you will get is the Builders series, which is strongly like DQ7. The world is fucked and you restore it to somewhat peace island at a time. Each island you free adds things that makes freeing the next easier.
Heroes and Swords both have you freeing the kingdom as the charge of the king proper instead of that kingdom just being a single stop on your journey.

I mean isnt that pretty much VIII. Yah you're not the king but it hardly makes a difference when the king is with you all the time and you're working under him. I cant see how it would be done any differently, and remain Dragon Quest.

it wouldn't work. The Hero in DQ is always some dude just going about his life when adventure calls. Being the king would kind of not gel with that.
Imagine Keifer being the lead of a game.

The majority of bonus content in DQ VII for the 3DS was strictly good.
The two extra party members who feel properly fleshed out and an actual part of the team.
New cut scenes to discover which flesh out the game's story, like the previously unseen first Heir of the Sage and his untimely demise before the start of the game.
A new full-fledged dungeon and boss that are genuinely good, which also has two different conclusions depending on which party you take into the dungeon.
Lots of quality of life improvements.
A post-game dungeon which acts as a boss rush, ending in a super-boss battle which has recurred throughout the DQ series.

Honestly it's only the optional Jessica wedding ending that's bad. That should've never been included.

It was garbage but I mean, it is optional. People were asking for it since DQVIII came out. Terrible people. With terrible tastes. But I'm sure it made the sale for a lot of folks.

Jessica CHADS rise up

Attached: dqviii jessica hero.jpg (560x728, 86.54K)

I'm just of the mindset that fighting a different color superboss I've already seen before is a waste, and that is the majority of the appeal to the remakes.
I especially don't want to do it in 8 where the original superboss was already 7-8 iterations of a palette swapped dragon.

A genius father who wants her to bring the female adventurer friends she makes over to visit.

>played this game 3 times for 300 hours, each time stopping right the final boss because I could'nt bear to finish it
>ending spoiled like this, 13 years later

fuck you op

>all of these faggots not wanting based Jessica

lmao why talk so confidentially about games you've never played? 2 & 6 you're a prince, 9 you're a celestial being.

>300 hours, each time stopping right the final boss because I could'nt bear to finish it
Not OP's fault your're clinically retarded

She actually has a cool hot head personality and isn't afraid to show it when she's angry, unlike the coomers like
