I know you hate consoles with all your guts even after you portbeg their exclusives and pirate them, but hear me out you shouldn't see next gen consoles as a threat or inferiority, the leap forward they're taking with hardware can only be beneficial for PC gaming games have always been build around console specs, they're the lowest common denominator and no developer in its right mind would pander exclusively to the crowd with the top end hardware, New consoles will have 8 cores CPUs for the first time, NVME PCIE gen 4 SSDs and GPUs that aren't even out on PC yet, taking advantages of features that have been on PC for years but no one has really cared to implement Raytracing: came out first on PC but you had to pay a premium for it to have actual acceptable performance and so far there's only a handful of games properly implementing it, with consoles having it on hardware level we can expect to see more and more games using it on all platforms and better yet, proper optimization for it SSDs: games have literally never been built around SSD speeds, now with consoles up to date we can expect to see games doing shit we've never seen besides fast loading times 8 Core CPU: same thing, you might have 8 or 16 cores in you rig right now but no game properly uses them all, let alone being built around them in first place, consoles will bring 8 cores treadreading to industry standard
game minimum requirements will changes drastically when next gen drops at the end of the year, but in the end PC gaming will get the refined product and experience it in a way consoles will never do, all i'm saying is lets see this new gen as something positive for PC, not the other way around
I think you greatly overestimate how much most PC-only users care Not much time to throw stones and feel threatened when your gaming machine has a library of nearly every game ever made and also does everything else I'm actually pretty hopeful for this generation of consoles, even if I'm likely never going to indulge. My console cousins have been stuck with barebones performance on most games for a very long time, it'd be nice to see everyone embracing 60hz gameplay so we can all stop arguing about dumb shit like sales and performance and start arguing more about the games.
Christopher Edwards
Epic strawman breh.
Elijah Torres
people who play on PC do so for a good reason and unless you can install desktop version of Windows 10 on Series X, nothing will make them buy a console. the fact that consoles are finally getting SSDs and a decent core count will only make gaming PCs better.
it's people like me who were considering going PC for next gen for cost-efficiency reason who maybe got a little thrown by Series X. it looks like a competent machine.
Wyatt Smith
bruh I gave up on consoles after the PS2 era died down, there literally is no point in getting them. Also my PC cost $1500 in 2016.
Sebastian Baker
>will only make gaming PCs better. considering how low AMD sets the bar for 12TF GPU, mid range true 4k card may be finally here in couple years.
Brody Gray
PC gamers like when consoles get more powerful. PC elitists are the ones who get butthurt about it.
Nathan Myers
personally i'd rather not enable a dev to shit out unoptimized trash that runs 30fps even with good specs
Sebastian Green
tldr It's another "power of the cell" and console kiddies are falling for it again.
Eli Bennett
imagine spending 5x for a worse experience lmao. but muh witcher in 100fps
Easton Gomez
didn't read
Henry Hughes
Not at all, the Xbox SeX has very easy to understand specs that compare very well to current PC hardware.
Jace Scott
enjoy your crisp 720p 20fps
Isaac Harris
I didn't bother reading that shit but anyway, consoles are shit and you can go choke on a fucking dick.
Robert Martinez
Only took then 40 years.
Gabriel Ramirez
remember when the 360 released and the equivalent PC hardware to outmatch it costed around 1K or wasn't out yet?
Blake Moore
>consoles censor all cleavage >meanwhile pc can mod characters to be nude
why would you choose console?
Dominic Baker
go check every next gen console thread, you'll see mustards spewing shit about unimpressive specs or how they will still be locked at 30fps
Jonathan Adams
OK buddy, keep jerking off to marketing Can I play in 144fps yet? Can I play online without an extra fee yet? Can I have in real, not upscaled 4K yet? Does "ultra" graphics setting on console mean the same as "ultra" on PC yet? Can I play competitive games yet? Can I play strategy games yet? Can I play shooter games without retard mode aimbot yet? Is modding possible yet?
And no, I don't see consoles as beneficial in any way. They're the reason for all the pandering to retards that is going on and making video games industry as a whole go to shit the way it does. Fuck you, fuck your thread and fuck your cuckoldry box.
Robert Miller
>but in the end PC gaming will get the refined product and experience it in a way consoles will never do, all i'm saying is lets see this new gen as something positive for PC, not the other way around what makes you think im excited to buy next gen consoles? i know the advantages PC has over consoles, its precisely why i want PC gaming to improve, lmao
Robert Brown
>implying console games are worth playing >implying I need to pirate anything for good games >implying consoles have ever threatened PC >implying the threat to PC isn't console plebs moving to PC and buying shitty games and console ports >implying games must be built with console plebs in mind who can't even use a keyboard for gaming because it has too many buttons >implying raytracing isn't just a fucking meme for dumb idiots who cream their pants over shiny gwaffix and don't care about gameplay, mod/map tools, or running your own server The sad part is you console plebs never even knew why PC gaming was always better and when you do finally come to PC, you never buy games with those features... you just buy console ports and other trash. Supporting lazy console port trash on PC is why PC gaming has gone downhill massively. The publishers have learned that they can just lazily port games or cut features and you fake converts still buy the shit anyway. It's why Thief 4 was utter trash compared to 1 or 2 in every aspect of the game other than "MUH GWAFFIX".
That only happens because the console companies make deals with hardware companies. No games ever require that top-end stuff and if all you care about is "MUH GWAFFIX" you should fucking necklace yourself because morons like you ruin gaming and should just go the fuck back to consoles.
Brayden Smith
pc elitiest love it too because it means consoles hold us back less
I for one welcome more powerful consoles, it means we will get larger scale games for me to use on my superior machine
Jackson Lopez
I'll be honest I didnt read your post I just assumed it was pro console and replied accordingly
You think you'll be getting better games, the creatively-bankrupt industry only has shiny gwaffix to sell you, buddy. It's 2020, not late 90's.
Evan Barnes
i think the people genuinely mad with next gen console specs are faggots with toasters running F2P shit and mobas, i see absolutely no reason to be mad about next gen consoles, i know Sony exclusives are garbage for the most part but i know multiplats will improve dramatically and people with high end rigs will finally push the boundaries of their systems besides running X game at 200FPS
Jacob Fisher
the sexbox is almost exactly in line with the current performance curve relative to PC where the xbox 360 was in 2005 and the original xbox was in 2001.
it was only the last generation that was the weirdly gimped outlier.
Landon Reyes
Because consoles hold games back, dipshit. Console retards are a big enough customer base that most devs don't wanna miss out on console sales, but that means they need to compromise massively in terms of the games' quality.
Or do you mean the hardware? Because despite the bullshit being spouted around here, building a PC would always get you the same performance at a lower price, or alternatively you could buy more expensive hardware to have performance that is not even possible on consoles. Consoles #1 selling point is and always was "this is a box that just works, it's ok for you to be too retarded to know how it works".
So once again: no, I'm not happy about the existence of consoles, not even in a roundabout way.
Evan Scott
>it's people like me who were considering going PC for next gen for cost-efficiency reason who maybe got a little thrown by Series X. it looks like a competent machine. it does look like a competent machine, reminds me of the 360 days, but then again, these boxes will come out later this year and by then im pretty sure we will have RDN2 and Ampere Gpus out for a relatively good price/performance ratio
Ryan Martinez
Ps4 and xbox already had 8 cores 6 years ago and PCs are only now needing 6 or more threads for gaming dumb console buyer Your not even released box is already outdated compared to a 2080ti and a 9900k (2 year old hardware), and SSDs have been a thing for 10 years, with higher speeds than sata 3 being irrelevant for videogames. Keep falling for marketing gimmicks and talking about "muh value compared to a 10K PC" when your shitbox is already outdated and will once again hold gaming hostage to its shit hardware for the next 6 years
Aaron Kelly
>Or do you mean the hardware? Because despite the bullshit being spouted around here, building a PC would always get you the same performance at a lower price, or alternatively you could buy more expensive hardware to have performance that is not even possible on consoles be real with me for a second here bro, honestly, how much a rig with the same specs as SeX would cost your right now? i think you'd need around these specs RTX2070 super Ryzen 5 3600 PCI-E gen 4 capable mobo 1TB NVME SSD gen 4 compatible just go to PC part picker and calculate this shit, don't even include the price of peripherals, and tell me its under the expected next gen price around 499$ at the highest
Charles Young
you don't need a PCIE4 SSD for anything other than lab tier data simulations. though i suppose it doesn't hurt to future proof.
the idea of needing it for gaming over a standard issue NVME SSD is a complete fantasy.
David Cox
in a year twice performance of that will cost what your list costs now.
Christopher Smith
Stop falling for marketing moron You think numbers like FLOPS mean shit? Benchmarks are the only real test that matters, and of course you can't have those until the devices are actually released. When I see the framerates/quality they can get out of the consoles, I will tell you what PC parts you need to match that performance. And considering how it was with all the previous console gens, I can confidently say the PC will get you that performance cheaper.
Parker Davis
>Your not even released box is already outdated compared to a 2080ti and a 9900k that's good and all but then again, how much do you have to pay for those 2 components alone RIGHT NOW? and again, raytracing is been out for 2 years all you have to show for it is a bunch of faggots saying RTX is a meme and a handful of games actually implementing it, all im saying is last gen consoles held back multiplats, whats so bad about them catching up?
Eli Ramirez
>$499 your forgetting to add in atleast 6 years of payed online $60 x 6 = $360
your console actually costs $860 for the generation and you can build a pc thats superior for $860
Adam Bennett
Brain dead consolewarring negrosity aside, it's a good thing that consoles are gaining some advantage. We have been stuck with garbage looking games for about two fucking decades because consoles were so shit, and developing for PC only wasn't cost effective. Maybe now we'll actually get games that will push the hardware they're running on, instead of blurry looking horseshit that looks like my dick because it has to run on consoles. I can't speak for other PC users, which is why your entire post is cheap bait and a straw man. Also, fuck you, you consumerist, brand-loyal waste of space.
Luke Taylor
lmao are you going to add the energy bill on top that too faggot?
Aiden Adams
>brand-loyal waste of space. >go to PC building thread >muh amd >muh intel >muh nvidia lmao fucking hypocrite
Sebastian Scott
>its all marketing! those boxes are using GPUs that haven't hit the PC market yet faggot, all i'm saying is that its good to have them catching up to current PC specs
Henry Morgan
consoles have to pay for online while pc doesnt if you want to know how much it costs for the generation you need to factor in the price of your paid online
Owen Nguyen
>sells 1070ti >gets a 3060/3070 or AMD equivalent >lasts for another 5+ years at 1440p120fps WOW so hard bros.
He's right though, you retard. No, no one's gonna include the energy bill because that's (roughly) the same for PC and console. Same with the ISP bill. But the extra online fee is something that exists only on the console, so unless you intend to never play online, yes, it's something you should include.
Wyatt Powell
paying for online isn't going to make the console perform better or worse, you can also share accounts on consoles and split the costs and you can also not pay for online and enjoy single players games, but thanks for moving the goalpost
Anthony Ward
Why is RIGHT NOW important, when you cant get ps5 and xbox RIGHT NOW. Anyone who has that hardware wouldnt need to upgrade until ps5 pro or whatever gets released in 3 years anyways
Xavier Bell
i have that same model too, i sure hope there's people ready to pay that much for a 10series GPU after it gets further outdated by the 3000 series how much do you plan to sell it for?
Mason Myers
those 2 components wont magically go down in price by the end of the year, lmao, i still find 1080tis at around 400$
Jaxon Lee
They havent hit the console market either retard. And by the time they will, theyll be outclassed by next gen Nvidia GPUs anyways
Nathan Bailey
do you even read the posts you reply to? for the last time: YOU DON'T KNOW THE SPECS YET there are no benchmarks. all you know about them is what the marketing departments told you, some numbers that give literally zero information about how the games will actually run. we can start comparing performance once we see them in action, and only then.
Wyatt Bailey
and thats why i hope Ampere is an actual leap over the 20 series and they dont charge a premium for it
Adam Ramirez
sharing requires you to be in the same house you can share a pc too
nobody is buying consoles to play exclusively offline
Kayden Evans
>YOU DON'T KNOW THE SPECS YET yeah its all made up numbers and zero demos running on them youtu.be/oNZibJazWTo
Justin Robinson
One of the best parts is how designing for SSDs will bring down the install size bloat.
Evan Walker
>nobody is buying consoles to play exclusively offline consoles are aimed to poor normal faggots, you think all them can pay 60$ annually?
Benjamin Martin
>paying for online isn't going to make the console perform better or worse not paying is going to make them not perform at all, because you won't be allowed to play are you seriously going to defend that bullshit scheme?
James Stewart
>those 2 components wont magically go down in price by the end of the year 3000 series is coming out this year so the older components will go down in price or you can get a 3060 which will most likely be better than the 1080 anyway
Andrew Garcia
>not paying is going to make them not perform at all, because you won't be allowed to play you dont have to pay for online to play single player shit which is most of the first party exclusives on consoles, lmao
Kevin Diaz
consoles are aimed at children they get their yearly subscription paid by parents at christmas
either way the parents are still spending $60 every year + the cost of the console
do you think zoomers will just not play with their friends?
Jace Collins
add the energy bill on top of that faggot, dont forget rent and services as well
Juan Torres
how many people do you think buy consoles with no intent of playing online? 10%? 5%? 1%?
remember what year we're in this isnt 1990
Adrian Sanders
you pay energy and rent regardless of the system you're playing on.
you dont pay for psn or xbox live if you play on pc
Nolan Ramirez
>better consoles mean the same fucking games but less optimized >this being good in any way
Gabriel White
Then you have to buy a computer desk, chair, monitor, mouse and keyboard. Last time I checked, 27” 4K HDR monitors were around the same price as a 40-50” 4K HDR TV
Nathaniel Roberts
Hard to be excited for all this new tech when most big budget games are fucking trash. I stopped giving a fuck sometime around 2008.
David Richardson
You have to buy a couch, TV stand, and a fucking TV. There are equivalents for everything aside from M+KB, but you can buy both of those for a grand total of $20 if you want the same quality as a shitty controller.
Aaron Torres
I already have all those things and theres an equivilent purchase for consoles too
