The XOX put out full 4k resolution using a old mechanical drive with 140MB/s speed, feeding into slower GDDR 5 RAM on a smaller bus. The XSX SSD will feed 4.8GB/s of data into faster GDDR6 RAM. There will.be no bottlenecks from the XSX point of view. If you say there will be, well that doesnt bode well for PS5, as it has slower RAM than the XSX, so it's bottleneck will be worse.
Sure the PS5 will load up PS5 games twice as fast as XSX. Sony want games loaded up in one second. Which means the XSX will load games up in two seconds. I'm not sure anyone is going to care about that in the slightest.

Backward compatibility is fine for xbox series X because the console has no games. Its a distraction. Its basically the same reason Nintendo has been porting games tear after year. Its a way to fill the gaps between releases of new games.

PS5 is 5.5 GB uncompressed, Xbox Series X is 2.5 GB uncompressed. The 4.8GB Xbox are listed from compressed speeds, PS5 is 7-8 GB/s compressed

I would think it'll be more expensive in the long run because you're looking at getting higher clocks out of low CUs while for the Xbox SeX prices are gonna fall in time since you're not looking to push that much performance out of more CUs so you can easily get higher yields.

This is definitely a game changer, and I'm saying that as a professional developer who has built a 3D engine from scratch in the past. The problem with what we're discussing right now is that it's really, really hard to communicate why this is a game changer to people who don't have the technical knowledge to understand what's going on under the hood in games, and you can't point to a specific example of possible results and say "this is how it's going to be" since the results will depend entirely on what the developer wants to achieve.

It's a big deal. If the new Xbox doesn't have something similar (and no, simply having an SSD isn't good enough), the PS5 will have a big advantage in terms of graphical fidelity, weaker GPU or not.

Of course Series X is more powerful. It's the One X to a Series S they are heavily rumoured to be launching at the same time. It will also be more expensive as a result. The PS5 is the base console for PlayStation, and I doubt Sony is in as much as a hurry to put out their "Pro" version just for bragging rights. If/when a PS5 Pro comes out they have the opportunity to make it the most powerful console, and Microsoft would have to release a third console to compete which is just silly.

I'm still disappointed in backwards compatibility. Not even having full BC with PS4 is incredibly misjudged, especially since one of PlayStation's big advantages going into next gen is that people would naturally want to stick with the system they're already on. They're effectively throwing away that selling point.

Doesn't make much of a difference to me because I'll be getting both as soon as they have worthwhile exclusives.
