>Monster Hunter alive and well >Resident Evil alive and well >DMC alive and well >Street Fighter alive and well >Mega Man still barely alive, getting some low effort retraux shit "game" every 10 years and ports of games made before their audience was even born
What kind of horrible timeline is this where one of if not THE greatest franchise is shafted like this? Mega Man should be getting state-of-the-art games, not bottom of the barrel crap.
Every single Mega man game is kinda like the same dude.
Owen Rogers
To call Street Fighter alive and well seems like a bit of a stretch. That said Capcom has redeemed themselves in my eyes this gen, after the disaster that was the second half of last gen.
Oliver Lewis
Just play bow or LBG in MHW and you get the idea.
Christian Green
Capcom made some of their best games ever during the second half of last gen, Only now are they falling out of favor for me, because they're going back into milk mode.
Benjamin Cruz
so a third person shooter? How do you set it apart from the dozens of other third person shooters out there made by veteran teams who have been perfecting the formula for a decade
Luke Ramirez
How WOULDN'T Mega Man work in 3D? Just make it a Zero game, or give MM Zero's saber.
You shoot in the direction you're facing. Easy enough. Shoulder button to dash. Saber for melee. Enemies should die quick. No sponges, unless they're special enemies or mini bosses. In order to wall jump, you simply press into the wall and tap the jump button.
The translation to 3D is so mindlessly simple, that it's amazing they fucked it up before. Any half competent dev could do it.
James Hall
How does MH? How does RE2? Stop asking dumb retarded questions.
Jacob Garcia
We grew up and now the next generation can be crazy about anything. Don't get me wrong, I miss the imagination of a team of nerds that truly loved other nerds and wanted their work to be a thing that catered to the nerds. Now all gaming is happens to be scratching a lotto ticket as a kid, it's pretty fucked up. So concerned on their avatar that it digs into real money.
I honestly think we're worse than the previous generation because of that. A lot of kids will be seeking out the "platinum" of having a vehicle, having a house, having everything decked out. It's not a good future
William Sullivan
Why'd it have to be Mega Man though? Couldn't it be Darkstalkers or some other crap? Was it just to piss off Infaune?
Hunter Jackson
mosnter hunter is a tried and true formula, and only a TPS for one weapon out of over a dozen
RE2 is a fucking remake and more a sequal to RE5/6 then a new game
my point is you can't make mega man now adays because megaman is fucking simple and boring compared to what we have now. If indie team #397 released Mega Man 2 today it would be completley ignored.
This has nothing to do with my post. Mega Man had been doomed for a long time, same as Sonic. Although the latter seems to be in a better state with the movie, are we gonna see an actually good game come of it? No.
Tomb raider, Resident Evil, Mario, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy and et cetera are all classic examples of bittersweet re-imagining of what we knew at our age. They do their thing but it's in the interest of getting the most publicity and sales as possible. Even in the PS2 era a game could be a somewhat miss and the developers could still recoup, now you have to spend millions of dollars on face recognition, gameplay, cutscenes, trying to figure out what might be right for the very average game consumer..... It's a shame
Michael Rogers
It will be because we'll make sure they cant afford a console, let alone a house.
Leo Diaz
>how would megaman work as a third person shooter?!?!
Megaman Legends but fucking better, duh.
Aiden Kelly
There's already proof that a 3D Mega Man, specifically Zero, can work. Pic related.
SF has had multiple state-of-the-art games. The most advanced Mega Man game is fucking X7.
Jose Williams
Vanquish with Zero 4's ability steal mechanic.
Juan Anderson
Fuck off, Mega Man is doing fine. The legacy collections are actually fine in my book, given the last actual collections before Legacy Collections were the ones on PS2 and Gamecube for Classic and X, not to mention the ZZX collection actually improved the DS games thanks to having uncompressed anime cutscenes and not extremely compressed audio. Also Mega Man 11 was good, suck my dick.
Literally hasn't had a real game since the PS fucking 1
Luis Gray
What's wrong with megaman 11?
Evan Adams
The only Capcom franchises that survived last gen were Sengoku Basara, MonHun and Ace Attorney. Everything else was fucking dead. >megaman >resident evil >street fighter >marvel >DMC >Dead Rising >lost planet >GnG >Viewtiful Joe >Darkstalkers >Okami >Rival Schools
They’ve managed to arrive about half of them this gen.
Carson Wood
Maybe if your taste is shit. Mega Man 11 was a good game.
Oliver King
Vanquish but with megaman
Charles Barnes
I just don't want to die without getting to play a modern mega man game.
The entire medium of video games has evolved considerably, meanwhile 11 can't even hit the peaks of what was standard 30 fucking years ago. It's alright if you set your expectations real low, but I don't want to do that. I want my expectations to be high yet still surpassed, like when I played RE2 remake or MHW:I.
Asher Campbell
11 was just below ok. The franchise went on hiatus for too long and they couldn't get weird with it, they had to pick up from MM2
>No Bass >No Protoman >No plot twist
Brayden Powell
just remake megaman legends with better control and grafix actually don't touch the graphic
Alexander Allen
You gut stuck with Con Man who crashed the brand
Ayden James
>>No Bass Okay? Not really a big deal honestly >>No Protoman Once more, not a big deal. Protoman often just kind of fucks off and at most would give you an item or two in previous games, but doesn't NEED to be in the games at all times. >>No plot twist >implying the "twist" wouldn't be the predictable "its Wily" like literally every other time
Grayson Martinez
>>Resident Evil alive and well >Soulless remake Fuck off
Nathaniel Long
Why the fuck did they kill Ace Attorney for no reason?
Justin Baker
Alright >No character development >No new characters other than villains >No new backstory or lore (we already knew Wily and Light were friends back then)
Landon Kelly
Do you ever wake up and feel like y'know
Like Capcom still makes good games and all but without mega man? They're nothing.
I feel like Mega Man Classic should be a platformer first and a shooting game second. One of the problems with translating that to 3D is that it becomes a shooter first and a platformer second, like Ratchet and Clank, which are okay games but doesn’t quite feel like Mega Man translated to 3D.
Camden Howard
Yes. I am absolutely devastated every time i see those 3 minutes of gameplay on YouTube every time.
Aiden Richardson
The first four games have been turned in to Westernified AAA titles with the RE engine. cAAApcom hasn't figured out how to make Mega Man into an AAA game yet.
Ryan Bennett
BECAUSE MEGAMAN APOLOGISTS NEEDED AN 11TH INSTALLMENT
Just drop the platforming, it doesn't work in 3D. Mega Man's position is unique in that both the shooting and platforming was fun, and both the stages and bosses were fun. Focus on the strengths; not doing so was the mistake of Legends.
>>No character development >caring about character development in a classic Megaman game when none of the characters even change from game to game literally the only "character development" is with protoman not being an enemy anymore after MM3. >>No new characters other than villains okay? Adding a new character just for the sake of adding a new character would be retarded and unnecessary. >>No new backstory or lore (we already knew Wily and Light were friends back then) >giving a shit about lore in classic series The only lore that is at all interesting from classic, is when Zero is brought up on the rarest occasions. Most of the time the "lore" for classic isn't even talked about in the games themselves.
Henry Wilson
I always hated Street Fighter 4. You could tell their hearts weren't in it.
Christian Sullivan
Dragon's Dogma. And it's most likely getting a sequel.
And Megaman sequel has been heavily hinted by Capcom so I don't know why you dumb malcontent faggots are so enraged by this. They're also released HUGE chunk of the series to modern platforms, including Steam with reworked shit. There are series in Capcom that have been COMPLETELY forgotten and left to rot, you guys have it pretty easy.
Tyler Wood
THEY SAY (this franchise) THIS FRANCHISE (she's been dead) SHE'S BEEN DEAD FOR YEARS NOW
That's not what I'm arguing. I'm arguing that this "renaissance" is still Capcom milking a scant few of their most successful IPs as always (though they've been making better games than last gen aside from SFV), except this time they don't even try new ones alongside them a la Lost Planet and Dead Rising. They certainly aren't "trying new things", they're more safe than ever.
Carson Williams
>literally the only "character development" is with protoman not being an enemy anymore after MM3
Thats not even what the actual dialogue is user, just localization additions that aren't canon. Also, that hardly qualifies as actual "character development."
Chase White
the only problem with MegaMan in 3D is the shooting, everything else was already figured out in Mario 64, Mario took X's wall jump after all.
It needs a fundamental gameplay change, Sonic got a homing attack to make jumping on enemies easier and it worked really well in Adventure, Link got a Z lock to make attacking enemies less cumbersome, MegaMan just needs something similar, something like lock on but that doesn't ruin the feel of the camera unless it goes full Metroid Prime.
Luis Sanders
The entirety of MM10 is about how Wily isn't really all that evil, and that there's a slight chance that he and Light could work together again.
It sucks but ever since they bled money last generation, they've been leaning on a very small pool of series they know will be moderate to high successes. And sure enough, they've been releasing hits after hits, including Megaman 11.
At this stage, releasing Dragon's Dogma 2 is almost like a new IP since everyone thought it was dead.
Easton Hughes
Guess you're just gettin' sentimental
Joshua Peterson
Great time to bring back Dead Rising tbqh
>Why did my people have to die so you could fill your bellies with bats?
I don't have much of an issue with Capcom itself about that, it's a really shitty shift that happened to the industry as a whole due to ballooning budgets for games which lead everyone to an overreliance on established IPs. Though it is annoying that they aren't even trying new things on a smaller scale with a limited budget and lower price tag like Megaman 11 itself, they could still put out some cool new IPs that way.
I wonder how Deep Down would've fared if it wasn't fucked over by its engine.
Kevin Turner
They need to come up with a way to give the games more bang for your buck. Anyone with any Mega Man experience can blow through a new installment in less than 2 hours on a first run.
Kevin Martinez
>All upcoming Mega Man games cancelled >No games for 8 years >fanbase bitches >get Mega Man 11 >still bitch I hate to be associated with Mega Man fans.
