Pontiff is the absolute worst fucking boss. Holy shit who the fuck thought mashing B for 90% of a fight was a fun idea?
wtf they're not even that tough. You can stun lock the shit out of them.
DaS3 is objectively better than PvEasy bloodborne
They wanted you to parry bait or out dps him. Thats his gimmick.
DaS3 has the toughest basic enemies in the franchise.
weirdly the lothric knights are the most fair and balanced enemy in the whole game even when you fight them later and they're 10x stronger
I unironically would rather fight them than the regular hollows
>Am I playing Bloodborne or Dark Souls
and this is why Ive only played DS3 through twice.
>pick Knight like any sensible person when they see that aesthetic
>start with a OP 100% DR shield
>strafe right
>back stab
>replay game
>realize how easy they are to parry
If enemies in 3 are "bullshit", you're simply not making use of the tools available to you. Many basic weapon arts (quickstep, perseverance, stance, stomp, spin slash/bash) are powerful. The level design encourages stealth and plunging attacks. Don't fall for the straight sword meme because heavier weapons also destroy PvE with their poiseframes and ability to chain knockdown tougher enemies to death.
Parry or backstab you dumb fuck
I really don't remember these guys being that big of a deal. My real challenges were with the dlc. That stuff was hard.
>getting filtered by a common enemy
Zoomers are unbelievable
That's because they're pretty much the only enemy in the game that is balanced around the slow windup speed of the player.
Dropping several Lothric Knights into the first area of the game always seemed like a weird design choice to me. They would have served better as a Silver/Black Knight equivalent: only showing up in earlier areas as minibosses guarding something neat (like the red-eyed blue knight near Dancer's church), and then in lategame areas as a common enemy.
What about those skeletons in the catacombs that leap around as if they're flying and constantly throw daggers or spam attacks
>because heavier weapons also destroy PvE with their poiseframes and ability to chain knockdown tougher enemies to death.
>UGS stomp into charge R2 into 2nd R2
Fucking destroys, even that dual greatsword ringed knight gets fucked by this combo. UGS and GH are fantastic in DS3
Attack first, attack often, and use a straight sword.
Shit boss if so. Any boss who's "supposed" to be reduced to parrying is shit.
Regular enemies don't matter since they can all be easily defeated with a little bit of defensive play. Straight Swords are godlike because you can be greedy on bosses when you otherwise couldn't be with a UGS.
Just do a a STR build bro
It gets worse as you go. Look forward to 32-hit 20 second combos with a lot of long spinning lunges.
They didn't bother developing good enemies, they just made them combo spam and damage sponges.
>The level design encourages stealth
Are you actually serious
>Patrolling enemies
>Tough enemies with their back towards you
Slumbering ring is ridiculously strong for PvE.
kicking required ahead in short you bastard
Favorite enemies in the game. Fair and still challenging
it's hilarious are hyper aggressive they are and how they punish you for fishing for backstabs. no other enemy in the game even fucking does that besides like one of two near the end of the game, i think. they feel so out of place in the first level, you never encounter such a strong enemy ever again in the early game.
Dark Souls 3 boss parrying made this mechanic must have to use.
Too bad parry mechanic was always shit in Souls series.
>no other enemy in the game even fucking does that besides like one of two near the end of the game
Cathedral Knights absolutely do, and Silver/Black Knights, I'm pretty sure.
These guys are fine. The real fuckers are the Tower Shield ones. I genuinely don't know what you're supposed to do since they react to you using shield-opening moves and can attack faster than your recovery when they block something.
Two hand your weapon so it doesn't bounce off, and just start banging on their shield whenever you get an opening. They'll block until they get guard broken.
Champion Gundyr is kino though
Just strafe behind them and backstab. They are slow as sin.
Are you kidding? They have a shield bash that stops you from doing that.
strafe to their left instead of their right
>pick Twin Blades to start because I read online about how Twin Blades are the spin2win speedrunner boss deleter strat
>didn't realize all speedrunners just literally run to the bosses and melt them with resins/buffs
>try to fight these fucking knights
>get blocked, run out of stam, punished for trying to fish out a backstab, etc
>F I L T E R E D
>really fucking frustrated
>find the lucerne
>the overhand attack goes right through their fucking nigger block bullshit
>use for the rest of the game
FUCK these guys. I shit on every other enemy and boss in the game without batting an eyelash but these guys are total fucking faggots. Lucerne vs Friede was actually really fucking fun though so I guess I'm glad I got directed to a cool weapon.
>finally get to a level where Lothric knights aren't a problem
>climb「The Ladder」
>place is filled with Lothric knights that are fifteen times stronger and adds that buff them
What's even the point of having levels if you're just going to throw the same enemies at me just stronger? Like, at least make them blue or something, don't you have any shame?
They have red eyes and some have blue capes. Ultra greatsword lothric knight wasn't fought before too.
I thought Pontiff was really easy, just get a good shield and you can block his entire combo. He moves really slow so it's easy to run away and heal.
I personally though Abyss Watcher were way more difficult.
Abyss Watchers are trivialized even more with a decent shield.

Mechanics were half baked, where the fuck is my poise?, what good are great swords, hammers, or any slow moving strength weapon when it does shit damage, doesn't stun, and leaves you vulnerable?
The PvE is trivialized with a dex build, melee is faster, does more dps, and you get to use bows to bait and snipe enemies without losing a single hp, fuck that game.
Maybe actually use ultra weapons because they wreck PvE just as easily.
>what good are great swords, hammers, or any slow moving strength weapon when it does shit damage, doesn't stun, and leaves you vulnerable
Because they actually do stun, can knock enemies down, and give you poise.
you were likely overleveled out the ass
Poise is fully implemented, its just casual retards like you don't understand how it works differently now.
>pick build that attacks fast
>why do I have to attack often
???
>infinite stamina
Sick of people saying this. You don't know how much it's moves cost or how much stamina it has. You're saying stamina is unlimited because you swung on your last pip of stamina after a dodge and ate shit like a retard.
That knight isn't that bad. It's the fucking lance ones that are ass. They literally block everything (especially early game as you can't do enough to break guard) then hit with the shield on one side (while still blocking...) or quick poke you from the left. And every attack the game claims they're still blocking even if you out range them. Ugh. I usually just walk past 'em.
I felt parry was good in the first two souls games. They ruined it when they made everything have a weird 5 - 10 frame delay before the actual parry frame. It worked much better when it was an instant timing. Also felt more satisfying rather than feeling dodgy.
They have a side swipe if you go the other way as well. You can dodge but it moves you out of position since the dodge isn't a rotating dodge like Wind Waker.
All enemies have infinite stamina, genius. The difference is some don't have any space between their attacks.
It works like ass now. Only useful during a specific skill. Amazing game design. 10/10 for sure.
You can literally read their values with CheatEngine, tard. They have values but their so outrageous that it recovers faster than they can spend it.
Parrying works similarly in 2 and 3. It was way too easy in 1.
It was good in 1. 2 and 3 make it not enjoyable unless you use the one or two pieces of gear that increase frames or restore the original instant frame. Literally every other game, even Nioh, uses the instant timing. It's just superior.
>it's okay bro just mash R1
Ah yes, truly something out of the genius mind that made Bloodborne.
Yeah I dont even bother trying to 1v1 him since hes constantly throwing out combos
How does parrying work in 3? I can never get the timing right.
The .webm you posted shows l1 being used more than r1.
>nooooooooooooooo you cant make me actually have to specialise and think to make use of a mechanic instead of giving me 24/7 easy mode noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
That's because transformation attacks are completely unbalanced.
Yes it's good because ultras are far better in 3 than they were in 1 where they were parryable , people could just toggle escape out of your combos and dex niggers could stack poise more easily to walk through you ultra's swings and backstab you.
>How does parrying work in 3
It's nearly the same you just have to be more precise before the window is shorter and there's a few frames of start up.
Spamming R1 with a OP weapon isn't new. Can do the same in the previous games with great weapons
They really couldnt do anything about dogs staggering you in full Havels though?
Yes it's called perseverance, blocking, stomp etc.
>poise is a limited resource
Just fucking give each attack different poise damage and be done with it. It doesn't have to be so complicated.
No they aren't, they cost more stamina for high damage. The Hunter Axe is the only weapon with good rally in the first place
