I somehow missed out on this entire trilogy.
Is it worth getting into?

Yes.
I mean I know it gets a lot of shit but isn't it even worth a pirate?
How bad can it be
No. I played through the first game by just pushing up on the left stick and pressing A. It really is a hallway simulator. The memes were true. Second game has dumb time travel shit. Third game I didn't finish but it has dumb time limit shit.
It's worse than you can imagine. And each game only gets worse.
only if your waifu is lightning
It' not even worth a pirate given how bad the PC port is for the first game. At the time I had a GTX 970 with an i5 4460 and I got stutters here and there in the first game. The other two ran fine, but were still shit games.
It's a very rare case where every character is the worst character.
Its really not worth the time. most of the game is walking through a corridor. The battles require little input from the player. the game only opens up in the last quarter of the game.
I played all 3. Here's my rating.
13-2 > 13-3 > Dogshit >>>>>>>> 13
Don't fucking play 13.
No
This game is the definition of soulless. The production values are through the roof though.
people that cleared each random battle in 4-5 minutes will tell you the game is shit
people that cleared each random battle in 30 seconds at the same level of power will tell you it's fun
so there's only one question to ask yourself, user: are you a brainlet?
Yes. Just don't go in expecting a Final Fantasy game.
But is it worse than XV?
no. ffxv is literally the worst mainline ff game. the only one close to being as shitty is typo but at least that one's decently fun to play and respects the player's intelligence.
FF13-2 and FF13:LR are pretty great.
13 is pretty bad
Good enough for me. I'll give it a try then. I actually enjoyed FFXV while it was an actual video game up until the halfway point where you get to Venice and it turns into a ridiculous unfinished shitheap. Forced myself to play through the god awful train section and that fucking shovelware-tier dungeon were Noctis is solo and then dropped it soon afterwards I just couldn't stomach anymore shit.
XIII at least seems finished and polished so I'll give it a shot.
as long as you actively put in the effort to understand the story the story's alright and the gameplay is pretty different from standard jrpgs so it's kind of refreshing if you've played a lot of them. as long as you just put your expectations for what a JRPG "should" be like and let it do its thing, it's pretty good. not perfect, but pretty good.
13 is awful.
13-2 is better.
LR is actually pretty great.
the good:
if you liked 10 you will likely enjoy 13
really beautiful art direction, was a wonder when it came out on ps3 and when it relaunched on pc
really beautiful ost, Hamauzu had some big shoes to fill and did a great job, excellent piano collection too, up there with 11 and the classic 4-5-6 operas
battle system was a departure from 12 for sure, the shifts had a good bit of depth for the more difficult boss battles, by design you couldn't poopsock grind to trivialize the game
the bad:
long winded old school jrpg pacing, way too much for average attention span of the games it was competing with
some of the character writing is weaker then others
youtu.be
too long of a post for Yas Forums but someone might actually be interested
And yet they're still better than all the shitters except maybe Barret in VII.
hahahaha
13 is ok.
13-2 is good
LR is an abomination
>>if you liked 10 you will likely enjoy 13

Play everything except XV and II first, and I mean it.
13 is fucking horrible.
13-2 introduces a cool monster collecting gimmick but it's still bad.
13-3 I didn't even bother playing because "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
They won't fool me a third time.
Just kidding I bought FF15 on release they fooled me a third time.
Look at all these filtered fags.
More games should wait 30 hours before opening up. It would clean out all the chaff and leave just the real gamers.
Stop listening to Yas Forums. FFXIII is a good linear world building set up, lots of crystal clear concepts and flashy scenes which make you want more. Then the hidden gem FFXIII-2 actually gives you more to explore from the first game which everybody wanted. Only sucky party is the monster as the third party member. Other than than, Caius is based, the OST is amazing, and out boy Hope grows up.
Lightning returns is fanservice trash, ending sucks, isn't as great as the ending of XIII-2, OST forgettable.
>if you don't like shit games you're filtered.
Guess I'm filtered then.
Fuck no.
FFXV was worse than the FXIII trilogy in the way they released an unfinished game, sold dlc to finish the game, and Noctis was a pussy, Lunafreya was a bitch, Ardyn did nothing wrong
I beat the base game in 20 hours, which doesn't require any of the other 13 weapons, combat is dull and easy (literally hold down one button), no need for potions, it's impossible to die. Warp Warp Warp. It's Kingdom Hearts combat gone wrong.
Fuck you, I played every FF to date and the only one that was worse than XIII was TAY.
The graphics were pretty for its time, but it has literally no gameplay. Never bothered with the sequels.
Finally someone gets it.
t. child who has never finished a ff game
you missed out, LR had an absolutely kino battle system.
hell I would say it did the action game/ATB battle system better than FF7R
>paying over 100$ to see the full story, which is also not great
Whatever they were trying to do, failed. They shouldn't have kicked Nomura to Kingdom Hearts 3
Yeah FF15 was fucking atrocious I even nearly 100% complete it just to try and squeeze some life out of it but I was let down at every opportunity.
>hell I would say it did the action game/ATB battle system better than FF7R
I don't believe you. FF7R's gameplay is great and you can tell Cyberconnect2 was involved at some point, feels like .hack// so I can't wait for the "complete edition" in 10 years so I can finally play it.
Nah.
>pay actual cash for the game
>still can't get past the half way point due to how bad it is
How the fuck will piracy make it better? If anything, it will make it worse since you know you didn't pay for it so there is no reason to finish it.
This, I probably would have dropped FFXIII after like 10 hours or so if I didn't buy it. I finished it, but it would have been better if I dropped it actually.
I ironically put more time into pirated games than bought ones
LR is unironically great
I actually really liked ff13 and I feel retarded for it
Good.
XIII literally takes about 16 hours before it actually stops holding your hand, lets you off the leash, and then to proceed with the story it's like running back to its side so it can lead you on the path. When it finally lets you off the leash enemies are incredibly threatening and high damaging, you basically need Auto-Haste to stand a chance, and it's actually fun there, but then they just stop it out of nowhere. The actual paradigm mechanics are fine, and they do require you to think about character paradigms, when to switch out, when to use RAV or COM, when to abuse SEN's absurd defense, etc. Postgame is where it shines really, especially when you get to break the class roles they force you into for a while. Hope is also an asshole for a good portion of the game not even trying to ask Snow anything.
XIII-2 is much better. The antagonist is interesting as is the story, Goofy's son and Serah pair together well, the addition of tamable monsters means your party layout is actually involved, the paradigms feel more important right from the get-go, there's less handholding for sure, the time gimmicks mean a lot more exploration even though they're still pretty linear, and seeing all the various futures and pasts is cool.
I've heard Lightning Returns is also pretty good but obviously you gotta enjoy Lightning when she's such a boring character compared to the rest of the cast. The demo was fun though.
Even postgame didn't require more than 2 braincells to figure out which paradigm set ups to use for a boss and when to switch, and once you did, it was back to holding the A button.
If the normal game had the postgame's difficult from the first minute to the last, it would have been slightly better, but only slightly.
Still, most of the bosses you deal with in postgame can't just be RAV/RAV/RAV into COM/COM/COM, you had to SAB/SYN/SEN or SEN/SEN/SEN constantly, sometimes even MED/MED/SEN or SAB/SAB/MED.
Yeah I know, don't tell this is more than 2 braincells territory stuff though.
It requires more effort than most of the game but yeah, it's really basic when it boils down to it. Like, the most big brain moves are just making Light and Snow RAVs because they're the fastest in the game for it and deal the highest damage as well.
I liked it better the second time, when I already knew what to expect. Even platinum'd it
>bro my enjoyment and experience equals EVERYONE ELSES
You retarded? There were multiple ways to beat bosses, so just because you only used x and y does not men everyone else did. The difficulty of the game has nothing to do with how good the game is anyways.
That's just a Souls fallacy, and FFXV beats this game in too easy difficulty by a long run.
Is the battle system in Lightning Returns worth putting up with the rest of the game? I've never played any FF game in the 13-series, so I don't give a rats ass about the story or the characters.
Why would you even consider playing a jrpg in that case
Voice acting - or maybe just chiefly American voice acting ruined JRPGs/FF. I can't stand it. It's so - empty and soulless, I can practically hear the shitty paycheck these VA's are making right through the audio.
Because battle system. Did you not read my post user?
