What went wrong?
What went wrong?
Unironically nothing.
Game's great, devs are amazing, modding scene is pretty good.
literally nothing
What goals are you guys building for? I've decided to finally do a rocket per second base. I know it's not tremendously difficult, but I've never quite been able to get to that level of throughput before taking a break, then a patch comes and I feel compelled to start over.
they need more biomes, add mountain and cave, then add mine cart, and add more vehicles
>$30
Been thinking of trying this out recently, but does this game run on a terrible toaster?
Worth it. I held out for years waiting for a sale and finally cracked, and they honestly deserve the money.
I'm still on one of my first bases and working on getting up yellow science. Resource patches are starting to dry out and I've built all my smelting and such locally so I'm probably going to have to rebuild my entire base somewhere else with more efficient resource handling.
It runs as efficiently as is possible, they've done a lot of work to optimize and support low-end machines. You can basically build into infinity, so you might encounter problems if you build a mega base but for 95% of the game I think you will have zero issues even on a toaster.
this isn't a Minecraft thread. everything essential to Factorio is already vanilla except maybe Z-levels, just about everything else can be modded in
I wish there was like a silo building that just held inordinate amounts of ore or something. Like some sort of intermediate storage that helps buffer starts and stops better in supply compared to building a chest/inserter spot.
All the mods that add something similar to this go overboard and make buildings that have 128x the chest capacity or something, there's really not a whole lot of middle ground between not useful and broken.
My brain
Factorio is a tedium simulator
>I wish there was like a silo building
chest/inserter chains
The idea is something not so messy, getting chest/inserter combo to balance on lanes while also balance between themselves so the first one on a lane doesn't empty/fill before the others takes a lot of fanagling with spliters. I'd kind of like a nice 5x5 building that can hold vast amounts of iron/copper ore and automatically outputs an even flow to a belt.
Right now, I can achieve a similar thing with some inserters and a dummy cargo train, but that's kind of a messy method for balancing.
Lack of updates.
Now this is some quality bait.
No sales I guess. It's worth it tho, and it's still constantly getting updated.
no z levels
I do not want to try imaging what this game would be like with z-levels.
Unironically nothing. With neetdom being common now me and my friends started up a factory and its been a hoot
Factorio is the rick and morty of videogames.
Yas Forums is the rick and morty of Yas Forums
a lot easier to manage
roller coaster tycoon had z levels
its cookie clicker with extra steps
There's nothing messy about it, the last chest can just be considered the "output" while the rest of the chests are inputs and it functions just like one big chest. There's no reason they need to balance between themselves, you're only limited by the throughput of the stack inserter which is higher than a belt
Dev's have said from day one they won't put it on sale and have held to that for years. The price will only go up.
im a brainlet and even found the tutorial confusing
will it eventually click?
Play satisfactory instead, its a lot more fun and less autismo
hmph, it's early access (i know factorio is too, but ive heard factorio is basically feature complete, but devs are fussy about polish or something)
>im a brainlet and even found the tutorial confusing
Fucking christ user.
The game is about getting resources in order to optimize your resource gathering, rinse and repeat until you are launching rockets into space. It's that simple.
price increase
>lot more fun
Because you aren't autistic. Overall, Factorio and Satisfactory scratch 2 somewhat different itches. Fact lets you build sprawling megacomplexes of production to satisfy factorytism on a primal level. Satisfact, while it has the merit of 3D, is also far more limited, factories can't be as large due to performance hits and the fact the map has a finite size.
Both are good though, not gonna lie. Glad to see Satisfactory finally leaving EGS.
Last time I played satisfactory was like a year ago, and there was hundreds of hours of content
game is a fucking grind
Seriously, if there is a kino config for playing this game let me know. Research and it's necessary components are a pain in the ass to build up.
Scale up doofus. The entire game is about automation. Grinding in a game like this is just playing badly.
Just make more production.
If you're not being retarded, you should feel like you're always playing catch up, never bored.
>play with a friend
>don't know what to do except repairing walls and building turrets
I don't think anything went wrong, it's a fun game.
>satisfactory leaving egs
Aren't they suposed to be leaving one year after leaving early access?
That's what everyone originally said, but with the launch of Update 3, they announced they're coming to Steam soon. Not precisely when, but before Update 4. Steam page is up and everything. So either people were full of shit or they renegotiated on the grounds that a shorter stint was on par with what everyone else was getting.
Guess it isn't all sunshine and rainbows on egs then since their community fag was one of the biggest egs dicksuckers at the time.
>mfw working rail system
Belt and rails not bot spam ok? Praise the bus.
Angel's silos have a capacity of 256 slots, and take up 16 tiles. It's the equivalent of using 8 iron chests with 8 inserters chaining them together. I don't think it's going overboard at all, but it's still useful.
Any other game recommendations? Launched a rocket in factorio, got all statisfactory had to offer, but still need to indulge my autism more.
Should be some kind of easy mode for low IQfriends like me.
I could never automate the potions and labs
Blue science is a brainlet filter, which is why I can never get passed it.
Zachtronics games. Spacechem specificaly if you're big brained.
It's like anno, except you have to manage transport as well.
huh, satisfactory actually looks pretty good, should i start with that instead?
blue science
just think big and think modular - it's getting complicated because you're being lazy, everything should come from a big distinct setup and go into another big distinct setup
except for convenience stuff, like belt and inserter production, you can go small for those
>brainlet filter
being a brainlet only results in ugly factories, but if you're dedicated, you can still complete the game
blue science is a casual filter moreso than anything else
my most recent base. i used a blueprint for nuclear power which is the big blue square but everything else is my own. super large super dense ore patches, no trains cause i'm a brainlet
Yas Forums is the rick and morty of counterculture websites
this doesn't even look fun
>he doesn't know about SCALE
Why make 100 science packs per minute when you could make 100,000?
Who else got Logistic Network Embargo purely because logic chests were too intimidating on first playthrough?
Only thing that bugs me is that aliens are not a problem as soon as you have turrets.
There is all this cool research you can do into ammo/tanks/nukes/artillery but none of it is really needed. Its fun for a few minutes to wipe out some nests with something insane but I want an alien that forces me to rush into the more advanced military tech.
>no trains cause i'm a brainlet
I don't really get that, the tutorial makes understanding rail really fucking easy. I was able to figure it out while high as shit
my first few playthroughs were super spaghetting and every square inch of the base was saturated with either pipes, belts, buildings or power lines. and i was constantly getting attacked by biters destroying everything. i've been through that stuff, it was fun but i tired of it quick. now i much more enjoy the game as a relaxing factory sim with no biters, just enjoying the manufacturing and making everything nice and neat. it's fun for me. i also have some quality of life mods such as sqeak through, dectorio for nice coloured concrete and coloured lighting etc.
just turn the aliens up
but you still need miltech even in a regular game, on a desert map you usually need to rush it
making one rail from place to place is easy, but as soon as turn signals and intersections come into play i completely zone out and get confused. i think part of why factorio is so great is the amount of options you have during worldgen to cater to your own preferences
oh nvm i do actually have biters turned on on this safe, they're just on passive mode so i can go out and kill stuff when i feel like it. i still have a turret wall set up for aesthetics and if i want to turn them back on to aggressive
Even on deathworlds you can get by with laser turrets and blueprints, something like a tank or artillery just makes it a little easier.
By "forced to research" I'm thinking of an alien version of artillery that outrages any turret or something that resists laser and bullet so you must use fire. Why not a flying alien that evolves to counter a play that makes bunkers with 10 layers of wall and a few turrets.
lasers are late-mid game though, after tanks
I always use the tank to clear out bases during the mid game, artillery is a bit pointless though yeah
train switches are simple
just remember these three things
>switches are used to divide the tracks into sections
>only one train should be in a section at a time
>sections should be atleast as big as your longest train
don't even think about how the signal logic works, just remember these three things
