When does the plot pick up? I'm currently on game 1 right now and first impressions weren't really that great. Anime school tropes got on my nerves more than usual (which I found kind of odd since I had assumed I built a tolerance for this sort of thing through visual novels) and the characters didn't exactly make a strong first impression either. Rean seems like a light novel protagonist on first impressions and the main girl seemed like the kind of tsundere that I have seen before dozens of times and done better in other works. Mind you these are just first impressions but I have been playing for at least 4-5 hours now and I hope what's waiting at the end is worth the time spent.

Tearring Saga. The blonde is a blunt asshole pirate who mocks nobles and peasants but can be more mature than he initially lets on, despite trying to keep his emotional baggage with his family and love interest in check.

The brunette is his best friend and co-protagonist. Without spoiling anything, he's the kind of person who is legitimately mature, but isn't afraid of doing occasionally ignoble actions for the greater good, is occasionally emotional as a teen should be, and can actually unwind around his friends, especially his co-protagonist. They have a very good dynamic.

The gameplay isn't shit like those games
