Holy shit, Aerial CB is fucking awesome.

What's your favorite Hunter Style/Weapon combo?

aerial GL or Alchemy LBG

does this game still have a healthy online player base?

It’s difficult to find groups solely to do things just for the sake of doing them, like unfun trash such as Crystalbeard or event-scaled quests with no unique rewards, but a couple months ago I had no issues finding or hosting turns rooms and bored vets often join LR/HR.

you can pretty much find groups easily but hard to find an specific quest, unlike before (tail framing of specific level or farming an specific quest unless you start it and wait)

I was playing a few hours ago and saw ~10 rooms with 2 or so players each in HR1-3.

I’m really enjoying Striker SnS lately. Combos are smooth and HAs are satisfying.
Only problem is when I’m the only Exhaust/Stun user on a team and some DB or LSfag keeps tripping me while I try to bash the head.

Always start your bread and butter combo using the X+A dash in when there’s a risk of tripping, or use Roundforce 3. It’s one of the most obnoxious moves to play with when used improperly but it CAN be useful, like immediately after GS charges or HAs, alongside giving you the freedom to tell everyone else to fuck off whenever you want. Roundforce 2 is better in most cases despite being weaker since it charges slightly faster and doesn’t launch, so it can be spammed with impunity, but I can’t understate how satisfying it is to use 3 properly.

>Reach Urgent G3 rank
>Fend off a Lao Shan Lung
>Repelled it solo
I feel mediocre, i couldn't kill that fucker...

i dont think you kill elders in older MHGU, they just run away when their HP reaches 0

>Trying to beat the final village quest with aerial
I need more potions.

Don't be, that Lao is tanky as fuck.

You can kill it, i ran out of time, 35 minutes weren't enough.
40K hp i knew it was tanky, Next time i will have a proper dragon element weapon.

Valstrax or Alatreon?
The former isn’t really a good fight for Aerial honestly. Adept tears him apart though.

Just look for rooms, there’s always people asking for help with that urgent.

Hyper Fated Four + Valstrax.
They just chew through all my supplies because Aerial isn't suited some of them in solo.

LR & HR seem ok so far, since I've only hit about HR6ish by this point. I've been playing pretty heavily the last week or two and there's constantly Chinese rooms up with less than a handful of English at any given time for that segment of the game. I don't know if G rooms are different or if people are busy with Iceborne for now, but it's probably best to get with a regular group to play with that uses like discord or something that isn't horrible like ingame text to communicate. I'd love to make like a small group of pals and do some events and general farming, especially the Metroid event for the Varia transmog.

I'm glad they made aerial CB better for GU. Almost makes up for them gutting guard points.

There are still loads of G Rank rooms, I never have a problem finding a turn room. Still a lot of bugmen though.

Use Double Healing palicoes, additionally call for support whit the soratorium supplies. I survived whit double healing palicoes whit that bullshit quest that was in MH4U that needed to hunt 3 Apex monsters in a row thanks to the palicoes alone, now Palicoes have more options to heal you, and there's even more supplies.

>Start this game up
>Go to smithy
>He gives me the option to "level up" my weapon
>I can't do any other upgrade lines without this
Uh...this is just a joke for all the starter weapons, right?

what? that's how every mh works

Every other monster hunter is
Weapon -> Upgrade -> New Weapon

This seems to be
Weapon -> Level up -> Level up -> Upgrade -> Now new weapon.

im not sure i understand what you're trying to say but it's the exact same system as in world, but without the tree visualization

Some weapons are locked behind level 2 or 3 weapons as branches, yeah. Most of them aren't especially good though, or just sidegrades to the base weapon.

World is a direct upgrade.

This thing literally says "Level up", then it gives me actual upgrades after I unlocked levels. There isn't a single other MonHun that does this.

This just seems very awkward and not in the monster hunter spirit in my opinion. It's strangely off putting.

No, world isn't a direct upgrade. There's literally Bone Weapon I, Bone Weapon II, Bone Weapon III, Bone Weapon IV and then it branches off into actual different weapons. Re-check its tree.

>want to get all of the combines to fill out my list
>too retarded to figure out how alchemy style works

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Anyone want to play G Rank turns tonight?

Does the english server cheat work on o3DS? I remember trying the 30 fps lock cheat on 4U and it just made the game randomly crash...

what's this turn thing? sorry im a worldbaby

Mate, if you're gonna be retarded, do it somewhere else, would you?

In pre-World games, instead of a hub of many people, online consists of rooms of up to 4 people. Turns is basically just each person in the room taking turns to choose quests.
G Rank is just what MR was called before World.

Each player takes turns posting a quest. It's quite a simple concept.

You cycle through quests with everyone taking turns posting whatever they want to hunt instead of just dropping into a quest and popping a SOS flare.

Its the same thing. Instead of bone lance I, bone lance II, bone lance III, boner lance I, etc. it just levels up your base bone lance. Leveling up allows for you to take your shitty low rank weapon and get it up to grank true raw as well, with a few exceptions.

I don't see what your problem is. Leveling up makes the base weapon stronger, 'upgrading' is just reforging the weapon into an entirely different one. Plus half of the upgrades on there can just be directly forged later when you have the mats.

Yeah, you upgrade to a new weapon. What are you not getting here?

nigga, literally just fight and the bar will rise, when it gets full (or even if it doesnt), take a breather and use the barrel (in the item wheel) it will shake the barrel and show you possible combinations (which there are more of) shake again to get the next "level" of items or press the button to create it, you will need atleast 4 bars to create the alchemic multiplier item, then just multiply the other items available by shaking the shit out of it

it's literally the same fucking system you retard, it's the presentation that is different. you level up the weapon until you reach an upgrade tier that lets you branch off at certain milestones. jesus christ.

>I don't see what your problem is.
The first problem with it is that it seems to just require money and a wildcard assortment of random parts until it hits an experience level, which sort of goes against the strongest premise of Monster Hunter in and of itself.

See above. It's literally not the same system. You're getting caught up like a buffoon on the naming system rather than the underlying mechanics of it, which is the major problem. If you want to talk visuals and naming sense, sure, you're right. But you're still stupid.

I beat the base game and now im a little uninspired to play more past g3. I think i need a break or a new weapon, i like Ariel/guild Hammer or striker GS, any suggestions to switch it up?

Alchemy S&S with Nargu's set work's out pretty well even when solo-ing

>Playing as Prowler
>hunt 2 cephadrome
>kill one
>second one starts limping and runs away
>time's up
God fucking damnit
Prowlers are fun as fuck but the damage output is two low without beast mode.

Don't force yourself to play
SnS is pretty fun though. No Perfect Rush, but oils make it really flexible, and the Hunter Arts are all super satisfying to use.

not that guy but, try comparing screens from 2 bone weapons in both games, the "levels" is the same as "bone I" & "bone II" and such, you "unlock" possible changes when you level or when you reach the next "branch" on that same line (as in you can choose not to upgrade into that first branch and keep "leveling up" until you reach the branch you want

You literally didn't read anything I wrote in that first paragraph. Or the second one for that matter. Why did you reply to me?

Here. Now its simple enough even a world baby can understand it

Attached: worldbabies.png (1216x605, 134.95K)

you're the one that's getting caught up in the presentation you utter buffoon.

>LITERALLY the exact system present in world~
holy shit you can even see an example of that in the very picture I posted. kill yourself

I was kinda eyeing SnS. Tried LS and DS but those are too weeb for me. Better to be a knight!

because you still dont understand that is the same thing but presented in another way in world

Which weapon are you using? I stomped that challenge with aerial ig. I have been using that same combo since Gen on 3ds however, so exploiting all of their openings with it is second nature.

>world babies
I'm starting to believe the Gen U shitposters less and less that they are "never aggressive against the World players!"
Also, started with Tri.

>you're the one that's getting caught up in the presentation you utter buffoon.
I literally just laid out that its a different mechanic altogether. Previously, you went down the tree with specific material components, and you had a specific version of the weapon.

Gen U is apparently based off of applying any assortment of materials until experienced is reached for the next level, where you thereby unlock the ability to then actually do the upgrade.

Why the fuck the extra step here? Why the new system? Why was this hard for you guys to understand?

It's a different mechanic now, isn't it? Also introduces cancerous experience systems into the game. You go on like this and you're going to wind up leveling up your STR stat next. Hot garbage.

God damn, you are a fucking idiot. You can't even understand a basic upgrade system.

the "level" is not a level like in games, is just the numbered upgrade in itself, to put it in a way, to go from "iron gospel I" dealing 50 ATK to i dunno, "silver ichimonji" dealing 100 atk, in world you basically just pay lets say 10K, give 10 specific materials plus 5 rocks and 5 wood, in U, you have this "Iron gospel I" 50ATK and upgrades into "Iron Gospel II" with 60 ATK, and the upgrade costed you just 1 rock and 1 wood and 2k, you do the same 5 times and you reach "silver ichimonji" which only requires those 10 specific materials and money and BAM new weapon.
its the same concept, but sub-divided in specific levels to allow more space for branching

I believe my original statement was that I just didn't like it. I understand it completely fine, it's just cancer and puts me off. With your aggressive bite back about a minor thing, it also is starting to make me less salty about the transition between 4U and World.

>Gen U is apparently based off of applying any assortment of materials until experienced is reached for the next level, where you thereby unlock the ability to then actually do the upgrade.
all the upgrades still require specific materials, but linear upgrades (bone I -> bone II -> bone III, for example) require a type of material in addition to the others that you can fulfill however you want.

They literally just changed it so instead of
>10 rajang dicks
>5 deviljho balls
>1 rathalos mantle

an item would instead be
>3 rajang dicks
>2 deviljho balls
>1 rathalos mantle
>10 rathalos parts

Essentially making it a bit easier to make items if you get unlucky. The items still require materials, and they may require rare materials, but instead of needing tons of super rare break only materials you have a choice with some filler stuff. Same with leveling. You'll still require roughly the same amount of material to go from bone I to bone II (in the old system) but instead it'll be bone lance (level 1 -> level 3), with level 2 for example only needing random ores that you can fill with anything. Items still require specific materials which is what you're hung up on, there's just some inbetween where you can substitute random shit.

It's full of chinamen with chinese names like Xiao1221313131

Please don't include me in your weird feud with GU/World, I just think you're a fucking idiot. It's not cancer, it's literally upgrades as always in all but name. You should have absolutely no problem with it if you've actually played a MH game before.

Dual Blades
It's a lot harder to mount certain monsters given their movements, like Glav and Mizu. While Valtraax is a nightmare to deal with given how he can zoom across the map

Is that really how you justify the introduction of levels/cancer into your favorite system? It's literally getting a step closer to "Just fight monsters and build up experience to level up"

From what I've played around with in the starting gear, it appears that the level ups require significantly less materials than what it used before. Seems like casualization, even if I ignore the levels.

>Essentially making it a bit easier to make items if you get unlucky. The items still require materials, and they may require rare materials, but instead of needing tons of super rare break only materials you have a choice with some filler stuff
This wasn't an issue in the older games though. The worst thing I ever farmed for in vanilla Tri was a Laggy gem, and I got that after 15 hunts at worse. It also forced me to pay attention to what I was breaking and aim after them, instead of just being a sort of "second place" consolation prize I got for participation.

>Please don't include me in your weird feud with GU/World
That's on you, mate. Not me. I'm not the one making passive aggressive charts then saying "Fucking World Babies" now am I? If you want to drag up a feud, do it, but don't pussy the fuck out when you're called out on it like you're somehow absolved of your bullshit.

Can you fags just ignore the falseflagging retard

dude, you dont build up experience, i dont know where you get that idea, it does say level but its not by fighting, geez

Not even the same guy, moron. But judging by your post it's obvious now you're just trying to stir shit up. Just go to /mhg/ fag, why do you feel the need to derail shit on the one of few GU threads?

Do you really have to get this defensive over a single flaw? I would have just been fine if someone had said "Yeah, that's rubbish, but whatever", but then I had a retard playing dumb at me for 3 posts, and now it's just exploded into this shit show when I was really just hoping for an answer.

Yeah, but it's a step away from turning into experience. It's also a slightly shittier system.

>This wasn't an issue in the older games though.
You've never had to make shit that required mohran allbraces in 3U. People always bitch about mantles but it was always things that required specific breaks and mediocre drop rates that were the absolute worst to farm, especially because you'd only need like 2-3 mantles, whereas with specific break parts you'd usually need a lot more.

it really doesnt feel like it to me, but to each their own, user, enjoy yourself

See the first part of , and then genuinely get over whatever inferiority
complex you're having right now.

Horseshit. You ever had to farm for Gobul Lantern+? That little tiny shit was hard to hit and those Lanterns would drop maybe 1/5 hunts, and you required like 2-3 of them on several different good parts and decorations. Just git gud.

Stop shitting up the thread.

>try to main DBs
>constantly short on Mega Dash Juice
Meowster Hunters doesn't give enough Gypceros for this shit
