Why do people keep using this hack as their "inspiration"? to be honest it just feels so cheap these days, oh, need a plot? its the ancient ones OoOoOo. scary isnt it? oh, also dont forget to add the spooky octopus, those are scary aswell.
Fuck this hack and every "game" that use him as a source material
Is there one Lovecraft monster not related to anything Aquatic?
Hudson Bennett

Why do you feel compelled to post shitty unfunny memes just to be a contrarian?
Robert Long
That black thing looks kinda like a monkey. It's a cool picture showing the concept of indescribable but I don't find it creepy or unsettling at all. It's just a random mess
Brandon Perez
>retarded zoomers who can't play games that have more than 1 button and who have never read a book in their lives trying to disparage one of the most influential writers of horror not going to lie; pretty funny. You unfunny faggots should stick to posting wojacks and killing Yas Forums more
Landon Ramirez
bro they’re scary because u can’t imagine them haha aaaaaaaaaa I’m scared rn!!

lefty here but not a dicklet or mad. Only lunatics can't disassociate a person's beliefs from their art, and only retarded lunatics hold past generations to some weird modern moral standard.
AHHH FUUUUCKK! A NIGGER!!! MY SANITY!! NOOOO!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!
Robert Roberts
Neat setting is about it. His writing isn't that great but one thing I really liked was his detailed faux history and geography. Inventing a real sounding river, town names, going into frankly unnecessary detail in these areas is a nice touch that reminded me a little of how tolkein will have like four pages dedicated to the exact kind of comb frodo used on his pubes that morning
Ethan Kelly
HP Lovecraft is based. Retard zoomers don’t get his books
>OOOO i cant imagine this thing, so scaryyyy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Evan Butler

>Skinny, sickly, weird/most definitely autistic, socially isolated incel who didn't lose his virginity until he was like 35 and hated black people
This guy was Yas Forums personified.
Bentley Baker
>implying they ever read one and didn't just play some shitty game based loosely on his mythos
Liam Hall
Lovecraft himself acknowledged that much of what he wrote is pure shit. He wrote a lot of texts without care to be published in crappy magazines. Anyway, some of the things he wrote are good, but they will never work in other media.
Xavier King
AHHHHHHHH NIGGERMAN, SAVE ME!!!!!!
Wyatt Flores
That’s what true horror is. Unimaginable fear and shit that people can’t comprehend. Fear of the unknown is the ultimate fear and what’s HP Lovecraft does in his books perfectly.
Liam Lopez
>he lost his virginity before dying nothing like Yas Forums at all, sorry.
Julian Peterson
I think op is mad that any hack fraud trying to do horror just says they are "inspired" by HP Lovecraft and throw some octopus in there too, not about the writer or the books themselfs. If he wasn't drowning in his autistic rage I'm sure he'd explain it better. But maybe I'm just giving him too much credit
IS THAT A SQUID?? AAA AAA AAAAAAAAAH IM GOINGGGGG INSAAAAAANE AAAAAAAAAA
HELP ME NIGGERMAN
Jeremiah Anderson
Well my point is, MOST games these days use him as some sort of influence, every hack that is trying to reinvent the fucking wheel puts the spooky mythos reference in one of their games, it just gets boring once you start seeing the same shitty tentacles over and over again.
Jayden Ortiz
Fear of the unknown is what scares people the most. Just because you’re being a contrarian faggot doesn’t change that.
Ayden Murphy
You're the kind of guy who thinks the true ending of Bloodborne is you turn into a slug.
Jacob Baker
Except its not a squid moron.
Samuel Morris
STOP MAKING THIS THREAD >OH NO HIS PARENTS NAMED HIS CAT NIGGERMAN EVERYONE MUST BE RACIST BECAUSE THEY LIKE LOVECRAFT FUCK OFF. THE LORE IS WELL WRITTEN.
Jayden Taylor
>oh yeah user i'm so scared of shit idk yeah, right
You think i give a fuck he hated black people? i couldnt care less about that, all i'm saying is that he is a hack, and that people should stop using his garbage
Colton Moore
I assume you're not afraid of death then?
Tyler Howard
Shut up nigger.
Julian King
You're a hack
Jack Johnson
I fucking hate how everyone equates Lovecraftian=aquatic/tentacles when the vast majority doesn't even give a single fuck about that shit
They don't care to know anything. I used to be apart of a Lovecraft facebook group and all fucking day it was >cat name >racism bad All fucking day long. This idiot is no different.
Kevin Moore
Ok, which well-known "Lovecraftian" games are you seething about?
There is Bloodborne and what else? Eternal Darkness is older than most people here. I know quite a few more, but COCDCoE, Darkness Within, Sunless Sea, Penumbra and so on are all really fucking niche. What the fuck is your problem?
Mason Morris
>someone asks why something is >explain it >UH OH RENT FREE
example 1: Yas Forumsyp logic
Evan Lee
Because he was slightly racist, I just wish he was more so. I support racism and condemn faggotry, deal with it.
so ignore anything using his stuff you massive faggot. let other people enjoy what they want
Isaac Morgan
Its almost like it used universal sci fi themes. Like half of Lovecraft's literature is sci fi.
Nolan Watson
>Fuck this hack and every "game" that use him as a source material But they dont use him as source material. Giant tentacle monsters is not lovecraftian.
Kevin Russell
I got his complete works recently because it was on sale, here are some thoughts despite not reading all of it yet.
Lovecraft is VERY good at writing suspense, that's probably the thing he's best at, strangely to the point that it feels like he uses it as a crutch because the actual stories feel a little wanting. As an example The Beast in the Cave has really good descriptions of a somber acceptance of dieing alone in a cave only to be driven to a sudden adrenaline fueled panic when the protagonist realizes he isn't alone, but the whole thing was ruined for me when the ending was literally "The monster was a big fucking monkey the whole time, but it wasn't, it was a man!!!" (he did actually write it with three exclamation marks and in bold lol). Granted that was a very early story of his but I think that it highlights issues with what he goes on to write. What a lot of videogames fail to understand is that it wasn't these terrible things that Lovecraft wrote about that were scary, but what we didn't know about them, like in Dagon it isn't scary that the protag was taken to Dagon, it was scary because this world you felt like you knew and was predictable was suddenly up heaved in such a terrifyingly unexpected way that in your home you feel unsafe now. Like shit, if you go to cthulu's house and just see him chilling you understand more about him and that makes him inherently less scary, when you don't know why things are happening, what to do about them, or even any somewhat related information about it that's what's scary.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that when a raccoon is making a lot of noise in the dumpster at 2 AM the approach is a lot more scarier that actually seeing the thing. Fuck WoW for actually going to nazjatar and nyalotha.
He was actually very sociable, he was good Friends with Carl Jung and Robert E Howard, and both their novels sometimes had crossovers.
He wasn't isolated either, he was actually much more of an outsdoor person who hiked and camped out a lot. That's why a good ammount of his characters are explorers or investigators.
People don't know much about HP HP Lovecraft, his books, or even the actual cthulhu mythos. The books often emphasize that a good ammount of the "monsters" and settings aren't even real and it's just unreliable narrators going coo coo.
Daniel Johnson
Lol how do people fall for any of this disingenuous bologna.
Tentacles only comes to mind because it's nice and simple. You can't market Eldritch to the masses if it's hard to comprehend or requires actual imagination.
>Tons of generic, uninspired zombie/ghost/skeleton games >Maybe like 4 Lovecraft inspired games

>halfway trough the game >the tentacle man reference appears again
What am i supose to do you dumb ass, should all games using this hack as reference say it in their covers?
because gamedevs are uncultured, soulless autists who only ever read that incel and similar pop/horror garbage. Lovelesscraft is probably the most high brow author they've ever read. It's the sole reason why video games aren't taken seriously as an art form yet. The gamedev industry (even the indie scene) only seems to attract designer autists/furries and really smart but uninspired programmers. Earthbound is one of the few games that get essay after essay praising their artistic merit, and guess what: it was directed by an actual writer instead of a gamedev
