The core loop of the gameplay is solid and fun, but I can't see myself remembering much of it in 5-10 years. There's a lot about this game that feels messy and disconnected, like there was no core vision governing development like there was with 2016.

I don't really have any problem with the game's design, I'm just saying those elements in doom 2016 and eternal are distinctly retro, not because the character himself is some insane badass that can carry every weapon at once. I like the game I just think that the story is going too far and it should keep things simple, because going into this 'logical conclusion' stuff like wow doomguy kills all the demons and runs fast and holds lots of guns turns into mega cringe. I'm clearly not the only one who thinks that either, a more mundane characterization for him being just a marine suited him more.
