I use the glaive, hatchet, and most recently the spear. I don't want to use weapons I'm familiar with from NIOH 1 until after my first playthrough and haven't had trouble with any boss before him.

Oh yeah, its even worse because when he gets that aura on himself all of your attacks will bounce off him, even in high stance.
But like the first game you can bait attacks that leave him open.

Humanoid bosses besides Azai so far have been pretty shit imo. Besides Date and maybe Hideyoshi in Nioh 1 they were sorta shit too besides maybe the real Muneshiggy fight for the first time.

The Yokai fights are the majority and a fucking blast each and every one of them some hard others easy but all of them very enjoyable. But honestly Azai is more Yokai then humanoid just small Yokai.

I think they still have issues balancing the human bosses like bosses and not revenants with a few tricks. Might've been scared to deck them out too hard and they feel like bullshit maybe. I feel like they should've whiff melee attacks at such ridiculous never gonna hit ranges though.

Overall i'm loving it my complaints are super minor and Nioh 1 was like a 7.5 i felt had potential Nioh 2 improves most things keeps some of the bad shit but is coming out to be the best game of the "soulslike" genre or w.e in my heart. Its combat has depth i've only seen somewhat in Code Vein and all the other soulslikes are pretty shallow.

Bosses have alot going on and a good sense of AI at alot of ranges. I just feel like it can be easy to run away and make em whiff shit which makes me feel bad as a defensive player since they do it so much.

I like the yokai abilities but they should not be randomized with levels and shit. They should be like guardian spirits meaning you get one of each and they should have fixed bonuses.

Usually I follow the hose, help them find Kodama or just generally give them a boost when things get tough.
I usually let them battle Revenants on their own though, unless they look like they're about to die.

The enemy and boss designs are incredible, the new levels are amazing but the balance is absolutely atrocious, the enemies have pathetic health and are far too thin in numbers which ruins their movesets, while Yokai Skills are extremely fun but terribly balanced within each other which also greatly harms the system and the poor Burst Counter changes have continued to rear their head. My views haven't particularly changed there and it's something that constantly gets in the way, but at the same time everything that's good about the game is as always a total unmatched joy to play when you actually have to play it, especially with the new cancel options letting you pull off some insane shit.
Onmyo magic is largely about varied elemental infliction, buffs and debuffs. You can pump Onmyo Magic Power and make it do more damage but that's not entirely the point.

Honestly make DSP who sits in mid stance and sometimes switches to high look like entertaining gameplay. Framerate is good with few if any drops, textures can be kinda fucked but otherwise manageable.
Character creator is great and people have pumped out some good stuff, give it a whirl.

You can, you can even parry some yokai bosses too.
Any non-skill attack from a human boss can be parried with no sweat.

I'm playing on PS4 Pro and action mode is great, but the graphics are pretty disappointing.

So does luck affect boss skill drops and smith texts?

I said this in another thread but the easy solution would be to leave the drop rates as they are, but make Item Drop Rate effects vastly stronger or make Luck apply to items dropped as well though it might already do that, I was never entirely sure. That means the rarity of getting them is still a thing but you can actively build into it to make it much less of a hassle if you're committing to hunting them. But since they don't deal in common sense there's no way this will ever happen.

You gotta kill the crystal in the dark realm to get rid of the revenant. I stubbornly tried to do the duo fight and got really close but eventually said fuck it and killed the crystal. The game is just not designed for the duo fights like this.
