So... is it still going to be good? According to leaks we're losing a bunch of stuff that gave the series character and separated it from other life sims. No more fine art collecting, no more black market, coffee shop is gone, gyroids are gone, the post office is gone, fortune telling is out, a bunch of furniture isn't returning, horned caps are out, and I could probably go on. All without confirmation that they'll return. Will the base game still be decent? Am I going to have to shell out for an expansion pass on the hopes that maybe the devs will be gracious enough to add this stuff back?

Not please about all the stuff missing, but I do still want to play the game. The best case scenario, all the missing stuff will be added in with the holiday updates. Worst case scenario, the holiday updates just add holidays and nothing else, or all the missing shit is added back in paid DLC. I guess we'll know which it is based on whether the day 1 Easter update includes anything other than the holiday.

honestly AC is one of the best games to keep alive through DLC (as long as it's free). Adding new villagers, furniture, events etc every few weeks/months just makes sense. That said, stuff like Redd and Brewster and Gyroids have no reason to be cut from the base game.
