I didn't see it but even if there wasn't we should level our expectations. The guy already went on a rant about why PS4 BC was such a struggle, he maybe setting us up to let us know that 3, 2 & 1 are not a realistic or affordable reality.

I'd expect them to do some sort of update to include limited Ps3 compatibility at some point. I would certainly not hold my breath for ps2 or ps1 compatibility.

Yeah, but that's not all there is. You can make your PC to do anything but a console needs to be affordable and might not have the parts that you need to make a lasting machine at the price you'd want. I can emulate PS2 games at 4k with my mid range PC, you'd think a console releasing this year could do better but there are more factors in play than 'my PC can do it, my CELL PHONE can do it, why can't they?'

If they're not going to put it in the console I wish they'd release a modern PS2, at least, that plugs to HDMIs and can play the games at the same level as a PS3, at least. THAT shouldn't be too hard.

Part of the issue is that the PS2 didn't have digital video outputs, and those analog->HDMI converter boxes introduce lag. Sony would either have to borrow stuff from the PS3, or engineer a new solution, probably increasing costs either way.

Yes it's using PCSX ReARMed with a slightly modified front end for game selection. You can get out into the regular menu pretty easily, ends up just being a $35 Raspberry Pi 3 inside a PS1 shell for $100

They had ps1 compatibility on ps2 and 3. But they dropped it on ps4 even though there was absolutely no reason for it

ps1 and 2 are on the safe side since their respective emulators are mature enough, but if you can't find a replacement console say goodbye to your ps3 games for quite a while
