Perfection

Games that are absolutely flawless.

Spelunky - FTL - Slay the Spire
The holy trinity of roguelites.

I like Spelunky but it can get extremely gay when you have to do shit like bringing the key all the way to the desert place, feels impossible when the levels are dark

That's excusable because it's literally the final step for the final shortcut
Now, the shit they made you do in Spelunky Classic was unbelievable. New Spelunky is much more fair overall

lads
I finally did it last week
spelunky 2 when

Good job man took me forever to beat hell the first time
Also same I want spelunky 2 so bad

This game brought out my inner demon of gamer rage. Beat Yama once and quit.

>stop killing shopkeepers except at the black market
>start winning way more often

I can't imagine the autism required to ghostrun stuff, I'm just glad I was able to 100% it.

I hate the instant kill shit in this game

>flawless

Beat Spelunky hundreds if times over thousands of hours. It's kinda sad

Random shopkeeper hyper armor is ultra gay
I've had tons of runs end because he phased through my shotgun blast and gibbed me

Nay

Nah it's pretty lame to plan out a move perfectly and still get punished at random because fuck you
Spelunky is amazing precisely because everything is extremely consistent and predictable, so it's always your fault if you die. The shopkeeper hyperarmor is the only blemish on this achievement.

>Spelunky is amazing precisely because everything is extremely consistent and predictable
An enemy throwing a boomerang at a shopkeeper in the black market is anything but.

>It's perfect bro, it's hard but fair!

Enemies don't throw boomerangs unless you're directly in front of them. If you cause them to throw it and there's a shopkeeper between you two, then it's absolutely your fault.
Though if I had to name another flaw it would be the shopkeepers' inability to establish causality. It's rare, but sometimes a red frog will get tiki'd inside of his shop and you get blamed for it. Kinda lame but I've only had it happen like 5 times across hundreds of runs.

>Enemies don't throw boomerangs unless you're directly in front of them.
I have been in a situation where I entered a shop and the enemy was right behind the shopkeeper. As soon as he entered the screen he threw the boomerang at the shopkeeper in attempt to hit me.
I recognize that this is extremely rare, but it's also not something you can predict.

I've been really into classics lately and I never played HD because I've wanted to experience the original fully first. I got to the city of gold, I can play the miner, good stuff. What's worse than HD?

They don't throw the boomerang the moment they show up on screen. I'm very familiar with the range of those fuckers, and you'd have to cross a few tiles first before they're triggered, at which point you would've had plenty of time to react and go the other way.
There are definitely times where offscreen interactions can set off a shopkeeper, but I assure you that was not one of them.

You can not run into or drop in shops carelessly. The situation you describe is avoidable.

Maybe his sprite was hiding behind the shopkeeper. Regardless, how am I supposed to buy the Ankh if the boomerang guy is on the top floor? Can't kill him, and he'll immediately throw his boomerang if I even come close.

Wait for him to turn around and jump on him. They only throw the boomerang if you get in front of them; they can't 180 quickscope you.

Terraria

I can hardly get past the jungle, but I still love the game.

I'll prob get really into it once the 2nd one comes out.

Will Spelunky 2's characters have different abilities or is it just all cosmetic again?

I'd much prefer them to be cosmetic

>bothering with damsels before getting the golden hat

not gonna make it

Why would you not want to build up your relationship with kali before that?

Steamworld Dig shits all over it.

This is probably the text book definition of someone who hasn't played either game, but still wanted to claim superiority.

Not flawless, Fucking dark levels it was so close to perfection.

so many great memories from this game, i just wanna play spelunky 2 already

>just play patiently, bro
>don't worry about the fact that every level there is a soft cap time limit and you have to collect a specific amount of valuables just to see the mega ultra super ending
>who cares if the shopkeeper gets angry off-screen for something you had no influence at all bro just stomp on the shopkeeper's head lmao free items nigga
>LUL you need damsels? they are completely 1000000% optional and you don't REALLY need them check out my no dmg run bro who gives a shit if she dies to something outside of your control
>WHAAAAAAAAAT?!?!? YOU DIDNT PREDICT THAT THE STONE YOU JUST THREW ACTIVATE THE BAT WHO FLIES TOWARDS YOU WHICH IN TURN ACTIVATES A TRAP WHICH FIRES AN ARROW THAT TURNS INTO A SPIRALLING TURD OF WHICH THE SMELL ENTERS THE SHOPKEEPER'S SHOP, VIOLATING THE NAP AND THE SHOPKEEPER FIRING A BULLET TOWARDS YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION WHICH IN TURN HITS A GIANT SPIDER FALLING DOWN TOWARDS ON YOU???????????????? ARE YOU RETARDEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
nah, i'll stick to real games, like caveblazers

i played both - sell your rectal projector. Spelunky is watered down version of either Steamworld Dig and Binding of Isaac and i'd rather play two of these than something faggot OP, hopefully for shits and giggles, claims to be perfection.
Tetris is perfection. The Floor is Jelly is perfection. 140 is perfection. Perfection would have something perfect involved in it (that is, when game has not a single protruding plank, not a single unnecessary element to remove from it) and Spelunky is a hot, undercooked mess that aged like shit.

TONY HAAAAAAWWWWKKKK
TONY HAAAAAAWWWWKKKK

pure gameplay perfection. no other game has better controls. more fun to move around in than even Mario 64.

Steamworld Dig and Spelunky play very differently from eachother, the comparison just makes you look retarded.

Attached: ps2_ssx_3-110214.jpg (640x908, 115.6K)

your mom is retarded for letting you live

spelunky precedes both steamworld and BoI
its also nothing like BoI.
you have no idea what you're talking about dude

>Slay the Spire
Oh you mean that game without single frame of animation? God what a lazy fucking piece of shit.

based

isaac and gungeon are way fucking better than this shit lmao

>scientist friend falls in hole
>follow him
>get locked out of the best ending
still kino

It's kind of a weird complaint because the music is actually really good but after playing it over and over is annoying. Maybe they're could've been more tracks.

The "roguelike" genre is cancer

true
you can't win a discussion with that "arguments"

The shopkeeper music sucks dick and is literally a 10 second loop
I just play muted nowadays since I'd otherwise be listening to that shit for 15 minutes per run

okay whatever but that has nothing to do with the argument we're having, especially considering that you said that you'd rather play BoI, which implies you do like some roguelites after all

Oh I'm not him, I'm just saying that the roguelike label is dumb because it causes people to directly compare games that couldn't be more different just because they have one mechanic in common.

and that somehow makes it better, let alone perfect?
I don't even consider it a debate, when i talk to a retard. Your mindset is literally this:
>hurr durr one is a robot, one is a nathan drake with a hat >one is about exploring caves and collecting gold & jewelry, occasionally visiting store to buy upgrade and consumables, while is about exploring totally different set of caves, collecting gold & jewelry, occasionally visiting store to buy upgrade and consumables, but you die a lot
Jus because one is story-driven and only pretends to play like roguelite (on first run you're shooting in the dark exactly the same), doesn't make it "completely different", but you keep deluding yourself and drooling over your beloved goty that's shit and was superceded multiple times in its own playground.

Based

hey it's my favorite game of all time

play more games

making progress m8, I get your point now
but don't assume it's my "beloved goty", no need to assume some things straight from ass

Isaac suffers way too much from item bloat. The game had enough content back in Wrath of the Lamb, but now you can't get a single damage upgrade on a run because the item pool has been flooded with 300 items that do jack shit.

im good thanks

like what faggot?

You ain't done it yet. Next step is 2 million+ gold run.

>and that somehow makes it better, let alone perfect?
yeah no im not OP i just think steamworld dig is an entirely different game and imo boring because i went into it for more spelunky myself
while the similiarities are striking on the surface, both games play very differently
thematically the same, they're both sidescrollers, but that's it

Retard
