Pbuh

gabe's getting old.... :(

I've missed him.

Santa?

update tf2 already you fat fuck

Valve software? Its VALVE CORP

Remember when Gabe tried to lure the German hacker kid into the US by saying he was offering him a job at Valve

gabe's hair/beard has been steadily draining his last traces of morality from him over the last decade

God himself

I wonder if they're making a prequel because they don't want to mess with laidlaw's discarded shit, or because they realized that city 17 is an infinitely more interesting setting than some boat in the north pole.

Also same way I felt about the transition between hl1 and hl2, desu. Black mesa is an underrated setting and I wish there was more of it.

Gabe's time is over. He soiled himself.

>Gabe is only 57 years old
Holy shit he's as old as my dad.

Didn't realize he was still that young. I guess the unshave white beard does add on a lot of years.

jeff bridges not looking too great

It's only just begun.

when will gaben complete his transformation into RMS?

lifelong gamer

oh my god the magic still is there

>an infinitely more interesting setting than some boat in the north pole.
Nigger, fuck you. An Aperture lab in a snowed in landscape would've been cool.

Daily reminder Gaben doesn't care about HL, he just wants to sell his VR sets. You are all falling for the trap.

>Yeah I guess Half Life's back

I'M THINKING THEY'RE BACK

the most annoying posts: the thread

Where does the other half of his brain go?

>I'M THINKING I'M BACK
Oh my god don't give me hope.

This is all just an intermediary step to Gaben's master plan

His talk about privately owned company still rings true.

So, looking at Gayben on that interview, what are the odds that he is going to be one of the first test subjects for the brain interface sort of stuff?

it's probably going to be his son

dude's looking like an absolute chad

Thanks,

>His expression says it all.
Fucking end me

At least he acknowledged Artifact was a disappointing.

what are you talking about he's hilarious the whole video

He looks so old and tired

>Researching brain-computer interfaces
His honestly autistic, isn't he?

valve are a bunch of bottom feeders to carmack's genius
carmack invents FPS, and valve makes a derivative clone of it, gets lauded as "innovative" and "revolutionary".
carmack goes on a break sending rockets to space and shit, valve stagnates and turns into a retailer.
carmack invents VR, and valve's right back at it trying to be "revolutionary" on the back of someone else's technology.

what a bunch of hacks.

It might've been because jumping back in to ep3 would be quite difficult and come with a lot of baggage. You can't just retcon everything or reinvent the wheel gameplay-wise in a direct sequel. People are much more receptive to changes to canon when they're in prequels like HLA.

so basically Yas Forums

valve has literally never made a single original game they didn't rip off from tiny developers or literal students/modders except for the half life series
at least they are actually trying something new again

Yes and?

I think it has more to do with the fact that it would've been a shitstorm to announce HL3 as a VR exclusive. At this point they can't easily jump into HL3 but a prequel is still fair game.

>yeah I'm thinkin' half-life's back

>valve are a bunch of bottom feeders to carmack's genius
lol retard

>it would've been a shitstorm to announce HL3 as a VR exclusive
Specially as a VR tech demo.

Why can't it be both?

WHY IS THE STEAM STORE DOWN

are you gonna send him a mail at [email protected] and let him know what you think, Yas Forums?

Gaben's looking at this guy and thinking "I wonder what noise he'd make if I snapped him in two"

The best part is that Carmack will will kill them like he killed his cat once they stop being useful.

Rabbi Newell

it all makes sense now

I love the way he talks. It sounds so comfy and sincere.

>Valve are actually looking into brain interfaces
Thank God. The current level of VR is such a wet noodle, I'm glad to see someone important is seriously thinking about the way to make it actually good.

Zuck already ended Carmack's entire career
>engage in corporate espionage at Zuck's behest
>get embroiled in a nasty lawsuit with Zenimax
>essentially blacklisted himself from the industry despite being celebrity tier
>overreached too much on the Quest project in regards to sideload/link
>Zuck furious about his walled garden being breached
>lets Carmack "retire"
>still under noncompetition clause, not that anyone trusts a known spy

Continuing off from HL2Ep2 came with too much extra emotional baggage for the employees. At least four major Half-Life sequel projects died (HL2Ep3, HL3 2011 iteration, HL3 2013 iteration, HL3 2015 iteration) because of internal arguments over creative differences. Laidlaw specifically published his own personal vision for what HL2Ep3 should have been specifically because he knew he would never win over enough other people at Valve to make a HL sequel like that.

HLA is basically a reboot to try to shed the baggage. If they took the already finished HLA and said "Why don't we just call this HL3" over half of the employees would revolt because "not MY vision of what HL3 should be" and kill the project literally right before it was about to ship.

Not so much old as it is, he's surrounded by backstabbing snakes. Let's not forget Valve's lawyers in Australia and Europe and their blatant disregard for the law.

where are the memes? i came here for the memes

Laidlaw posted what a short-short version of the original Episode 3 story would look like, then added in a message for his former work buddies. Everything else you said is probably also wrong, but since nobody at Valve ever makes a peep about development until the game is out, we'll never know for sure until Half-Life: Alyx comes out.

Valve's actual goal remains unchanged: to be the forefront of potentially dangerous new technologies so that they can dictate how it progresses.
Imagine if EA or Ubisoft established their digital distribution hubs before STEAM.
Imagine if Facebook corners brain interfaces before Valve.
Gaben is always looking out for us and the stakes just keep getting higher

Gabe a soulless chink slave and I ain't giving that fatty a single dime.

damn so he knows of us?

Damn he looks really good. Good on him.

Looks and seems healthier now than he ever did.

"We" used to send him daily emails.

It's the chinks that worship gabe user.

They literally call him what's essentially the phrase "Big G" there.
