>character can now climb and jump
Holy shit based dogs, showing everyone how a game is made!
Character can now climb and jump
So Ellie can jump now but Kratos cant? What the fuck happened?
Ulillillia did it better
Is there a jump button or is it an auto/contextual jump?
They're back in the gameplay of Uncharted. Give them another decade and you might get glimpses of Crash-gameplay again.
This all stuff from the first game though
Truly innovative. It'll bring the video game medium into new interactive spheres unimaginable before.
I'm not one to nonono post but those animations look kind of embarrassing for a flagship.
this is the power crunch.....
The way she jumps is stupid. If you have enough space to jump onto something, and are barley gonna move to get momentum before you jump, then why not just go to the edge and jump using both legs?
I'd assume it'd be like uncharted if they're making a big deal out of it.
It seems goofy since lots of games have a jump button, but it's not necessarily a trivial inclusion. Look how different combat and level design is in Sekiro compared to Dark Souls since they added a jump button.
Contextual movement is the fucking worst thing ever
What pissed me off more was people praising GOW for Kratos making footprints in the snow and the axe having controller feedback, both of which have been done for years
so now its uncharted?
This + swimming and other movements should be MANDATORY in any game with obstacles & a human character with 4 limbs : it's pretty sad how tons of new games don't have these basic actions and you can barely interact with the environment!
>a 25 year old game has better animations than a AAA game
it is, god i hate it
user, most of the kiddies on Yas Forums don't even know who Ulillillia even is, so I am sorry to say that your joke will be lost on them.
I heard Yahtzee make a similar argument once that all games should have a jump button just for simple trouble shooting, like if your character model get's stuck in geometry or some other video game bullshit.
>not doing the handstand
pleb
All anything nuND does just seems so sad after having watched that interview with the Crash 1 dev.
But will there be a fishing minigame?
How the fuck did Naughty Dog become so lame in terms of game design?
The Last of Us already had swimming
That snow deformation when she jumped on the truck didn't look good.
ahem, realism is a cancer
Cuckmann, and a shit ton of diversity hires.
Scripted event like the whole game. You can "play" through last of us 2 by just pushing left stick forward.
Neil Druckmann isn't a game designer, just a writer. He also worked on the Jak and Daxter games.
with the technical attention to detail that TLoU II oozes this addition to the gameplay is extremely impressive.
This is more of a severe problem in tlou but they basically eliminated the connecting framework of the game and replaced it with effectively glorified cutscenes. You can't realistically fail uncharted's platforming, you can't get realistically get lost or be required to navigate, what's left outside of a few token puzzles are disconnected combat arenas. Same thing that plagued doom 2016 as much less hated as it is than uncharted.
So they're making it more Uncharted huh
I guess that's alright, the big open fights in Uncharted 4 were pretty good
>woah, this contextual platforming will revolutionize the industry
God, purge this world
Doom 2016 had a handful of non-linear levels and rewarded the player for exploration in a more meaningful way. In Uncharted the most you get is a useless artefact.
Sorry, this is too "video gamey". Needs more epic camera angles and close up shots of Lara's face while the player mashes a QTE.
HAHA, the fucking snow when she hit the trailer.
No, but there will be a fisting minigame.
I refuse to believe this is an actual person but a cleverly contained act.
No one can be this stupid and autistic.
I don't know why you're comparing Tomb Raider to The Last of Us when one is a platformer and the other a shooter. If you were to compare the shooting mechanics in the old TR games they would pale in comparison to any combat situation in TLoU
I mean the work they put into capturing and programming the animations is impressive, but it's so much work just to make a mechanic we've had since the late 90's at least a little bit more flashy.
This is why I really don't like naughty dog. All they make these days are unoriginal cover shooters with high production value.
>naughty dog: this gameplay feature is new to the series
>Yas Forums: OMG NAUGHTY DOG INVENTED JUMPING!
Not necessarily defending it, but this just seems like unmitigated shitposting
damn... this really is for the players (and gaymers)
And if you compared the shooting in The Last of Us to something like Vanquish, TLoU would look similarly primitive and uninteresting.
Looks more like a bunch of contextual trigger gameplay and not like in uncharted where the vertical movement was in the hand of the player ( even if it was restricted and very linear in design)
It doesn't inspire confidence when the new gameplay additions they're advertising is just shit that has been around in other similar games for ages.
I'm sure this isn't a lame mechanic where you only hold forward at predetermined climbing spots like in Uncharted or God of War
I'm a massive ND fan, loved TLOU and beyond hype, but this looked so fucking clunky for some reason, maybe it's because we seem to play Ellie going through male puberty or something but the snow collision looks worse than TLOU1.
Kojima invented the camera, now ND creates the jump
it's surprising how few people are shitting on how fucked that snow effect looks, it's not just unimpressive it's jarring, especially considering it's supposed to be a naughty dog game
So it's got the exact same context-sensitive climbing and jump as in OoT, a game that came out over 20 years ago. Yes, very impressive.
looks worse than rdr2
I want to bury my face into her tight lesbian virginal pussy
are you redy to get hit right in the feels and ask yourself whos the bad guy when some grunt mumbles another grunts name after you killed one?
Nor cute nor funny. Also that snow effect is shittier than MH IB's.
>God of War 2018 revealed
>News comes out that they removed the jump button
>People lose their minds and start calling it a TLOU clone
>2019
>TLOU2 gameplay revealed
>Turns out it has a jump button
What a time to be alive
sony just can't stop winning
Can't you pole vault over rivers now?
Not sure how we can recover from this ACbros....
Actually yes, vanquish is far superior in gameplay design than tlou and uncharted because these games reward turteling and the pop up and shoot gunfights which is boring.
Vanquish even if it is flawed learned from the other 3rd person shooters and found a way to reward a more aggressive playstyle making it therefore more "engaging" or like normal people would say it is just more fun than these AAA movie games (allthough vanquish would have benefited from somekind of limit breaker button so that people could really have a" get in there" moment like in DMC or space marine and a different upgrade system for the weapons and it would have been even better)
>you can climb and jump dude this is a big thing
>watch this
>literally snapping into place to perform this
mm yes nothing says verticality like press button on the right terrain to perform a scripted animation for that terrain type.
not like we had free range jumping and platforming back in the 90s.
So glad to finally be able to jump while wondering who is the real monsters
>Naughty Dog is making platformers again
If I wanted some bing bing wahoo bullshit I'd buy a Switch
Fuck everything about 2 looks like a lame cash in, and this is coming from a guy that really enjoyed the first one
Yas Forums just wants something to shitpost about
see the kojima inventing the camera meme
This
>ND during Crash 1: So we had to break open the very source code and run calculations through the CPU alongside the GPU to carry every single piece of information of each of Crash's vertexes alongside the levels so we could have highly detailed level environments
>Current ND: We made a contextual jump that's not even new and it looks really janky. PRAISE US!
This is the exact same kind of movement that was in Zelda OoT
In Postal 2 if you got stuck in geometry the game would automatically free you.
I've yet to see another game repeat this.
