Make The Forest 2.
Seriously, The Forest was such a good horror game hidden behind a survival crafting game.
It's main problem was the mutants, the game discouraging you from base/trap building and the fact that 80% of the game takes place in caves, not the forest.

Cave spelunking in that game was great though, but spending most of the game there sucked the joy out of it. Diving into deeper caves was fun as fuck.

it was great, dont get me wrong.
but it's disappointing playing a game literally called THE FOREST when 80% of it takes place in caves.
the best loot is in caves.
the safest place to build a base is in caves.
not to mention that, apart from some cloth, flares and dynamite there's literally no reason to even go into the forest.

I really liked Resident Evil 2. I think it’s a horror game that’s the perfect balance. It feels grounded and genuine. Don’t know how to explain it but it’s good.

The scariest games I’ve ever played were the Penumbra series, which I could barely finish and Outlast 1. Those were games where I felt genuine fear but aside from that they weren’t memorable. I don’t even remember anything about Penumbra aside from being scared. I tried Amnesia too but it was too boring. Problem is that most horrors just throw in jump scares and slap a horror game sticker on it. Same with horror movies.

I've seen too much anime and live-action adaptions of them so jap horror always looks too goofy for me
