Yeah.
It's still the main MH on Switch so it's always active.
The main issue is that most players these days are only online for very late endgame content.
The good news is, it's one of the most soloable games in the series, because all you need to do is pick Adept or Brave and you can bypass 90% of all damage.
So unlike FU, 3U or 4U the solo progression is a bit different and basic equipment can take you far.

People do, but it somehow always had less people than mh4u or gen on 3ds ( i think). I also do sometimes, but after playing too much of f/f2/fu, 3u/p3, 4u - i'm kinda tired especially with the same maps, locations, no plot or sense of accomplishment that gen u offers. It's just nice to play online.

Can't wait to play this online with switch emulation.

No, not really, that's just blatantly false.
It's currently the MH title on a Nintendo console with the most online players.

Don't know, mate, how do you know that? Like, i've played 4u on 3ds last year and it had much more hubs in g rank than gen u and gen had even more. And i've never encountered having one or two hubs or not have them at all in 4u or gen.

I do still play MonHun GU. however, I never played any MonHun online. I hate people.

Tbqh, GU's solo is horrible, but i've played fu (with friends sometimes tho), 3u and 4u solo (4u cause something was wrong with my internet during the time i was playing it)

Never got brought over to the west but they should add monsters that were exclusive to those games into MH World since that game keeps getting updated with more monsters.

A few things help. Mind's Eye. Thunder Element. Aiming for wings. Flash bombs; combines. Generous lifepowders.

Mhgen U/generations is pretty okay in terms of sportsmanship and online being not cancerous, probably cause the game is just more easier and as user before said you can basically play g rank with an upgraded high rank armor, monsters are easier and cause it's not hardcore "make your own quest with a hardest monster" shit and people don't go elitist on it - the online is much better. I'm very good at monster hunter, but when i just return to play 4u sometimes just for fun and i don't change the armor, the guys are like lmao no evasion + or no special atribute or something and just kick you out, i was amazed by how many times i was kicked out for some dumb shit or some other guy, or people just whine at you cause they carted, like why did you use flashbomb noob or rushed or whatever, damn.
At the same time, i am the guy in gen u that kicks guys out, lmao, mostly if someone uses arts or attacks that make you fly, i recall there being like 3 gs users including me and some other used some charge sword attack that made us all fly when we were charging, that kind of stuff.
Also, part of the reason why it's not as elitist may be cause it's just chinks most of the time who don't give a fuck

You can play MHXX on Citra with the 60 fps hack and all the textures from the Switch version online already. It's still very active. And free.
