Yup

Yes

no. multiplayer was good

Story was pretty bad

>being a tripfag

MP was destroyed. It's actually so bad I forgot exactly how bad it was until I'm reminded.

Yes

>not being a tripfag

If only the Arbiter were there to pull chief out of the pod at the start.

No

I already guessed it wasn't going to be very good when I saw the first reveal and the stupid design changes. At least 343 is finally starting to listen.

Yeah, probably the worst version of halo mp. At least the campaign was better than 5's, though.

It had /BestCortana/

so no

Any Halo game with loadouts is instantly bad.

I honestly kind of liked what they did with Chief's character in that, but I get why people were bugged by the human/Forerunner retcons.

Humans and Forerunners were different species since pre Halo 3.
343i didn't need to introduce them at all.

Attached: .jpg (2910x2848, 461.87K)

Cortana was fine as fuck, the graphics were impressive on the Xbox 360, and the Campaign had some good moments.

Forerunner weapons fucking sucked though. They were all pretty redundant to existing weapons. New human weapons were alright, but didn't offer anything interesting. I don't remember there being any new Cov weapons at all though. I liked the Mantis also.

But you want to know what I really, truly remember about Halo 4? The final boss literally just had me press a button to win. Gay.

I still don't get why Spark told Chief "You ARE Forerunner" at the end of 3. Was he talking about Chief specifically, or about humanity in general.

Chief specifically

I really don't understand why people use an insane monitor's quote as a defense point for these types of arguments to begin with.

The writer clearly put it there for a reason. They wouldn't have an antagonist spouting random meaningless gibberish during the trilogy's climax.

343 basically call of dutyfied Halo. Made it so the zoomers would enjoy it.

Halo 3's writing had a good number of fuckups because Staten left a part of the way through. Johnson dying was entirely Marty's idea.

Attached: .jpg (1199x776, 98.36K)

The story seems like a masterpiece when compared to 5's.

this is probably the best answer

If Heroic is the way Halo is meant to be played, why are Bungie playing Halo games on Normal, I mean Heroic is the way Halo is meant to be played, this came from their mouth?

timestamp?

I suppose so, the only thing I remember about it is the level where you were riding on the huge crawling vehicle like in Halo 3 multiplayer and how much fighting the robot guys sucked.

Right after the cutscenes more specifically after the bomb cutscene where the Earth level begins.

My god, I forgot how fugly those cutscenes were.

"People" find this thing attractive?

whose responsible for the line "squad leaders are requesting a rally point, where should they go?"..."to war."

Better than Blur's shit.

Yes.

Halo 3 = Halo CE > Halo 2 > Halo 4 > Halo Reach

343 literally expected casuals to read 6 books before playing halo 4

>Prometheans are anti-fun to fight against
>343 can't design encounters for shit, all Prometheans teleport and all Covenant can jump like 3 stories upward and 100 ft away
>ammo capacity for all guns reduced to jack shit, constantly forced to scavenge weapons
>Promethean guns you will be forced to use all feel and perform like shit
>garbage art style
>retarded story

Funny thing is, you actually don't even need to read those stupid books.

Yes, but it's no surprise since it was following up a trilogy of bad games. It's always a hoot seeing xbox kiddies claim Halo was good before Bungie got the boot.

No, only bungiefags will say otherwise, the story is extremely well written unlike on 5.

You don't need, but 343i lore changed a lot of things that you will not understand if you fully understood that forerunners were humans.

Frankie confirmed that Halo: The Reclaimer Saga's backstory are those books

>Greg Bear: Cryptum, the first Halo novel, and so anyone who’s a Halo fan is going to enjoy the collaboration between the people in [Microsoft’s] 343 [division]—Frank O’Connor and Kevin Grace—and myself and my son Eric who consulted on this, in addition to a lot of other key people, artists and creators at 343 to help construct the origin stories, not just of the forerunners but—as it turns out—human beings as well.

>Frankie: I was always doing little tiny incremental things with development throughout, but where I really started working on things going directly into the game was Halo 3, when I worked with (engineer) Damian Isla on the terminals that explained the deeper lore. So I was doing more and more story as we got towards the end of it, and as we started Reach, I got the chance to actually write the script.

>Frankie: Most of the books for the last two years have dealt with building backstory for Halo 4, rather than fixing canonical errors or mismatches. We've bought ourselves a little bit of latitude with the terminals in previous Halo games. We knew that the fiction was going to evolve when we were writing the terminals for Halo 3.

>“Every novel that you’ve read in the last couple of years, every comic book, the Terminals in Halo Anniversary […] everything is feeding directly into the story for the next Halo trilogy.” [Frank O’Connor, Halo Fest 2011 – Halo 4 Panel (2:50)]

>Frank O'Connor or Frankie, is literally a member of Resetera and regularly posts tons of self-hating anti-white garbage. Frankie also confirms he wrote most of the story and script for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach

>Frankie also confirms he wrote most of the story and script for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach
I don't fucking believe that lie. So Joe Staten was nothing compared to him. Fuck Frankie the janitor.

Bungie made Foerunners and humans different species with Halo 3's IRIS.

Attached: .jpg (4741x2000, 565.43K)

I don't believe he wrote the majority of Halo 3's story, but Joseph Staten did leave for a long period during its development.

Attached: .png (2719x1839, 1.69M)

yeah, sure 34shill.

Attached: 1583028875752.jpg (1600x900, 109.87K)

Lmao Halo 4's population died faster than For Honor's on ALL platforms combined. Within 3 months it had less than 5,000 players. The next few months had less than 500, and everybody was only playing btb. It was so pathetic and demoralizing to 343 that to this day they decided to start hiding the population in their shitty games (Halo 5 and the MCC). Even MS still refuses to list Halo 5's sales despite 343's illegal false marketing scheme trying to lure suckers to buy their shitty cod clone. Of course you could always observe how Cod5, sorry, Halo 5 isn't even on the top 25 at this particular time of the year. Failed game for failures and fake Halo fans.
Get fucked.

>Paul Russel - Not much to say that isn't known. Forerunners originally were humans, seeding their dna on earth to re-evolve, away from flood.
>Halo Archive - Thank you very much for clearing that up. Could you explain why IRIS changed that then?
>Paul Russel - Most of halo's world building was done as needed. Loosely written in the beginning and embellished or changed over time.

Yes and so was the Fall of Reach, I didn't give a shit then and I don't give a shit now, you don't need the books and never have, they only ruin the mystery, especially 343's books.

Never saw Humans as Forerunners in the first place and thought it was all related to Chief anyway so that never bothered me.

it was Frank O'Connor, Biran Jarrard, and Aaron LeMay who primarily worked on IRIS and Halo 3's Terminals.

He also wrote a short story depicting Cortana in 5 wasn’t the real one when halo 5 made no effort to show it was.

>Yes and so was the Fall of Reach

Nope. FoR was a companion piece for the game

Halo 4 was envisioned with the Forerunner Saga in mind.

>B-b-b-but my games and books are different
WRONG
Bungie only disliked material that WASN'T made by them. Here's an interview of the person who wrote 80% of CE's Dialogue. He was hated strongly by members from Bungie because he came up with ideas that weren't theirs. At 13:00, he talks about how they shut down the ODST concepts, but later used it. The same went for The Fall of Reach, which this individual edited.

Holy cringe
That's why CE and H2 have much better story than baby 3

Who are the best Halo books writers?

the only time this irredeemable faggot was based

>b-b-b-but who the fuck is saying that
GAMES CANON FIRST
BOOKS COMES SECOND
TWITTER THRASH IS NOT CANON!

Staten before anyone else
Nylund / Denning for military stuff
The person who wrote broken Circle
Tobias Buckell because he defied Bungie's interpretation of elites and made them canonically non weebs back in 07.
I guess you didn't read the Halo 3 terminals. :^)

Attached: .jpg (3557x2000, 591.41K)

Would you an Elite?

>Halo 4 was envisioned with the Forerunner Saga in mind.
You find out about the Prometheans, Didact, and Composer all in the game, you really don't need the books, Librarian even explains to you why Didact was imprisoned on Requiem. You literally never needed the books for this series, ever.

>Bungie canon

Tier 1

Games
Contact Harvest

Tier 2

Everything else

>343

Everything is canon lmao

The final boss is a QTE. Yes it is that bad.

Is this how 343 fans cope? Lmao

>frankie's trash terminals.
neck yourself

>Bungie canon
Games and devs > everything

>343 canon
"Supposedly" everything is canon but it's really,
Games and devs > everything

Keep the goalposts on field.

Attached: .png (1280x720, 759.93K)

Why does 343 at the success of the older Halo games? It makes me wonder if they purposely ruined the MCC to brainwash the zoomers into thinking they were bad games. I wouldn't put such a cowardly tactic past this gay ass developer.

Joe Staten was the leader writer, so Contact Harvest is prime canon

Cope, I think, you're doing that, the only reason and I mean THE ONLY REASON, you would be dumb enough to read those 4 shitty books 343 released before Halo 4 is if you're a book nerd.

no but it was the beginning of the end.

Attached: 1584344608477.jpg (501x747, 92.31K)

The MCC was 343 testing how much they could get away with

yes

>imagine sucking frank o'connors cock this much
343i retards are desperate

It's not, Bungie had multiple writers, you're putting a studio against one guy and the studio always wins, this is why the Forerunner building designs changed in Halo CE-3. Bungie stopped listening to certain people.

"people" are still gay?

>save up heavy weapon ammo in the last cannon fodder swarm stage
>final boss is just a QTE

>Joe Staten/Original lore (CE, H2, H3, ODST, Contact Harvest, Wars)
Humans are Forerunner. The game came before the story, so they just needed a reason why only humans can activate Halo and why the Covenant wants to kill them. They are Reclaimers because they are reclaiming their old shit. Staten's writing, especially for characters like 343 Guilty Spark and Gravemind, showcase his narrative pretty strongly, as well as Contact Harvest where Mendicant Bias blares it at the Prophets, triggering the war.

>Frank O'Connor/343i Lore (H4 and up)

So now 343i wants to make their own trilogy, the Reclaimer Saga, with a cohesive lore backing it. Frank and Kevin Grace hand the reigns to author Greg Bear, who writes the Forerunner Saga. Humans are 100% definitely not Forerunners. Of course, this now contradicts a lot of stuff in the H3 Terminals, so we're back to "these characters are insane/unreliable".

>the Ur-Didact performs a brevet mutation on Bornstellar essentially making him a copy of himself. This mutation gave Bornstellar all of the Didact’s thoughts and memories. Bornstellar is now known as the Iso-Didact
>Bornstellar rebirths a proto human as 343 Guilty Spark. We also find out that the Librarian has been busy placing imprints(gei) in many people
>Bornstellar tells of another geas that he suspects the Librarian imprinted somewhere on the Human race.
>Reclaimer, when I indexed mankind for repopulation, I hid seeds from the Didact. Seeds which would lead to an eventuality. Your physical evolution. Your combat skin. Even your ancilla, Cortana. You are the culmination of a thousand lifetimes of planning.
>Master Chief is the one that the Librarian placed this imprint on.
>Iso-Didact is the one who takes his place and ends up firing the Halo array to wipe out the Flood
