This is where I download literally every AAA game, for the last 3 years. All clean so far.

PTDE is significantly better if all you care about is singleplayer. You need a mod to make the multiplayer work well and even then the game is dead. Remastered actually has live multiplayer but looks worse and has some minor gameplay changes that make no sense, also the multiplayer is dying on the remaster as well.

Remaster fixes most of the problems of the original while barely introducing anything bad. Snowflakes crying videos doesn't change that.

Really depends on the game and the demand, I also bought Prey like a year back for something like under 5€ iirc, seems like there's a ton of keys for it and nobody particularly cares about it so the sellers are probably just looking to get at least something out of em

Remaster is objectively better on a technical level and has a couple QoL changes. That said, it makes some bad decisions like covenants, group invasions and a lot of visuals just look worse. The Elite Knight set is just ugly in the Remaster.

PTDE looks alot better, especially with texture mods.

Honestly ingame it doesn't change much. I played Remastered on Switch and OG on PC and Remastered is just identical but less blurred. I like it better because you can hold the dpad to quickly get back to your estus, which makes using items in general a lot more confortable.
Also it doesn't auto-map new items to equipment which fucking sucked from the original.

I find it weird when remastered games have 80% of their assets better and then use worse effects. In OP's image the armor is clearly more crisp and higher quality in the remaster but the flame is less in quality and soul.

it's because low resolution often hid pretty well the ugliness of these games, that's why higher resolution in half assed "remasters" like this one ends up de-souling the game hard by revealing all those polygons, the low res textures, and how ugly the game is in general. To make it look legitimately better you have to full-on remake it. Like with SOTC or Medievil.

That pic is probably a console comparison. Unmodded PC looks really good and in most areas the lighting is better too. Compared elite knight sets from both versions.

It's a bad PC port because they did nothing except make it run on the platform. All of the button prompts are still xbox buttons no matter what, and there is no way to make keyboard controls acceptable. Game is still locked to 30fps, etc etc.

Thats because its comparing 720p with Native.
They also made some very questionable decisions to migrate everything over to a PBR render, to migrate over the DS3 particle system to DS1.

Remaster simply looks worse. Thats how it is.
And DS1 might had the strongest art style for its console gen, which it benefits massivly from when leaving 720p behind.

It is a bad port. DSFix makes it solid though, and it's by far the best way to experience the game
