$10, frequently goes on sale

>$10, frequently goes on sale
>literally thousands of hours worth of content
>extremely replayable
>even if youve done everything in the game, which takes a shit load of time, theres still mods and shit
>devs still care about game and still update it
>no DLC
>community isnt ass
>still one of the top games on steam
why cant more games be like terraria?

>thousands

Getting to Moon Lord only takes like 80 hours at best.

most indie devs are braindead, AAA devs are corporate whores and AA gaming is mostly bought out by AAA or pushed out of the industry by not being able to turn a profit due to lack of ability to advertise
making a genuinely good game as a passion is a thing of the past, now its other wringing money out of consumers or pushing some retarded agenda with walking simulators

>you have to rush the entire playthrough and stop playing the game once you beat moon lord

>80 hours at best
It can take much longer for people playing with friends, or just not using the wiki. Most people play through the game multiple times too.

Post body

Thousand? Lmao you get to moon lord and the game's over since the retard devs didn't think about a postgame
Multiplayer sucks ass and the community is full of retarded kids

Boring shit fest where updates made it worse? That's every game now

>Lmao you get to moon lord and the game's over since the retard devs didn't think about a postgame
the postgame is where the sandbox really begins you brainlet

>rushing
I mean is fine if it is a replay but for a new player getting to ML will take longer.

multiplayer is great even with complete randos from Yas Forums
don't know which 'community' you're interacting with but if its discord you're doing it wrong

Have they released the update yet?

>2423 hours
>87/88 achievements

Attached: 7ClYycf.jpg (960x695, 65.33K)

>terraria is shit because it takes 80 hours to beat the game if you rush and use a guide and then there's nothing left to do

I can't believe Yas Forums finally hit a point where it hates terraria

the 200 angler quests achievement is a pain in the fucking ass

wide as ocean, deep as puddle

no, i think they said they wanted to release it in summer but no date yet

>want to get back into terraria
>remember how shit the early game is every time
>play for like 60 minutes and give up

Last time I played the 'final boss' was robo-skeleton, how much has been added since then?

Nothing changes post Moonlord, except you can make new weapons and armor.

doesn't terraria have some autistic "do pointless shit 8000 times for no reason" achievements that no one except achievement tards would bother with?

Also I already passed 1000 hours before they even added achievements. I only have like 20 lol.

how low is your attention span that you cant even get past early game, also a shit ton has been added

Nope, there is a way to abuse it. I remember the method involves a stacked chest on top of his spawn and creating a multiple characters. Whole thing took me less than an hour.

terraria is just poorfag's minecraft

literally for autistic 8 year olds

I literally did not see a single new thing in the hour or so I played, just the normal build base, get the guide in, start digging out to find copper

>Nothing changes post Moonlord
because moon lord is the final boss you dumb nigger

They're both awful now so who cares

>still enjoys 2d platformers
>doesn't realize it's actually 1.5d because gravity forces a specific orientation and level design

I mean you can go on a server that has every single quest fish then complete the quests too, but wheres the fun in that?

>wide as ocean, deep as puddle
What does this even mean in the context of something that isn't even competitive? What is there in a sandbox RPG that can be "deep"? Terraria is more akin to 2 oceans; pre-hardmode and post-hardmode.

Read the person I quoted, then go sit in the corner with your dunce cap.

terraria.gamepedia.com/Desktop_Version_history
quite a bit, sounds like the last time you played was 1.1
lots of new jungle content, a new evil biome, snow biome, the moon events, fishing in its entirety, lots of underground expansion, the underground desert, new wiring shit

autistic minecraft kids became autistic adults who still play minecraft and they fucking copulate.

What the fuck does depth have to do with competition you absolute mongoloid

just the fishing achievements, everything else is a one time thing iirc

I got bored of side scrollers back in 1999

It'll release in 2021

>Cataclysm is pure autism that makes pre-Moon Lord easy
>Already did 5 playthroughs of Thorium

Attached: 1579461032234.jpg (570x539, 47.29K)

>Cataclysm
I meant Calamity. It's still autism though

im 20 hours in and i am still on the basic ores of this game, why does this game feel like I will have to rely on the wiki to actually progress?

i'm still mad that i can't run this game because of windows 10

>comparing different genres
and who is autistic here? la mulana/metroidvania bait would've been much better

>80 hours
10 hours top.
>get a bomb
>spawn the demolitionist
>evade your way through the crimson
>break a heart
>wait for a meteorite
>bomb the meteorite
>full meteorite set and space gun
>kill WoF
>kill a hallowed mimic
>get daedalus stormbow
>kill mechanical bosses and make megashark and hallowed armor
>kill plantera, golem and the cultist
>make vortex beater, solar flare armor and stardust dragon
>kill ML

You can progress if you go in random directions and talk to the guide. Progress is a lot smoother with the wiki, but it's entirely doable without it.

Pro-tip: go to the corruption/crimson, use bombs to blast through the ebon/crimstone, and use a hammer on the floating orbs. You'll get powerful items that help you progress faster.

What?

>if you speedrun the game you can complete it fast
wowwwwwwww

now that is something very good to know, ill try that now, thanks.

"Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" is usually something people on Yas Forums say to shit on fighting games with shallow mechanics, which makes for less engaging, and ultimately less skillful competitive play. I'm asking what the person even means by using the term in regards to a single-player/co-op game like Terraria, where, like most RPGs, "depth" of mechanics isn't even a focus.

He's criticizing the content with a platitude but not giving any reason, detail, or explanation. It's anti-conversation.

Plus all the mods. Like, more than enough at this point to add thousands of more items, hundreds of enemies, and more.
Calamity just can't take proper shape cause the mod author keeps spazing out on when someone manages to beat one of his precious babby bosses in under 10 minutes without taking damage, so he fucks the balance.

Probably because this is an incredibly long game if you're just playing on your own exploring and looking for shit to do rather than just looking up exactly what you need to be doing at any given time.

Terraria had hundreds or even thousands of hours worth of content for those who have been playing through its many updates. I've started new games probably a dozen times because each patch was basically an expansion pack. A player starting now would get a great experience but not anywhere near 1000+ hours unless they become autistically devoted to the game with mods and repeated playthroughs.

I'd recommend the wiki if you're truly stuck and the guide isn't helping. For general tips I'd say try digging deeper, and explore different surface biomes and their accompanying caves.

thanks, ill probably use the wiki if i am absolutely stuck, i just feel lost right now.

I wish it wasn't so ugly, hopefully the second one has better visual design if it ever comes out

Generally, you always want to be looking for the next boss to fight to progress the story. Bosses will start spawning themselves if you take too long to reach them. The Eye of Cthulhu will start spawning randomly once you hit 200 health.

Also, just use the Guide's crafting feature to see everything you can make with a material. It's super helpful for giving you something to work towards.

that reminds me, has red said anything at all about terraria 2 except "its comin guyz"
terraria otherworld was supposed to come out as a spinoff but was cancelled after being delayed 40 times

>Terraria
>Ugly

Give me Terraria and Factorio and ill be able to play them forever

You'd think, but I got bored of singleplayer Terraria after like 2000 hours

windows 10 did something and you somehow can't run the .exe of the game, meaning that you can't play unless you fix it

Unironically one of the best, comfiest games ever made.

What a fucking ripoff

>why cant more games be like terraria
because then Yas Forums would be nothing but threads for "NEXT UPDATE WHEN"
also
WHEN THE FUCK IS JOURNEY'S END UPDATE

thanks for the tips user, i know a lot more than before now.

this, games are really neat when they can be both really comfy and intense
