EARN IT Act

Have you guys heard of this? Congress has been trying to pass a bill that weakens encryption and holds websites liable for user-generated content.

Encryption is already a meme because you can just attack either end of 'end-to-end' encryption.
Don't think Intel ME was the only hardware level backdoor that the NSA has.

Well, I guess that's something I can take solice in. What about website liability though?

Website liability is an obvious push to remove wrongthink.
> Don't you let them discuss that goy. Or you'll be personally responsible for the 6 billion.

>holds websites liable for user-generated content.
If they do that there will be no websites with user generated content

I guess they are just following what the EU did with Article 13.
They know that shit is much harder if there is public pushback so they are trying to rush it through now while everyone is distracted and can't gather for protesting.

Not just content, but also chat conversations and forum threads on them. All this is going to do is impede online discussions from taking place due to fears of being sued.

>/leftypol/ will support this bill simply because it says fuck you to anyone wealthier than them

I wish parents would check what their kids are doing online. We wouldn't be in these situations if parents would stop letting the internet babysit their kids.

Parents work 40 hours a week slaving away and are tired when they get home. There's no time to constantly police your kids. Don't like it? Force employers to drop the work week to 30hrs a week

>have kids
>don't want to take care of them
Hmmmmmmm

Can't handle it? Don't have kids then

gas the jews

Maybe the problem is trying to balance work life and family life. How do you afford the cost of living for your family while also raising your kids properly?

It's about more control over the net and nothing else.

Enjoy your plunging Japan-tier birthrates

Looking at the orwellian shithole governments turned the internet into in the past 20 years, (in 2000 it would be almost unthinkable to be arrested for online "hate speech" or a joke no reasonable person would consider a threat) I only see 2 possibilities for the future:

>a method of anonymity so strong it makes pre-exploits TOR look like grandma posting her social security number on facebook becomes mainstream
>the internet of every western country becomes like China's

There will be no middle ground.

>Force employers to drop the work week to 30hrs a week
All that does is make people take second jobs, and they're going to be worse off from keeping up with both of them.

>what is homeostasis
pick up a book for once, mudperson

Nothing will ever be fixed because it's trivial for your evil overseers to redirect your ire towards your (admittedly deserving) fucktarded neighbors
The problem is that you all really are inferior, that's why they're the ruling class and you are not

Pretend I'm lazy and stupid, because I am. Does this bill have the potential to kill or seriously hurt VPNs?

Anything about "protecting the children" is a smokescreen for passing more and more legislation that tramples anything that stands in the way of monetizing and walling off the entire internet. It's all about continuing to bend over for corporations to blast freedom in the ass.

just lowering the working hours won’t do it, you’d have to restricted the whole economy that a single earn household is viable again. There’s a reason why billionaires and millionaires don't give their children phones or tablets before they hit puberty, that shit rots your brain worse than alcohol or hard drugs

What a devious tool the internet has become. It's every government's surveillance wet dream now.

what?

any encryption would have to have a back door

Governments don’t even care that much as long as you don’t do anything illegal. The worst thing is that big companies that made mad bank from stealing and selling people’s data increase their stranglehold on the internet and try to kill any opposition

this is what you get for being american

now fuck off back to polnigger

Lack of parental overlook doesn't mean the govt. should intrude in the space of responsible people.

>republican introduced
So, it's based?

>worse than alcohol or hard drugs
I hate this meme. Alcohol IS a hard drug, it's one of the worst drugs across all categories. If I had to pick heroin or alcohol I would pick heroin.

The big issue people take with the bill is that it's so vague. If police were doing an investigation and felt that going through a person's chat/IPN/VPN/browser history was necessary, they would contact the company with that information to let them through, lest they be obstructing justice.

How about we make working wage actually decent so that wives can do their actual roles and fuck off back to home to take care of the kids?

>all this government ass fucking just to sell us shit like chocolate
What a world we live in.

What about phone companies being liable for what's said through their phone lines?

Alcohol might more damaging per capita because it effects more people overall but heroine is more dangerous since you are more likely to get addicted to heroine from one needle than you get addicted to alcohol from one alcoholic beverage

Don’t forget the option for feds to put child porn on the pcs of journalists, politicians or entrepreneurs so they stop going against “the will of the people”

I suspect this means they'd be legally obligated to log all activity if they don't do that already?

Heroin is more dangerous because it is illegal. In states with legal heroin access such as Switzerland the damaging effects of heroin are drastically reduced and are less severe than effects of alcohol even after accounting in smaller user base. Addiction itself is not a problem, you can use heroin and be productive with a job for 20 years if it's medical-grade, again this is not even debatable because it's been done for decades now. Drugs are not illegal because they are dangerous, they are dangerous because they are illegal.

The US also had legal heroin clinics before the war on drugs and they were successful. Canada is now restarting the program and prescribing heroin to severe addicts. Nixon administration with the help of John Ehrlichman had done so much evil, and Ehrlichman admitted to them propagating lies just to target the people protesting against the Vietnam War.

It's not directly stated, but if they "feel" it's necessary to, then yeah they would.

Fucking Democrats

VPN's would become pointless. They wouldn't be allowed to hide you.

It pisses me off, too. A lot of this facial recognition and learning A.I. crap wouldn't be here if it weren't for the need to make the most money off of ads.

You've a long list of red pills to swallow to figure out why not.

Women in the workforce was a mistake

Look up the Sentinel and Orchid projects if you don't know about them

>Don't think Intel ME was the only hardware level backdoor that the NSA has.
Yeah, but only the NSA has access to it, the FBI doesn't get those tools.
I don't think they should.

retard

Kill yourself you dumb racist

How about we kill you and the rest of the basement dwellers who take advantage of their mother’s kindness to whine about women online?

Not surprising in the slightest. Epic hates user-generated content and wants a death grip on how things are enjoyed. Plus, their main rival got big by encouraging user-generated content. Two birds with one stone.

omega cringe picture. the real answer is because companies are profit driven and will do everything in their power to save costs.

Kill yourself, kike.
Very insightful of you, if only there were more GENIUSES like you, retard.

I wasn't aware that Lindsay Graham had switched sides.

Then turn off the internet when you leave for work, dipshit.

why cant these comments even pretend to come from sane people?

If it exist, any hacker savvy enough can get in. All this law is going to do is make things easier for criminals.

It's a matter of implementation. You can make the software in a way it's not possible to tell anything meaningful.

he was an insufferable shitcunt back then and still is now. In any case you and I know enough which party is in control of congress yeah?

Nothing I can really do about it since I'm not american
I hope you lads are ok though.

>I am wrong but I am still right

Don't worry, we can't do anything either

It's gonna pass because burgers are afraid of the coronavirus and are too busy panic buying toilet paper.

Of course I am right. The fuckin democrats are in charge.

They're not though

do you know what it means to sponsor a bill?
