Are they going to treat it as a normal Final Fantasy title where you start as a level 1 nobody and end up as a level 99 demigod hitting for 9999 by the end of it? or are they going to keep the progression the same as in the original where you barely learn any new spells before leaving Midgar? and if you do end up as the demigod as per usual, how are they then going to handle "part 2" of the remake? are you going to start that game as level 1 as well?
The more i think about them turning the tutorial area into a full fledged game the less sense it makes. Why turn an 8 hour midgar into an 80 hour experience when they could have remade the entire game and made that an 80 hour experience instead? we want to play final fantasy 7. not whatever shit year 2020 squareenix decided to pad the other 72 hours with.
its like they backed themselves into a corner with no positive outcome no matter what choices they make.
>are you going to start that game as level 1 as well?
You ain't no fully-fledged pilot.
Julian Nelson
>Why turn an 8 hour midgar into an 80 hour experience I was under the impression this would be a very short game.
William Thompson
>Why turn an 8 hour midgar into an 80 hour experience when they could have remade the entire game and made that an 80 hour experience instead Because then you have a mediocre looking game with meme graphics like atelier ryza, trails of mana and trails in cold steel
Adrian Miller
I imagine it'll be something like the way Trails games do it, where they have a level range that you can start at in the sequel. No idea how they'll handle gil, material, limit breaks, and such though. Knowing SE, they didn't even fully plan it out before they decided on it.
They've said it's normal FF length and a screenshot released yesterday had the timer at nearly 40 hours.
Kevin Phillips
source for screenshot? I didn't see that one I think?
Jason Thomas
>no sephiroth >no gold saucer >no cid space ship >no vampire meme >no funny cat robot thing >no cloud wheelchair >no giant impaled snake >no nothing imagine if they decided to remake terminator 2 and the movie ended right after arnold got the clothes, boots, and motorcycle.
imagine thinking you are telling a story with terminator getting the clothes boots and motorcycle
Angel Ortiz
>no sephiroth
Why did you have to start with something obviously false? Also, there's an arena in Wall Market now if that means anything to you.
Thomas Foster
but they're adding new scenes. we really get to know the bikers inside the bar in this remake. i swear its a good idea to make the entire remake the opening of the movie.
Nolan Morris
terminator 2 doesnt have 3 story arcs
Alexander Jenkins
Level 28 and 39 hours jesus, so is 30 gonna be the max level in this one? No way its 99 right?
Isaiah White
How long between installments?
I can't imagine grinding a character to 30-40 and then waiting a year and a half to pick it back up.
So then people grind to 99, then you wait a year and a half and the next part comes out and you just walk through it?
Blake Richardson
are you even going to get red xiii as a party member in this game? didnt he join like 30 minutes before you left midgar?
Hunter Martinez
Lets be honest, they're not going to finish this, and even if they do, it will be another kingdom hearts, aka, a convoluted mess spread out across multiple games.
Not to mention the change in graphics, since this saga will likely span the PS4, 5 and onward.
Isaiah Peterson
99 might be possible like in the OG where you always end in the 40-50 range and you gotta grind hard to hit it
I doubt you'll be able to hit 99 in the first part.
As mentioned earlier, it'll probably be like Trails. If you've never played them, the following games always have a level range you can start out. So like if you play Trails in the Sky, when you import your save to Trails in the Sky: SC, the level range to start at will be between 35 and 40. If your level is between those numbers, that's what you'll start out. If you ended TiTS at level 30, then you'll get bumped up to 35. If you exceeded level 40, then you're reduced to level 40.
They said he's not going to be a party member in this game.
Nathan Campbell
He is only a ai controlled, guest party member
John Hernandez
>Lets be honest, they're not going to finish this
If you get enough people to believe, it might come true.
>Lets be honest, they're not going to finish this yeah you're right. there's no way they could do the entire game like this that would make sense. and if they tried it would start flopping somewhere midway through and abandoned.
Caleb Sanders
I didn't like it on .Hack either. Even MMOs don't timegate you like that.
And Red XIII isn't in the game? Dead in the water.
Jacob Hughes
>And Red XIII isn't in the game? he has to be, you meet him in midgar
Jacob Davis
Maybe it let's hit you level 99 in part 1 and when part 2 comes around it will be converted to something like level 30-40 or a new save starting at 25 or so.
Jaxon Clark
Red's in the game, he's just not playable. I think he's just a guest party member.
Hudson Baker
well arent you a positive person
Tyler Price
>reminder that in the original Sephiroth actually gets stronger if you bother to level to 99.
Brandon Edwards
It's not about being positive, it's about looking at a product and deciding if I want to buy it.
Do I want to spend 120 dollars waiting for six years for Squeenix to crap out an ARPG that bastardizes the source material?
ignore grinding after the main story. are they atleast going to continue your character in the state it was when you finished the story. or are you going to be able to learn end game materia like knights of the round or hell just even thundaga (or whatever was the last rank) during the main story only for them to remove it when part 2 comes out? it would make sense for them to make your character scale like it always does in ff titles. start weak, end strong with a shit ton of spells and skills and gear. but then it wouldnt make sense for them to give you all that straight away in terms of the whole picture, because then it would deflate literally anything they could do for the other parts. unless they want to inflate numbers to billions of damage for the last game in the series with spells like 'thundagarargagararga 3000X'.
Lincoln Martinez
Yes, an ARPG that bastardizes the source material.
For spells and stuff, I imagine that they won't allow anything that they don't want to to start out with in the next game. So like, if you get Thundaga in part 1, great, enjoy it from the start of part 2. Otherwise, you'll start with Thundara.
Brandon Kelly
He's cut content
Brayden Hughes
like all of that video takes place outside of midgar though
Dominic Smith
sorry, "reimagined content".
Mason Garcia
You clearly dont like the remake because every fact you get you turn it into shit in your own very cynical world. Theres literally no point in trying to convince you, you are not even listening shit. Just go and mod the original, surely you'll like it more since you clearly just played once in your life and recently. Have fun.
Joshua King
remember this iconic final boss of midgar? cant wait for the epic conclusion where you finally get to kill this thing after 150 hours of gameplay.
Are you the guy in the last few threads that's gotten this noticeably upset when I criticize the game? What exactly are you "convincing" anyone of with this image? You need to take your medicine, bro.
Nathan Bell
I think the new final boss of Midgar is Jenova. Or maybe she's the penultimate.
Christopher Foster
>Are you the guy in the last few threads that's gotten this noticeably upset when I criticize the game No idea who the fuck is that but apparently you have been making this threads quite constantly to stir shit up since everytime someone says something to look forward to you transform it into shit and act cynical as fuck. Just dont play it and dont buy it. End of the discussion
Christopher Phillips
>you have been making this threads
I'm OP now?
Is this a language barrier thing, I'm fairly certain you're South American or Hindi.
Jonathan Wilson
>muh esl Yeah i wss right Just mod the og bro, new threat is a pretty good mod for those that have played the og more than one time
Chase Thomas
I'm almost done playing the OG, on original hardware. Cloud's in a wheelchair as we speak.
>just mod it Casual.
Isaiah Robinson
>Cloud's in a wheelchair as we speak. i hope i live long enough to see that part remade for the playstation 3000
Isaac King
by then you'll be in full immersive VR so YOU'LL be the one in the wheelchair
Mason Johnson
You are extremely stupid and clueless about game development, that is why it doesn't make sense to you.
Every time someone asks "but why didn't they just remake the whole game", all intelligent people groan collectively.
Leo Long
Could you explain it in a way that makes sense?
Hudson Davis
Are physical copies going to be delayed due to coronavirus?
pls respond
Joshua Kelly
Other games do import your levels like the .hack games. If FFVIIR wasn't stupid or something, they'd cap your level at 20.
Parker Parker
Probably, i guess depends on how your store manages that
Owen Ward
Yeah, I'm a little concerned about that too since I live in a small town. I guess it's a good time to be a digital fag.
Bentley Clark
I went through Midgar on PS1 in about 3 to 4 hours. Where does the remake end?
End of disc 1 or Cloud being a cripple? Please don't say it's just Midgar... I want to see sonmany things like Barret and Dyne and Cosmo Canyon and see what Bugenhagen actually is supposed to even be.
Luis Wilson
On the highway after the bike segment where Cloud says that he's going after Sephiroth.
Kayden Rivera
>see what Bugenhagen actually is supposed to even be.
An old man on a floating green ball.
Daniel Garcia
The cost of developing assets with modern graphics is exponentially higher than it was in 1997. FF7 is a very dense game that contains an extreme amount of unique assets that have to be remade. The budget of remaking the whole game would be so large that it wouldn't make back the money even if it sold 20 million copies. So they would have to increase the price, and people refuse to buy games for more than $60, so that is not feasible.
It's financially impossible to remake the whole game in one go.
Lincoln Diaz
no the game will just be midgar. which is why i made this thread. i cant see how the fuck they're going to pace an entire game just in midgar, while still leaving room for the other 90% of the story without inflating everything out of proportion.
Colton Price
>see what Bugenhagen actually is supposed to even be. What?
If anything, I'm fearing that they'll downsize some areas and events just to complete the game in a reasonable time frame and number of episodes.
Jason Lee
what if they remade the game instead of making it a whole other genre. they could just redo it exactly like it was done before with 3d models over pre rendered 2d backgrounds. we havent seen a game done like this since what, the re1 remake for the gamecube? im sure with todays technology the game would look fucking amazing and they would be able to just copy every location.
Mason Carter
I assume there is a level cap in each part and its gonna have cross saves to bring over your previous saves starting at part 2 without a save will probably have a selection default levels/materia/equipment
William Stewart
30 hour story. 60 hour side-content. Standard modern FF. Story pacing? Fuck knows. Have they ever been good at that?
>Lets be honest, they're not going to finish this >forgetting the FFXIII trilogy >forgetting original FFXIV >forgetting FFXIII versus >even forgetting KH3
Oh they'll finish it. We might just all be dead or simply not care by the time they do.
Evan Wood
No, that would be just like a remaster. I've always wanted this to be full 3D, go be a 2D prerrendered nostalgiafag away from me.
Dominic Sullivan
They canceled FF XV DLC, which for some reason has a lot of people saying that SE cancels everything.
Bentley Williams
I'm more curious on how they're going to handle the overworld after making an entire game in one city.
Gavin Foster
Alright, so if it's economically unfeasible to deliver the product I want then I simply won't pay 120 dollars for something I don't.
I'm partial to the old game, blow me.
Brody Fisher
Yes, user the first episode is just the bombing mission, 1 hour long Next episode, in 5 years to be precise, will only cover clod encounter with aeris each will cost 60 dollars
Nathaniel Long
This is the biggest obstacle and why we are only getting Midgar.
Jace Lewis
Reminder float exists in every final fantasy but not in ff7
Reminder buhengahen is on the only float materia in the world
