There's nothing wrong with a proprietary external NVME solution. I hope PS5 has one also.

>nothing wrong with a proprietary
idiot

Nice. I hope you like paying a 40-60% markup

>Memory cards
I don't see anything wrong with this. People use sd cards and other external storage all the time. Saving to an internal hard drive is just more convinient.

didn't they already say it wasn't proprietary and anyone can make one

So if these nvme drives only transfer 2.4GB/s then xbox is probably not using pcie 4 right

GIVE ME THE FUKKEN XBOX

thank fuck all these new consoles will be infected with coronavirus

kys cuck shill

there really isnt, im going to play Halo,Destiny, and Cyberpunk on this thing just fine. the memory card thing is pretty fucking great honestly.

>nothing wrong with a proprietary
imagine being against freedom THIS much

this, it means consistent performance which developers can target for

external hdds aren't, but it seems like the internal ones are.

>nothing wrong

>proprietary
do people forget why the Vita failed? Buy our 32gb memory card for $100 USD goy.

literally nothing wrong with a plastic case for a gen 4 nvme ssd, under age faggot.

>nothing

People getting mad at this seem to think it's the same as a HDD or a SD card.
Really not comparable to the PSP/Vita dumb shit, devs want similar performances across the board here, it's not just storage.

I'd take a proprietary storage solution that guarantees all my games will perform as the developer intended.

Some articles say that external hdds are for backup and older games only but I can't see why most (indies/2d) games couldn't be played directly on hdd.

Don't bother, Yas Forums is a hive of wojakian rage.
It hates all things and can not be reasoned with unless it is about non-furry porn.

Well why would you want to upgrade the interior one when you can just get an exterior one

Hell the interior one's probably soldered to the mobo

>Really not comparable to the PSP/Vita dumb shit

Attached: 1 int.png (496x497, 445K)

Someone should meme these as official xbox juul pods

>Xbox resurrects only to commit suicide before next-gen starts AGAIN
I swear they're doing this bullshit on purpose.

yeah Xbox 360 didn't sell proprietary hard drives that were more space for an insane markup. xD

very nice

interior one uses PCI-e lanes, in short it's fast as fuck. Exterior one uses USB, if it's USB3 it's about as fast as sata but if you want to let's say install movies onto your SSD, internal will do it faster.

Now read the full sentence
it's the same for the PS5 though.

HDDs are basically for backups and to transfer on the NVME when you want to play it yeah.
You need the NVME if you want the performance required.

>PS5 does the same thing
>snoyfags ITT: . . .

People need to understand that companies do this for reasons purely besides scalping customers. External storage like this needs two things.

>Reliability
>High read/write speeds to reduce load times

Normies can't be trusted to buy existing methods like this without settling for the bargain bin cheap options. Look at the SD card market, people always crying about how their garbage Chink cards became corrupt within a week and are fucking with the functionality of the device it's plugged into. This is why proprietary options are developed, to limit what's available and assure some level of quality control.

As a console playerI have no idea what any of this means. I imagine a lot of people think the same thing.

where did I defend the 360's storage solution exactly? Same category as the PSP/Vita memory card fiasco

You just know Sony is waiting for this moment and will announce something the opposite like they did last generation

>There's nothing wrong with a proprietary solution

Attached: 1351120898273.jpg (651x358, 71.69K)

It really isn't, the Vita had zero internal storage, you were obligated to buy those propietary memory sticks, the Xbox has internal storage which you can couple with any external device to manage it, you are in no way forced to buy the propietary internal SSDs.

>seagate

THIS KIND OF DANCE CAN NEVER LAAAASTTT

Attached: 1563920919434.jpg (746x541, 44.78K)

Vita didn't even come with any built in storage
You HAD to buy a mem card. You don't HAVE to buy an xbox mem card
>M.2 NVMe
>same as HDD or SD
Yes, yes you do only have 1 INT

I don't wanna be

You know these drives are the future right? All the regards in this thread complaining probably don't know that the Switch cartridges are faster than Blu ray disks

>Reliability
Seagate my dude?
>High speeds
Load times wont get faster, maybe 10% over SATA.

so this isn't the same? explain your logic.
Microsoft keeps putting all in on hardware power and not games. they will just lose out again. we don't need to argue user, but its just sad.

Attached: 1584431726313.gif (885x948, 751.95K)

i like you, user

Unless they're going with shitty HDD sony will be using an identical solution because according to their own engineer mark cerny the PS5 SSD is faster than anything on PC so it will have to be proprietary storage if it is to match the internal SSD. If it isn't Sony fucked up hard.

If you don't want a fast storage in this format just plug in your usb drive via hdmi and fuck off

Attached: 360.gif (300x200, 33.86K)

THREE STEPS WASTED
FOUR CAST ASIDE

>seagate bad

Attached: soy785.png (753x960, 28.9K)

While a modular drive/sled would be welcome, I can't never imagine being in the position where I can't easily upgrade my hardware like you can on the PS3.

Sony learned their lesson with the PSP and Vita--why does it take Microsoft so long to pick up on the cues.
>Unless they know they're catering to a brain-dead audience

Video games truly has become a luxury.

>memory cards AND internal storage

I don't see the problem here

hdd via usb of course
fuck this fever

IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKIN' THE STROKES REFERENCE?

HDs use USB and you'll only be able to play XONE/X360 games over it.
The proprietary NVMe port is not USB and can actually use full speed and be is able to run SEX games

You're not a normie. You're not a retarded nigger or child typing "cheap memory" on Google and buying the first option without checking the reviews. They just see the price of $0.99 and click purchase.

You can target your application to fit a standard without the need of proprietary ports, what the fuck are you talking about? It is the customer's responsibility to find a third party HDD/SDD that fits the specs if they wish to do so. A proprietary port is just bad practice.

SD cards aren't proprietary

Been running the same 1TB Western Digital HDD for nine years now. Cant say the same for a Seagate HDD.

Attached: 1562629215064.jpg (720x724, 28.77K)

Don't.

NO MATTER WHAT I DO YOU'RE ALWAYS MAD

Attached: 1576594297027.jpg (600x661, 114.94K)

Don't forget about USB storage

There are tons of terrible memory options out there with comically low read/write.

>Sony learned their lesson with the PSP and Vita
Did they? I would wait untill tomorrow.

HDD and SD cards put in consoles all had a pretty low speed until now.
Proprietary NVMe allows them to have the same performance for everyone, as it's here about speed, and not storage/price.

Here's your difference.

Can you read, nigga?
>SEX
It's Xbex

It's using Zen processors so it's PCI-E 4

Memory cards are SOUL, but I doubt they'll give them unique animations like PS1 and 2 did.

>/v / proprietary is bad
>also Yas Forums wow soyn is so cucked their games keep going multiplat they aren't like based tendie who hide all their first party games behind last gen shitty overpriced hardware.

>playing nu-CDPR on PC
They are a console dev now though.

Not all NVMEs are created equal, some use express lanes others don't. But all of them use SATA lanes.

and on top of that, you can still plug in any HDD you want for regular storage and even to play pre-XSX games on it.
This is just to play XSX games and will be the same on PS5.

This isn't even remotely similar to the vita. The vita was purely Sony being Jews. This has a whole completely different reasoning behind it. Both consoles will have this proprietary storage to go alongside the soldered flash SSD memory in the console.

>HDD
there's your problem
Their HDDs are crap but SSDs are fine

There's something comfy about these. Brings me back to the days of memory cards.

thats the only way it works. PC ssds a way to slow compared to next gen consoles. You can only sell them that way

You need 3 things to get PCIe4 performance
>Zen2 CPU
>X570 mobo
>PCIe4 SSD/GPU
it's not just the CPU

Shitposting aside there is no way this thing costs any less than $229 or else M$ takes a major loss. That or the console is $800
