When you disregard the multiplayer, this is by far the worst of the trilogy.
Why the fuck did they get rid of the assault rifle?

Wasn't the AR a terrible weapon in Halo:CE?
It was fine, a lot better than the SMG in Halo 2
>Why the fuck did they get rid of the assault rifle?
because they added the SMG and Battle rifle, you dimwit
One of those is a good weapon
CE assault rifle was literally just an SMG
I still find the campaign more enjoyable than 3's campaign.
By their own admission it was because they listened to /k/ tier gun autists who screeched and whined that the CE AR functioned like an SMG. So to focus more on the Rock Paper Scissors aspect of multiplayer they split the AR into two more specialized guns: the SMG/BR.
>remove one weapon
>waaah, it's the worst game ever
This is why eugenics need to come back. Autism could've been prevented for OP.
The campaign is fucking kino
youtube.com
But Halo 3 and Halo Reach arguably have the worst campaigns of the Bungie Halo games.
>Halo 5 higher than Reach
oh my...
it was a different time
Yes.
Bingo.
Halo 1's campaign is nowhere near Halo 2's what with its reusing of assets.
can we just remove 4 and 5 from these images?
*both
How is Halo 1 god tier?
90% of Halo 1 is running through corridors copy/pasted 20 times in succession in the same level.
I remember playing Halo 1 the first time, i was confused if the game is bugged or if im running in circles, because it all looked the fucking same.
>MC collection
The library is not the entire game
BXR actually drags it down. It's the best campaign in the series despite all the crunch and cut content.
Even then, The Library's problem was that it overstayed its welcome and was repetitive, not that it was confusing or hard to navigate. Unless you had brain problems.
It was the dedicated "spray and pray" weapon of CE. It was good for cleaning up with.
And neither of those weapons fulfilled the role I mentioned above as well as the AR did. Not that that's a bad thing, but I preferred the AR to both those weapons and would have preferred the pistol stay the precision weapon of choice rather than the BR.
>Halo 5
>Mid
That's how I know your taste is absolute dogshit
the entire game has levels that are copy/pasted a hundred times only to artificially prolong the game time.
the only non copy/pasted element is the first island level, everything else in the game is a pure disgrace in level design, from the human ship, the library, covenenant ship, the Halo catacombs and the library.
its a fucking disaster in level design, i have no fucking idea why Halo 1 is considered a good game in the first place.
the story is OK, so is the music, but the level design is fucking atrocious.
That whole thing is a meme chart that exists for the express purpose of putting Reach in the bottom tier.
Yes. Abysmal range, can't break shields well, no insta-kill headshot like the pistol once you do break shields. It serves almost no purpose on higher difficulties besides being a holdover until you find better stuff.
don't mind me just being the best MP fps map of all fucking time
Meant for
desu it's fantastic against parasyte flood, you can just pepper the lil' niggas with trigger discipline and keep a shotgun for the big guys
just because you recognize reused assets that doesn't mean the design itself is bad my little zoomzoom
There is a very decent variety already and there is literally nothing surprising about seeing similar looking hallways in a human ship. It's supposed to match to a degree. You go through human, covenant, and forerunner hallways, natural caves, walk through massive outdoor battle areas with vehicles. The battke areas each have different climates too.
Real impressive stuff in 2001, you ungrateful worm child.
>90% of Halo 1 is running through corridors copy/pasted 20 times in succession in the same level.
Holy hyperbole, Batman!
The level design in CE is NOT NEARLY as bad as that. I distinctly remember 2 having the same issues on certain levels, but no one ever mentions that, and I wouldn't want them to, because it's not much of an issue there either. The worst offenders in CE are Assault on the Control Room, but you can bypass some of the interiors by taking the banshee on the snow bridge, and The Library, which is fine except it could have been a floor shorter without any loss to the experience. Despite this, there's at least one new thing introduced on every single level of CE. Also, the architectural design of the Forerunners resembles Egyptian architecture, so the repetition isn't really in conflict with the game's atmosphere.
The great thing about CE is that it has the:
>most consistent story
At every step of the way the focus is on Master Chief. The story doesn't trail off into Star Wars level of grandiosity with a ton of characters and a ton of drama (some of which has little to do with the action). There are no awkward main protagonist switches and no weak characters in the cast. Everything has a place.
>most mysterious atmosphere
Because of the design of the campaign, every mystery in the Halo universe is at its peak in CE. This is not just Master Chief's or Arbiter's journey, but a personal journey for the player as well. The Egyptian-feeling architecture complements this.
>darkest atmosphere
The Covenant are more alien and the Halo ring is more desolate and you are by yourself in CE more than in any other Halo game. Overall, the tone of CE is the darkest out of all the games, which also makes the journey more personal.
CE has the best campaign.
>And neither of those weapons fulfilled the role I mentioned above as well as the AR did
What do you mean? The BR was perfect for long range and still did big damage up close. The SMG was fine by itself, but even better when dual wielding it with either another smg or a different longer ranged weapon
>Overall, the tone of CE is the darkest out of all the games, which also makes the journey more personal.
What else made CE more personal?
which cortana is best cortana and why is it CE?
Shit taste detected
i like ascension too but if you think its better than midship, lockout, or sanctuary you are a raving lunatic
Not as many new characters to worry about
>Halo 1's campaign is nowhere near Halo 2's what with its reusing of assets.
Retarded zoomer detected.
wrong
Ace argument, stud. You really convinced me.
Halo 2 actually has pacing and cool moments within its levels happening. Halo CE is literally just carried by repeating the combat over and over again. Also, the story and ost are the best in the series.
If you disregard the multiplayer, Halo isn't worth talking about at all.
Halo 2 campaign suffered from a severe disconnect between the best story elements(Arbiter's arc) and the worst missions (Nearly all of arbys missions are shit.) while chief's story ist pretty basic "Stop the bad guys" shit and has the best missions (Regret being the best Halo 2 mission).
If Arby had gotten better enemies & missions, the game would be GOAT even without MP.
Halo 5 deserves to be nowhere near mid. That's a telltale sign of poop taste, user.
you're a retard
Why were arbiter's missions bad?
So you would rather play a game that was already mind-numbingly repetitive with its constantly reused hallways that becomes even more repetitive by reusing levels half way through? Halo CE's campaign isn't awful, mind you, but it leaves a lot to be desired.
The first mission, basically just swapped Elite costumes and let you fight the same enemies as the chief. Fighting humans maybe would have been more fun. A throwback mission to reach and fighting Spartan 2s would have been better.
The first flood mission 2 is allright, nothing fancy. The boss battle is just ass. Either super easy if you get a lucky drop on the guy or just a chore. Especially on Legendary. The next 2 Flood missions with arby are the worst onse from Halo 2. Especially quarantine zone. The zone design is amazing and the elites as more competent marines just can't fix the underlying problem of most flood levels: They suck.
The final 2 arby missions range from meh to amazing with severy shitty parts inbetween. My most frustrating moment was the scarab escort on legendary. The overall ass missions for Arbiter soured my first impression of the character and I only started to really like his Arc once I looked past his really shitty missions. Halo 2 saving grace are Halo 3 even shittier flood missions; Cortana comes to mind.
What were the best moments in Halo 2?
>Why the fuck did they get rid of the assault rifle?
wanna know how i know youre bad?
>If you disregard what makes a game good, the game is bad
It's not you're it's your lol
>When you disregard the multiplayer
Don't phrase it like that.
Point out that the game was carried by its multiplayer.
Being carried is bad and makes the game look worse so that people are willing to ignore it on their own.
Telling people to not count something just makes you look like too retarded to come up with an argument against it whether you're right or not.
Not him, but compared to Chief's his levels are easily the most blandest looking areas of the game and feel pretty boring to fight in.
It's the best multiplayer of the series, and the campaign is better than its reputation, and most of that is just due to the short length and cliffhanger ending. The story is kino and the Arbiter levels are a change of pace in hindsight.
Yeah, mechanics-wise, the magnum and shotguns suck dick, but dual wielding and energy sword make up for it. And it's the only game I've ever known where the glitches were actually fun and extended the life of the game - escaping maps, superjumps, etc.
Literally the best campaign
>Gets both snipers and stays in tower
Nothing personal kid
>hides until the ghost spawns
>9/11'syou
>dual smg's at the ready for close range combat
snipers were shit here too, it had fucking carbine and br spawns.
There was a SP campaign?
Extremely wrong and not based-pilled
>ghost
>he doesnt even know what the banshee is called
eat shit casul
it's been like 10+ years, fuck off
