If it's dubbed, I'll play it with the dub. If it's especially awful, I'll swap it to JP.
Most games aren't especially awful enough to warrant the switch

Oh, forgot to mention notable exception for games with a JP setting like Sekiro.

I'm not a native English speaker so I have no attachment to English dubs and anime games are rarely dubbed in my language, I go with subs as a result.

If it makes sense in the context of the story for the characters to be speaking Japanese, sub. Otherwise, dub.

I can understand english pretty well without subtitles but it's easy to miss some words if you're playing
