DMC was never good anyway

I'm not sure it's better overall but there are definitely significant aspects that are better.

No one thinks that, but it was still a great game. Probably the second best in the series.

DMC3 has a marginally better story while DMC5 does everything else better. If you like the puzzles and atmosphere, fine. But half of DMC3's bosses and enemies are THOSE bosses/enemies that are badly designed or just plain annoying to fight. And the gameplay for DMC3 is starting to show it age. Just as it was hard to go back to DMC1 after playing DMC3, it's hard to go back to DMC3 after playing DMC5 with all of the positive quality of life changes to combat.

Level design

The only thing 3 has over 5 is the overall story. Combat, enemy design, enemy variety, quality of bosses, number of bosses, visuals; 5 is objectively better than 3.

Some of them were pretty bad, but I liked that DMC3 was more willing to experiment with specialized enemy types. DMC5 undoubtedly has a stronger boss roster, though.

You don't have to 'play it for the story' to consider it one of many valuable parts of the series.

There are several bosses in DMC5 that aren't great, but the overall lineup is solid.

Hell even Artemis, they're more solid and fun to play against than most DMC3 bosses like

DMC3 is chore on consecutive playthroughs. Whereas I can keep playing thru 5 as many times as I want without feeling bored.
Not to mention some of the later tree missions in 5 have much better design than most people realize because they only played thru the game once and never found out all the alternate paths they missed. If it doesnt have big fucking objective markers pointing shit, you morons will never know what a good level looks like even if your life depends on it.
Like I said, if you want to stupid fucking exploration in an action game, go play literally any garbage AAA game out there. DMC5 is fucking amazing because its focused in its linearity and maintains a solid pacing throughout the game

Admittedly she's more interesting than the others I mentioned but the fight was a bit too tedious for me.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone give 3 credit for good level design, it's worse than 5 and 5's already pretty bad. Only the first had it right.

I wouldn't think it's better if not for it having better enemies, but not having a bunch of annoying enemies makes me prefer 5 by a bit.

DMC3 stopped being special once DMC4 came out but it still was at the top now with 5 out its all about DMC 5 and 1

Pretty much this. Sometimes i cant force myself to replay most missions in dmc3 just thinking about some of the enmy encounters. Meanwhile dmc 5 is fine for the most part (furies)

One thing I don't really like is now that jump cancel is way easier it really trivializes some of the encounters once you get it.
And they can't really balance the game around it because enemy step is like 50k red orbs so basically no one is gonna use it on their first run.
