Of course someone can be a fan of a game just by watching it. It's just that their opinion carries much less weight than someone who actually sat down and played the whole thing. They can make an argument over story, but some games incorporate the gameplay itself into the story telling. Not many, but some do and 99% of games are made with you playing it in consideration.

I watch a fair amount of Bloodborne videos despite rarely playing the game. I like the atmosphere and lore and visuals, but dislike the mechanics of the game in general. It's less fun to play than to speculate about or watch for me. And no, before you tell me to git gud -- I prefer not to.

3 is a shit game though, 4 was good at least and both have a better soundtrack than 5 did.

3 was also the only new Persona game that had a final boss worth a damn. I generally liked 4 and 5 better, but the final bosses in those games were pretty weak.

Absolutely not. Part of the experience of the game is actually playing it. Especially if it's a challenge to the player. It creates memories and emotional investment that you just can't get from passively watching. It's an experience wholly unique to the medium itself.

If you go to Twitter for feedback, 85% of the people tweeting hot takes at you are not actually people who are going to give you money. I like the DMC games. I own every one that got a release on a platform that I owned, except DmC, but I notoriously suck at them. I often go to a friend's house, who is really good at DMC and just sit around watching him play it.
