Quote's a great choice. They could easily have a mechanic based on leveling up weapons they use when they deal damage and leveling down when hit. The powering up could effect different attacks/weapons differently, diversifying their playstyle further

It would be a meter mechanic for sure but unlike the others you don't get rewarded for getting hit. So as long as you're good you keep your level'd up weapons.

Maya fighting alongside Nick works great in MvC but I'm wondering how you can fit her into a Smash moveset. Maybe she can be put on Side-B?
