Did you clap when you saw the Firelink Shrine ruins in the Dreg Heap?
Did you clap when you saw the Firelink Shrine ruins in the Dreg Heap?
No
No because there's nothing to do there or any significant lore implications because Dark Souls 3 lore is a fucking mess.
Could have been done better
That was the point of the game
that is literally the point
I thought the symbolism was pretty kino
the lore in souls isn’t meant to be taken that literally autismo
Christ dude god forgive the devs go out of their way to provide some form of consistency across two games, get over yourself.
I am not american so no
>Dark Souls 3 lore is a fucking mess.
Yes, the first flame is dying and as a last resort it's reviving people from the dead for kindling and sucking all the lands toward itself like a black hole, set on self-preservation.
The DLCs then have a meta-narrative about worlds rotting and how it needs to die in order for something new to be born (or painted) within the ashes of the original. They even have a girl paint a world (Borne) in the (Blood) of the (dark soul).
Now run along, people who can appreciate a well formed theme are going to talk now.
I never got that far, game was mediocre.
I didn't get where I was until I realized where I was going to proceed to the next area
This always bothers me. Reality is compressed, warping, twisting and collapsing on itself. But that wall still perfectly level.
This.
>it's SUPPOSED to be shit!
Do people really seethe over fleeting references?
>>it's SUPPOSED to be shit!
Describe why a sequel recognizing that the first game's events happened is a bad thing.
>Original has swords
>Sequel has swords
HOW DARE THEY I'M LITERALLY MAD WITH RAGE
It's a result of hipsters/contrarianism. Some people get a little wild about nostalgia, and now you have folks who fucking hate those people and will go out of their way to call anything and everything that's consistent in a sequel "nostalgia bait" because they can't explain their frustration in any more articulate of a way. They're over-emotional babies.
Can you explain the message and theme of Lothric?
The new painted world being Bloodborne is fancanon, retard, it isn't.
Yeah the game starts out by telling you that Lothric showed up where it was un-announced like half the areas you visit in the game. The first flame is converging different lands and bringing them closer to itself to light the flame faster. It's like a sun that has turned into a black hole, that's what the symbol of the dark sign means in this game.
Time has slowed down as it reaches the event horizon. As you pass it into the kiln, you see everything has changed and it looks like hundreds of years have passed from the moment you bring the ashes of lords of cinder back to the maiden, to when you wake up.
This whole series takes place in a world of metaphors and symbols, this was evident from the first game, it's just even more aggressive with it's themes this time around and people are having a hard time interpreting these subtle themes because they're too used to playing videogames that are in your face and explain everything to you. Dark Souls is a JAPANESE game. Japanese games are very heavy with this kinda shit, always have been.
It's a nod in recognition to Bloodborne, it was never meant to be a solid fact.
spbp. Fuck DS3.
didn't even recognize it the first time
What about Lothric being the legacy of Gwyn?
No, I was too busying spamming my 20 free rolls and drinking my instant estus and spamming R1 through this cake-walk of a game.
Why is Anor Londo in the intro in a desert and with no Irithyll in sight? Why is there a giant coffin in Cemetery of Ash? How did Yhorm get to his arena? Why is the Soul of Cinder walking around Firelink moving a corpse and kneeling down and praying with a sword?
>"The Lothric bloodline was obsessed with creating a worthy heir, and when this proved impossible, resorted to unspeakable means. Suffice it to say, the path to linking the fire is a cursed one indeed."
One could speculate they're related to Gwyn. Gwyn seemed to fuck around and shoot his seed everywhere, and has parallels to Zeus so it's no surprise he's been in mad pussy making babies everywhere.
The lothric line might have felt responsible for the first flame's exhaustion and started getting desperate. Lothric seems to be tired of everything and wants to slink away and let the world return to dark.
>Why is Anor Londo in the intro in a desert and with no Irithyll in sight?
It relocated like every location in the game, it was brought to irithyll likely because it's closer to the kiln.
>Why is there a giant coffin in Cemetery of Ash?
There's giants everywhere why is this a question? You even know Yhorm is a giant, why wouldn't there be a giant coffin?
>How did Yhorm get to his arena?
He walked.
>Why is the Soul of Cinder walking around Firelink moving a corpse and kneeling down and praying with a sword?
Was this in the intro or a pre-release teaser? But he's hollow we know that for sure, might be some form of madness like all hollows exhibit.
>Game about using your imagination to connect the story while you travel through it.
>The people who shit on the games lack imagination.
Guys I figured it out.
>Why is Anor Londo in the intro in a desert and with no Irithyll in sight
Because Irithyll, being a few hundred feet below Anor Londo would be buried under the sand.
>It relocated like every location in the game, it was brought to irithyll likely because it's closer to the kiln.
Surely it has nothing to do with Anor Londo being supposed to be in a desert before said desert was recolored white and said "well it's snow now"
>>Why is there a giant coffin in Cemetery of Ash?
>There's giants everywhere why is this a question?
Because it's very deliberately placed in Gundyr's arena, almost as if the thing that came out of it was supposed to be what you fought as the tutorial boss.
>You even know Yhorm is a giant, why wouldn't there be a giant coffin?
How did he get from Cemetery of Ash to the Profaned Capital
>He walked.
He literally can't fit into his fucking room. Even less so access it via Irythill Dungeon
>Was this in the intro or a pre-release teaser?
Intro
>But he's hollow we know that for sure
Oh yeah, do we? Because as far as I know he's "a deific manifestation of the Lords of Cinder, who linked the First Flame". Nothing else
>might be some form of madness like all hollows exhibit
So he was in Firelink before the Ashen One wakes up, no one in there minded him, he walked around with a corpse, knelt down with a sword in form of a prayer, then he fucked off and waited somewhere for you to bring the Lords to the Thrones, after which he somehow made his way to the Kiln, became taller, and sat next to the bonfire?
The Soul of Cinder's armor was supposed to be your armor bro, that's why it's the armor set plastered over all the promotional stuff. And the lore about unkindled ones being undead who melted.
>Game about using your imagination to connect the story
See, that might be true for DS3 but it wasn't originally for Souls games. You don't need to "use your imagination", that's how you get MattPatt-tier theories.
no but I thought it was neat, and very interesting that the path to the ringed city is the hole that frampt comes from
I know, which is why my point is all about how DS3 has things in the final game that make no fucking sense in the way the final draft of the story is presented, because they're there as remnants of other story beats yet weren't taken out. BB has some too but isn't as egregious.
Oh yeah and the snow in Irithyll and Anor londo is retextured sand, they just changed shit at the last minute and the intro cutscene became inaccurate.
You haven't answered the question as to why Anor Londo is in a desert when the narrator talks yet isn't when we get there. Nowhere else in the franchise does this happen.
Dark Souls II lore, world, and atmosphere was so much better. I wish that every game had been almost totally separated from the prior installments. Like by DSIII, they shouldn't even know about Gwyn or Kaathe or Manus or anything else from the first game because so much time has passed.
>but it wasn't originally for Souls games.
Newfag.
>retard couldn't connect dots in DeS and DaS and thinks you totally had to wait for VaatiVidya to post a video stolen from Yas Forums to know the lore
It isn't?
>That one video made by a seething autist that deliberately skips Dark Souls II for his Dark Souls timeline.
Man you are really hung up on this trivial nonsense, almost like you're grasping at straws in spite of being told very specifically that the lands are moving and time is lapsing repeatedly throughout the game and it doesn't just happen once. You arrive at the end of the game to a Kiln with entire cities squished and curled around it.
Why are you having so much trouble understanding this? We can explain it but we can't understand it FOR you.
Too add to this, why is Oceiros garden full of graves on the walls and why is Gundyr a reference to Doran?
Why are you posting a picture of Gael's Arena?
>>retard couldn't connect dots in DeS and DaS
And you can't do it for dark souls 3.
>VaatiVidya
Keep your hateboner for irrelevant people out of this discussion please. Pointing fingers and acting like a child isn't going to make you look "correct". I don't even know what theories this guy has, dark souls 3 is very fucking plain in it's presentation and themes.
Just because you can't understand them doesn't make the game shit, it makes you slow.
It's the same location in the intro
>BOY I SURE LOVE REUSED ASSETS
DS3 shouldn't have ever came out. Even 2 was bad, they should have stopped there.
I sure saw Lothric and the ruined remains of the Ringed City in the intro. And you know what screwed me over while fighting Gael? The pilgrims dead on the floor. Yep, really is the same place.
Who? I wouldn't blame him anyway, dark souls 2 is a fucking mess with it's "want" theme coming out of nowhere at the ass end of the game and never once being alluded to or explained in any sense of the word. The game was made by a man trying to imitate Miyazaki's style and not understanding Miyazaki has a vision in mind for his vague shit. Dark souls 2 is vague for the sake of being vague, it's hard for the sake of being hard. It's a shallow game.
The shit some retards come up with to explain the final game's plot being a disjointed mess of several plot drafts
Gael's area is so fucking good.
>And you can't do it for dark souls 3.
There are no dots to connect in what's being discussed ITT because the reason they're there straight up doesn't exist in the game and we factually know so, no matter what you'd like to think.
>>retard couldn't connect dots in DeS and DaS
Yeah I'm certain you knew every detail of the story and characters in Dark Souls the first time you played through it.
>The game was made by a man
We're off to a good start lad
>There are no dots to connect in what's being discussed ITT
Thanks for proving me right, run along now.
DUDE DUST AND ASH LMAO SO EMPTY, LOOK AT ALL THIS RUIN LMAO, SUCH DEEP THEMES, SUCH EMPTINESS, MUCH WOW
>The game's intro which is supposed to set the stage is trivial nonsense
Get fucked
>dalmost like you're grasping at straws
Ironic coming from people defending 3's intro
in spite of being told very specifically that the lands are moving
It's very curious how Anor Londo is the only one that moves from the intro to the final game. Even more curious how the snow in Irythill doesn't actually pile up like real snow does
>Why are you having so much trouble understanding this?
Understanding a shit plot isn't hard. It's convincing indoctrinated retards that it's bad what's hard
No I never clap at a videogame and seeing those ruins in dreg heap did absolutely nothing for me, seeing the izalith ruins actually got a bit nostalgic tho
Made think that I'd rather be fighting those dead demons that were on display than those actually alive in DS3
That's the problem
"Consistent" is the last word you'd use to describe 3
lmfao get fucked. Come back when you figure out how Yhorm got to his arena or why the Soul of Cinder acts like a human around Firelink Shrine
I only clap for majula
I didn't even notice it because the game had already told me that "firelink shrine" was this completely fucking different looking place with the same name.
