After the kotaku article and the recent developer testimonials on Twitter detailing the work environment at Naughty Dog studios I can not in good conscenince support their toxic work practices.

No product, no matter how great, is worth sacrificing worker health and well being.

It is clear that things need to change in much of the industryin regards to crunch culture and so I will be carefully considering where my money is spent in order to support developers that do not rely oncrunch and avoid supporting ones who do.

Last of Us 2 will be the first of many games I am sure I will need to boycott. This will be my main deciding factor in purchasing games going forward.

If you, like me, see this as unacceptable I urge you to join me in not supporting this practice with your money.

It bothers me that the story is what people praise the game about. It's basically generic zombie schlock with a little bit of The Road-esque father-son dynamic thrown in there because???
Ellie was mis-wrote to shit, Joel was boring, the side characters were stupid, the game stopped giving a fuck about the pandemic like a half hour in (similar to most modern zombie trash.)
The gameplay was decent for what it was aiming to do, that being a slightly more grounded Uncharted-like with an emphasis on supplies and ammo conservation. But it wasn't /that/ great. I had fun with it and could see it's glaring flaws.
It's not an egregiously horrible game that pandered to art-fags and liberal art college students so it won a gorrillian awards. That's the worst part, that it was so okay in everything it did but was genuinely overrated to the point where any discerning opinion is shot down because of stupid strawman.
