can hardly see parts of this game in ones that came after it
parts of the original zelda and a link to the past can be seen in games today
can think of a bunch of games more influential than oot
Why is this considered influential?

Who considers it influential?
It's pure nostalgiafagging just like practically every other piece of praise the game gets
n64 is a shit console btw
Zoomers have to be taking over Yas Forums. We see this thread every day.
comes up in lists and brought up whenever the game is talked about
true
>2pac
And you were doing so well until then
Combat mechanics. Any game you have played in the last 20+ years with competent 3D swordplay more than likely has OoT to thank for paving the way for it.
>can hardly see parts of this game in ones that came after it
Third person action games were never the same after it came out.
>z-targeting
>context buttons
>automatic jumping
Try playing the game, it's not hard to figure out what 3D staples became mainstream as a result of OoT.
Even if it didn't influence a ton of games it definitely influenced culture/society. Just look at how many gamer nerds xD have zelda related tattoos. It also helped make Nintendo as huge as they are. It's an influential game whether you deny it or not.
me too it's just boomers that grew up with it so they think it's perfect and has no major flaws when it's probably one of the worst 3D titles released on N64
Tomb raider was 2 years before oot and megaman legends had targeting in 3d space before oot you uneducated nintenkiddie pedo retard.
Goemon 64 did it first and better.
>Third person action games were never the same after it came out.
yeah I know, they learnt from it's shitty camera and improved upon it never making that HORRIBLE mistake again
>Tomb raider was 2 years before oot
Yes and notice how much worse the controls and camera during combat is.
>and megaman legends had targeting in 3d space before oot
And it was significantly more limited.
>zoomers don't like Star Wars
What sort of bullshit is this?
Zoomers love star wars you retard. It's a mainstream franchise that has all those Lego games and cartoons
The N64 as a whole has a certain soulfull magick about it the can't be experienced anywhere else. Especially when you grew up playing it. It's inter dimensional. Too complicating for zoomers to understand. Hell im 18 and i understand. It really is magick. When you hear and see the ripple effect jumping into a painting in super mario 64....it just hits different. When you hear the synth like sound start creeping in on wave race 64...its just a different feeling. If you know you know I suppose. When you hear conker say "ah, marvelous"....it hits your heart chakra. When you hear the kids laughing while the rare logo is showing on diddy kong racing...it represents the fun we had as kids playing such a soulfull video game experience.
>Multiple games that predate OoT
>neither had the budget when made or the reputation of Zelda
>worse
Well no fucking shit. Who would have every thought that 2 games made on a console that people weren't entirely sure how to make games for at the time would be worse??
no way it's garbage compared to ps1 those controls alone make it unplayable
The question was "how is this game influential?" and I answered it. I'm not saying TR or MML are bad games.
Even as a joke this post makes my skin crawl
holy nintendie sycophant cringe batman
>he thinks it's just targeting
>he thinks aiming and shooting is the same as close range combat
>he can't possibly conceive of how much easier it would be to implement the former than an instance of the latter like OoT's swordplay
Zoomers hate Star Wars because it's "fake-looking old people stuff".
Zoomers don't care about anything made before 2005. That's part of what makes them zoomers.
OoT is influential based on nostalgic bias created by conditioning rather than the hard facts of who dun it first and its quality is objectively up for debate as well especially due to bias.
How many games past 1998 have controls like Tomb Raider or Mega Man Legends that aren't a sequel to either game? Keep in mind MML2 controls more like OoT than the first game in it's own series.
>you uneducated nintenkiddie pedo retard.
Who hurt you?
Who touched you in your bad place?
Was it Uncle Richard? Did he make your small pee pee hard?
How out of touch can you be
Z Targeting.
It wasnt the first to do it but it was the first to do it well enough to set the template everyone else would copy. I like MML and Tomb Raider but many people struggle to go back to them today. Happens with oot too but nowhere near as much.
Zeldas sword play was garbage up until Twilight princess. Try again faggot.
None because they improved on their bullshit instead of staying the same for the sake of nostalgia. Change makes stupid people uneasy but also zelda is simple as fuck.
Nintendo fans are neckbeard pedophiles.
>shitty camera
Play King's Field for 10 minutes, try to hit something with your sword, then get back to me and say OoT's camera and perspective were shitty, because prior to OoT that's what it was like to try and hit things with a sword in 3D.
Nothing says "zoomer" like movies from the 70s and 80s with outdated special effects, right?
Zoomers are idiots who only like new stuff covered in CGI. Did you seriously think zoomers were cultured? That's why no zoomer has ever praised Citizen Kane.
This but without irony.
>None because they improved on their bullshit instead of staying the same for the sake of nostalgia
Okay but the improvements were made because Ocarina of Time set the bar higher.
is this bait, or are you really out of touch?
only new york city liberal film students pretend to like citizen kane in this day and age stop trying to be a pretentious faggot
ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
Nigger, you'd probably call me a zoomer and I grew up loving star wars. Get your head out of your ass and maybe talk to a young person for once instead of just seething about old generation good new generation bad
>Zeldas sword play was garbage up until Twilight princess. Try again faggot.
You lack perspective. Name 3 3D games prior to OoT that had better swordplay.
You don't interact with zoomers at all
We literally grew up with shit like the clones war cartoons and the Lego games. I remember in high school a kid admitted they haven't seen star wars and after finals were done we watched it in class
Star Wars is normalfag shit
It's complete shit. I played it a couple weeks back and I used to love this game as a kid, glad I took the nostalgia goggles off it just doesn't hold up anymore these days.
Do you live under a fucking rock? Disneyland opened up a fucking star wars land and zoomers ate that shit up
I have literally heard zoomers say they refuse to watch anything made before 2005. I said "what about Star Wars", and take a wild guess what their response was.
Zoomers hate old stuff. Maybe not all zoomers, but a good chunk of them do.
this is one of the most autistic images I've seen on Yas Forums, I feel like it's the same tard posting it who doesn't understand what zoomers like
did that really happen, user? it's unbecoming to lie
Yeah, I bet zoomers watch black and white movies and listen to classical music, right?
Since when did zoomers EVER like old stuff? That's why people ITT are calling OP a zoomer for bashing OoT.
The world would honestly be better off if zoomers were just gassed to death. Destroy Discord too.
the 90's boomers here do not fucking watch 50's films and listen to mozart fuck off larper
t.1985 baby
I rest my case.
yeah why is tolkein considered so influential anyway? it's just generic high fantasy
My millennial friend won't watch anything before the 80's or 90's. It's just a normalfag thing.
>giving every opinion he doesn't like a (you)
absolutely seething.
We live in the worst timeline
Don't see how. Framerate and visuals aside, it's still a very well designed game, if not a bit rudimentary by modern standards. But it isn't bad either. Even then, it still features some above average 3D design ideas like Forest Temple's twisting hallways, Water Temple's multi-floor water management and Shadow Temple's invisibility shenanigans.
>more shitty bait
It's all so tiresome
that's not an apt comparison at all though, I bet you thought you were smart clacking that out on your keyboard didn't you?
if you dislike Ocarina of Time, you have poor taste. it's that simple oh God I wish I could play the beta version
Ocarina of time set the bar higher
>Doubt.jpg
Nintendo fans are delusional. If you had said mario 64 I'd maybe have given you some credit but I dont see. Unless you're talking about the 3 triangles appearing on targeted enemies because I'll totally give you that lmao
>bushido blade
>nightmare creatures
>die by the sword
I could go on because each of those combat systems had way more death and all came out before oot
Boomer: youtube.com
Zoomer: youtube.com
Simple as
why's it not an apt comparison? didn't you learn how to make arguments in school
>lists more evolutionary dead ends for 3D combat
As I said it set the bar higher.
>links a song from 2012
it's the little things
Ok? What's your point?
Because before Tolkien there actually wasn't high fantasy but before OoT there actually were games with all the elements that OoT supposedly """"invented"""""
I'd say because it felt like the first 3D adventure game that managed to mix a good story with platforming, action, and great puzzling elements. Prior to OoT there wasn't really any other game that had handled that kind of experience in a 3D space nearly as well as how OoT did.
Nintendies didn't have many games on the N64, so they pretend this and SM64 were masterpieces that stand the test of time.
It's always funny how anally devastated zeldaniggers get when people point out how shit OoT is
Not being as popular or as hype as zelda doesnt make them dead ends nor does it change the fact that their combat is better and more interesting than OoT. Treyarch who made die by the sword made 3 of the most popular games of all time lmao. Nightmare creatures and bushido blade both got sequels. I'm not trying to say OoT is bad but your conditioned bias is pretty bad bro
>before OoT there actually were games with all the elements that OoT supposedly """"invented"""""
Incorrect.
SM64 definitely has managed to stand the test of time. There are better 3D platformers, sure, but playing SM64 is no less viable today than if one wanted to re-experience the joy of the original Super Mario Bros. again even though titles like 3 and World have long since surpassed the original.
