Yep. Its now my favourite in the franchise alongside 3.

No I wanted co op without mods. And I didn’t get it.

Not really, it was rather underwhelming. Gameplay was same old, locations and story were subpar.

kind of. i was absolutely certain there'd be vergil dlc but nope

No fucking Vergil what the fuck

These. V is shit too.

Hey guys, it's your friend Matt Walker here. We really appreciate all of your support here at Capcom so don't forget to consume, consume, consume. We all know you'll do the right thing when these so called "fans" voice their honest opinions about Itsuno-san's latest 7/10 masterpiece. Rock on! ^_^

No. Not at all. A definite step up from 4 but not particularly satisfying.

Thanks for letting us buy the same game again for playable vergil.

No.

cope harder

This bait is so fucking shit no else but you has bothered posting it, just give up please it's embarrassing

nah.

>reach m13
>able to play with 2 other randoms
>"this is fun, cant wait for the coop bp! ^_^"
>they release bp without coop
i love the game but this is just bull shit. whats the point of having an online system if they won't even gonna use it?

need to finish the game but Not-Dante makes me not want to play it.

Absolutely.
Combat is the best it's ever been. Dante's new weapons and revamped styles along with SDT and quadruple S are an absolute blast to play away with while decimating scores of enemies. Breakers and Bringer Knuckle are fucking great addition to Nero's formerly rather lacking moveset and differentiating him from Dante. V is a nice change of pace, a bit clunky and takes some learning to get his mechanics and playstle to click with you but he definitely doesn't ruin the entire game like anons bitch constantly about. Music was great. Nothing that stuck out that much like in DMC3 aside from the main themes but it was solid all around. Environments are thematically appropriate and have great atmosphere to them, even the tree levels were far and away more diverse and interesting to look at than 2 and 3's corridors when you actually take the time to check stuff out though that's rather subjective and I can understand the complaints. Story is good and does a great job tying everything together neatly but obviously was rushed by that last third due to either budget or time constraints but my brain can put two and two together and appreciate what they did do and attempted to do enough to genuinely enjoy the experience. Secret mission aren't stupidly obtuse. No janky platforming
or puzzles to break the pace and excitement for the next encounter. Being able to pause BP is an absolute godsend too. Overall, it's a solid 8.5 with some 15/10 bits to it. My only gripes are the ranking system and loading screens. Otherwise? I was only left wanting more.

seething.

Not really, but it gave me hope that NG4 might happen some day.

If Capcom were to announce the next Devil May Cry game was a sequel to DmC how would you react? What if they made it clear it was just a spin-off, unrelated to the eventual DMC 6? What if Tameem didn't behave like a colossal mongoloid and kept his mouth shut this time? What if it seemed they'd learned their lessons from the Definitive Edition and reworked the gameplay, taking onboard the criticisms levelled towards the vanilla game? Would you give it a chance? Or did Ninja Theory complete blow any hope of that out of the water with their first attempt?

Attached: DmC Dante.png (1200x675, 1M)

**oh almost forgot. Enemy design is 7/10. Every enemy is fun as hell to fight and style on, with exception to a select few but they're no big deal once you figure out the methods to take them out easier. Unlike some shit in previous games that made me want to blow my brains out on repeat playthroughs on harder difficulties.

Now that we got DMC5 and my bitterness has ebbed some towards it, I'd probably give it a chance just out of curiosity and minor interest to see if they learned from their mistakes after the near trainwreck that was the first go around.

I think it did, it certainly did better then DMC4 or DmCrap

Yes and no

Gameplay is the best the series has seen, Nero is better written this time around and the music is finally good

But its too easy (both in difficult and getting high ranks), doesn't give Dante enough new stuff, really inconsistent in tone and V is in the wrong game.

>did better then DMC4
enjoyment wise or sales-wise? Because I enjoyed DMC4 a lot more than 5 despite it only having ~12 stages

Yes and no.

Game was great and I absolutely loved it.
However it looks like Capcom released it and completely forgot about DMC again.

Not that user but
>Enjoyed DMC4 for more
How? I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, I'm genuinely curious. For me, 5 did everything 4 did but miles better and added so many things that I don't want to be without in future installments. What did you get out of 4 that made it more enjoyable for you?

Forgive me, but no.
It existing is a miracle on its own, and I shouldn't be ungrateful, but no.

Attached: no point.gif (160x160, 85.82K)

I prefered the variety that the game had to offer. The stages, while few, were all more interestign than the red and black stages of 5. I also prefered the way Dante and Nero acted in 4, compared to 5. I also found myself enjoying the boss battles in 4 way more than in 5. owever, the gameplay in 5 is superior to 4.

My expectations are absurdly high and unrealistic, they couldn't meet them even if they tried.

The mere fact the game exists at all and it's actual core DMC instead of more DmC or an unbirthed failure like DMC2 is already good enough for me.

oh yeah who could forget such iconic stages such as
> castle
> town
> forest

Yes, even despite the many flaws it is my favorite action game

Yes, three distinct locations. Now, in DMC 5 it is:
>Red and black area
>Red and black area
>Oh you fight Vergil on top of the red and black area? AWESOME! It's Blue now!

who even cares for stages in DMC, like alright if you do but they've been mediocere since 1

I suppose. I'm mostly kind of jaded by all the stupid puzzle nonsense, backtracking, and frustrating enemy designs and placement in 4 to appreciate the variety in level design. It was good but I was too frustrated to really take it in, plus it felt more like a final fantasy game than DMC. 5's levels weren't all that colorful but they were consistent in feel with 1, 2, and 3 in comparison for me and I liked the horror atmosphere though I do wish the colors were just a bit brighter and less washed out. I know they were going for a bleak tone and all but I think they went a bit too far with it. Also I can kind of understand Dante, since 5Dante is more or less on a warpath and not having just having fun like his usual outings so he's not everyone's cup of tea in 5, but Nero is leagues better in 5 than he is in 4 and he finally feels like his own man instead of just Dante-lite despite oddly being more like his uncle in 5 than he was in 4. it's hard to explain. it's like he hits the same beats but with his own flavor.

Yeah not too much you can do with stages in an action game like DMC lest you run the risk of getting fucked by bullshit like in Fromsoft games.

Half and half. Gameplay was what I wanted and there was some good variety with bosses, but the story and level design were disappointing. Great action game though. I had a lot of fun with it

No, I partially agree. More than anything Vergil doesn't act like Vergil anymore. People shit talk him every single time they are addressing him and he takes it like a bitch. He has nothing to respond with and comes off as such a pushover. He used to be threatening, fierce, Dante's fucking equal. Now, not only is he a bitch but in the most metaphorical of ways he doesn't look like Dante since is he is not his equal. His appearance is just a reflection of this.

What do you expect from the Netflix animated series, anons?

it'll be shit like netflixvania

The mechanics , the additions to the old characters and the graphics are much better compared to the rest of the series. But it lacks content without Vergil and there aren't enough missions imo.

Too much talking and basically a cartoon with an anime style. There are so many pointless scenes in Castlevania and some are extended to the point of being excessive.

Look at this scene:
youtube.com/watch?v=cXE3lWnq2iM
It's too long, too fucking superfluous and downright awful. It just deteriorates as it progresses and goes from passable to outright shit in two minutes. The series has too much fat and lacks polish.

Lady will be transgender.

oh shit that was fast

It's almost like he's mellowed out due to his experiences as V and can't hide his emotions behind power autism(at least not fully anymore). And what shit talk is he just 'taking' now? Dante tells him to hand over the Yamato and he's just like 'come get it, then' and before that he basically tells Dante to fuck off and rest up before they fight again. During his fight with Dante they're mostly just being competitive and having fun UNTIL Dante brings up Nero and Vergil instinctively gets defensive until he calms down afterwards. And with Nero obviously he's got complicated feelings dealing with his SON who's arm he tore off and realized he basically manipulated all of 5. He's not really going to be thinking of witty responses while also trying NOT to kill his own child who's fighting tooth and nail against him to keep him alive. And afterwards, when all is said and done, Vergil has no reason to be sassy and aggressive towards Dante or Nero who aren't even shit talking him by that point. Dante's just reminding him they need to deal with the tree along with Nero and Nero's making a fuss about them sealing themselves in hell. What did you want him to say? Undo all his character development and act like a complete twat to his brother and son who he's come to understand and empathize with due to his time with V?

Think the devs are just letting the fans do playable Vergil's work for them at this point?

i just tried this new update out and its crazy how far along its gotten, from a buggy mess to pretty decently playable

Finally S-Ranked M10 on DMD

Standing in a corner facing the wall with Round Trips spinning behind you while you dance to retro funk music 4 times is not fun

I backed up my save at the checkpoints so I could reload if I fucked up my style points after a fight

Fans won’t (can’t, really) give him Beowulf or Force Edge though. If the people who are hungry for playable Vergil actually figure out how to implement new weapons/movesets into the game, though, god help us all, because that opens the door to the greatest modding rush ever.

If Vergil can trick to snatch points correctly now, does that mean they can implement the same fix for Dante?

>It's almost like he's mellowed out due to his experiences as V
I'm going to stop right there. Clearly you fell for it. V was lying the whole time. He wasn't sorry, he didn't have a change of heart. He was manipulating everyone so that he could get back to being Vergil. That was his plan all along. The whole 'I get it now, I'm so remorseful' thing was an act. If you didn't get that from the game go read the manga.

As for the rest, clearly you are unable to see when someone shit talks to someone else since to you calling others fucking assholes and having the put their middle finger up in the air and screaming Fuck You is probably normal conversation.

His dishonesty became honesty as he progressed. Forcing himself to spend time among the heroes, combined with having cut out all the selfish and power-hungriest parts of himself, gave him empathy for those people who became his friends. He didn’t intend to catch feelings midway through but he still clearly did by the time it was over.

Yeah, that sounds more like what you want him to be like rather than what actually happened.

>Forcing himself to spend time among the heroes
Did you really just type that? God, your fanfictions must be the most obvious, by the book stories.

Read
>shit talks to someone else since to you calling others fucking assholes and having the put their middle finger up in the air and screaming Fuck You is probably normal conversation.
Yeah, Nero. His son. The guy he genuinely thanked and who helped him when he needed him most. The guy he opened up to about how he felt the only other being Trish. The guy who's arm he ripped off. The guy who would be most hurt by his actions. Getting understandably upset and angry at him, and already made clear as pissed as he was he was still trying to save him. So Vergil understandably isn't exactly in the mood to be all that sassy or a prick. Though he does squeeze in that 'it's past your bedtime line' because he IS still Vergil but he's changed enough to not be a complete asshole.

Dante already can do Nero's grapling points same as V
You literalky have full divergence mode for Nero/V. Same for Dante but he can't play m7

He literally confesses his remorse over his actions to Trish when it would have only benefited him to stay quiet about it and opens up to Nero after he saves him from Malphas and helps carry him to Urizen. And in the mission against the illusions he expresses honest relief to see that he was safe. If you couldn't put together that he came to genuinely care and feel remorse, I don't know what to tell you.

I mean his plan compelled him to be with Nero for most of the journey to Urizen. Vergil could have played friendly and never truly cared (and that was probably his plan) but having cut out the most ruthless parts of himself, V couldn’t do it. Coming to identify with people you spend time cooperating with is a really basic human trait (it’s why Stockholm Syndrome exists), it takes a remarkably cold and calculating mind to pretend to be someone’s friend or ally for long stretches of time without coming to believe that it’s true. His plan comes to fruition and he returns to himself as Vergil, but he can’t undo the real compassion he developed for Nero and Dante along the way, despite the fact that he probably wanted to.

Shit, that mod has come a long way. I usually don’t bother with trainers because it’s a pain in the ass to constantly start a separate program after starting a game in Steam (COMMUNITY EDITION MOD WHEN DAMMIT) but I may give it a shot.

>expecting Vergil before a special edition release
brave and naive

>tfw probably never get to do this with anons online because i'm a consolefag and too poor for a gaming pc

it hurts bros...

Vergil didn't give a shit about anything V or Urizen did once he came back and only wanted to keep being the same self-centered asshole he was back in 3. The whole point of the finale was Dante and Nero bashing it into his thick skull that he can't keep acting like that.

i'm sorry user

Did you miss the cutscene of him going to the top of the qliphoth and musing to himself about how if he and dante switched places, if he were the one who eva tried to protect, his life might have turned out differently? That and the scene of him thanking Nero pretty much confirm what he did as V had an effect on him. And without that experience as V, the ending would have probably been a repeat of 3. Vergil refusing to listen to anything and needing to be put down. Instead, he actually listens to reason and does the right thing.

Just use royalguard to get to S or higher style rank before hitting anybody in the first encounter, and then play the rest normally without getting hit too much and you win. did this to get the S rank on my first try in my turbo playthru yesterday.
like yeah the scoring system sucks but what the fuck bro loading the saves is basically cheating. why not just make dante invincible too

And yet he still insisted on slicing Dante and Nero to ribbons because "I'm the strongest". His mind is so one-track that it took two Spardas to finally make it switch lanes.

No.

I love devil trigger

When playing as Nero and Dante it exceeded my expectations by a landslide and was easily the best action game I have ever played.
When playing as V I wanted to kill myself.
