It's absolute garbage

>showcases themes like racism at a surface level but does not explore them
>zero player agency (e.g. in Bioshock the decision to kill Sander Cohen or not was organic and did not take control away from the player. In Infinite choices like throwing the baseball are a fucking button prompt)
This game got evangelized because people thought mentioning racism and parallel universes/quantum physics automatically made the game smart and stupid journalists wanted to validate their own profession by saying "guys guys look video games have finally arrived at art status"

I liked it despite the sudden surge of quantum physics professors poking holes in the game after it came out

It's alright. Not the best shooter of the gen though, it and TLOU are overhyped, but they aren't bad either.

It's alright. The degree to which they don't commit to themes is the bothersome thing. Like, you think it's going to be a game about racism, then you think it's going to be a game about capitalism, then you think it's going to be a game about radical ideologies in general, but then it just brushes that all aside so Ken Levine can jack off onto the screen while moaning about timelines. It's neat that they got the logic to work out, I'm sure that took a lot of time in the writing room, but it comes at the expense of fun and having something to say. Considering the fact that Levine has been tucked away in the bowels of 2K working with a small team on making an actually fun game, I have high hopes for his future. I hope Infinite was a fluke.

I spent a good portion of Burial at Sea not knowing they'd swapped things around so you could carry more than two guns again. Having played all three main titles recently it's got a better villain than 2.

It's shit. Still carries the "shock" suffix yet has completely stripped away everything that associates it with System Shock. The only thing that makes it a Bioshock game is that you can shoot lightning and shit out of your hands.

They gave it the DOOM and Fallout treatment: Forgo all of the nuances and intricacies of previous incarnations and just keep the most marketable staples.

This pretty much, you think the game is going to come around to an ending that will tie together all the themes it brings up but it doesn’t, it doesn’t finish its own narrative like the original Bioshock did, it just completely forgets about Columbia and just goes “lol timelines”

I don't think it was ever meant to be as deep as a System Shock game. Bioshock 1 did a good job of establishing its own premise, however, and had a few linking ideas to the System series. Infinite, however, seemed to only understand any of this at a surface level at best, and filled the rest with pseudo-intellectual bullshit while completely wasting a cool setting with gimmicks and dull gameplay.

Bioshock 1 may not have been a perfect homage, but it certainly did well enough. The hacking system, various ammo types, skill specialization, etc were all present and flowed together nicely. Infinite either threw all of that away or simplified it down to the most basic level.

While you can say Infinite is still part of the "Shock" family, it's still tied more to Bioshock than SS, and even then only loosely on the gameplay front.

I liked it alot when I was younger, but in retrospect you can tell it's a shell of it's original vision. Elizabeth is still the queen of SFM though. She loves fucking shotas

I love the city and the potential, I hate the story and where it goes (I wanted more exploration like the first two games), and I don't like Elizabeth as a character. Plus nowadays she's just fap bait and that's it.

Honestly, it's a fun FPS but lacks the charm, story and gameplay of the first Bioshock.

Bioshock 2 with all it's problems still kept the gameplay whereas Infinate was watered down.

Bioshock works best imo when it takes a seemingly "good" and popular idea and commentates on it.

I won't speak for everyone else but I think the game is pretty shit. Gameplay is worse than the previous games, 2 weapon limit but old upgrade system makes no sense and the weapon pool is pretty big towards the end so it's very likely you'll end up using shit unupgraded weapons thanks to ammo scarcity. The story is also complete fart sniffing garbage that tries to be "deep" but ends up not making sense within it's own rules. Easily the most overrated game that came out that gen, I don't understand how anyone liked it even slightly.

It's a damn shame, Sherry, Sarah, Lara, and the Overwatch girls are still at an all time high. Elizabeth opened the doors for SFM and paved the way for the next generation and now she's all but forgotten
