Not very comfy RPG thread

KotOR1 destroyed mainstream cRPGs.
Bioware is an undead abomination.
Dragon Age has single player MMO mechanics.
Baldur's Gate 3 level 10 cap seems rather low for an illithid adventure.
Pathfinder devs will get overly ambitious again.

>every game with atributes is called rpg
>no modern RPG lets you play as bad guy
>half of NPCs are unkillable
>levelscaling and bulletsponges
>terrible writing
>no decisions based on atributes/skills

what time to be alive

Kotor1 is irrelevant trash.
Dragon Age ended with Awakening.
Larian don't know what they're doing with BG3.
A game without ambition is a game not worth playing.

Kingmaker is perfect

remember how cruel you could be in pst

DA combat really was an mmo tank and spank shitfest.

Pitax is a cardboard mock-up of a city.
The game peaked with Lichclops.

kotor is a cool game and mission funny, i liked bioware games, dragon age is pretty nice i liked morrigan and funny companion banter, baldurs gate 3 might be super fun who knows, pathfinder dont know who they are. dont be so serious bro enjoy video games they are funny hobby

only crpg i played was Deadfire and i 100% it
i enjoyed it as well, tho grim dawn had much more soul it wasnt propper rpg, tho you had much more decisions than in skyrim and fallout4 together

>BG3 capped to level 10
Mindflayers are CR 7-9 in 5e so that actually seems pretty fair, as long as they incorporate some of the cooler 10-20 abilities into the lower levels.

>dyed, dike hair

I have a question about BG2 maybe someone here will know. There is a mod called Refinements for BG2 that changes all HLAs for base classes/kits to make them more unique. If anyone here ever used it did you have any compatibility issues?
I have shitload of kit mods installed, will installing this on top of those cause my computer to combust or something? I'm also looking for monk mods to make them better, similar to Balthazar if possible

Every EE NPC deserves to be dissected and dumped into jars.

He lost the elf ears lmao youre a human now faggot

They cut him off from the Tree of Life.
And Ellesime still has his CDs and toothbrush.

>I'm actually enjoying Deadfire
Probably the prettiest crpgs right now. Shame, that combat is a bit too easy even on PoTD.

Lol no, barely worth playing.

We will never get a proper Warhammer Fantasy RPG with player starting as Muleskinner or Dung Farmer.
PnP Warhammer was almost a different setting when you think about it...

Attached: Marian Everchosen.png (1051x1051, 1.12M)

Were there any Warhammer rpgs at all? It's kind of strange honestly.

I can think of two lame recent hack'n'slash games. So no, not really.

Attached: Everchosen-Czarek.gif (1080x1080, 1.33M)

We will never get another Planescape or Spelljammer game because weird specialized setting got dissolved and only exist in some kind of Limbo.

Am I insane or is the vampire bitch bugged as hell from the second you meet her? If you tell her to fuck off when she ask for the cloak or ask her a few questions before you tell her you're gonna kill her dumbass it bugs out. Is beamdog really that fucking bad they can't patch something so simple in a old game?

Paździoch?

>he has already forgotten about tyranny

T(y)ranny pussied out on the bad guy aspect.

pee pee poo poo on your grandpas grave faggot

Retard thread you mean.

>KotOR1 destroyed mainstream cRPGs.
It's just a normal D&D 3E game like NWN

>Dragon Age has single player MMO mechanics.
It's literally just a Medieval Fantasy reskin of KotOR with same mechanics and proper PC-centric UI unlike KotOR

>Baldur's Gate 3 level 10 cap seems rather low for an illithid adventure.
It uses 5E, in 5E Level 10 is basically equivalent of 20 in 2E/3E because they dumbed everything down for lowest common denominator plebeians, blame Trannies of the Coast

>Pathfinder devs will get overly ambitious again
The only thing wrong with Kingmaker was the cancerous kingdom management VN

a level 10 party can fight a mind flayer easily.

>Pathfinder
>Ambigious
>Again
Excuse me ?

Level 10 cap seems perfect to me. Kangmaker combat got fucking retarded as early as level 8-9

So I was told that
>Level 1
Is like a Expert
>Level 5
Is a Master
What is Levels 10, 15, and 20 for a class?

Dragon Age is a dogshit single player MMO compared to Dragon's Dogma and Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning.

Eh, that monk dude was acceptable. I don't even remember his name however..

Totally, plus her dialogue is really bad. So bad you will feel like whole conversations have bugged out. Just kill her immediately after she appears.

cringe

Ambitious. He means that they will cram in too much garbage in there

Kingmaker for example had
>shitty kingdom management minigame that was too basic to have any fun with
>repetitive encounters where the only design factor was "how overpowered stats do we give this thing", resulting in poor combat with little strategy
>so much dialogue its insane, but none of it was actually good or memorable
>a noticeable drop in quality in later chapters of the game as they clearly ran out of time
>the whole game was broken at release, unacceptable levels of bugs

As it stands kingmaker feels like a "quantity over quality" game, sure there's a 120 hours campaign and you get decently entertained but theres barely any well crafted fights or story moments there. Also the best stuff is in the first 2 chapters then it falls off hard

>40k crpg
>you are a regular militarum that had to be retired due to losing an arm
>after getting your implant the eye of terrow swallows your ship
>you end up in a chaos planet ran by the world bearers and daradkmech
>you get to see all the monstrosities that the chaos army does, absolute degeneracy , like that shitty game Agony
>Plays exactly just like Planescape torment but with kingdom mechanics like pathfinder where you slowly take a hold on the world with renegades marines and renegades militarum.

Attached: 1583150635865.jpg (803x995, 155K)

And then he gets triggered by based Viki and put down like a mad dog.

This so much.

yeah... kingmaker had a lot of bugs due to time restriction, sometimes your kingdom got randomly destroyed, you couldn't advance the story cause the other quest never started, etc. They got too ambitious and it seems like Wrath is following the same path, i don't know why they can't simply do the main game, most of the kickstarter rewards look like garbage a 12 year old would ask for , do those as DLC or something.

Attached: 1583790147730.png (750x1100, 744.52K)

So can a Lich romance her? Is a Lich even capable?

But can they fight an illithid spelljammer ship chased by red dragons?

These are the questions owlcats fanboys seem more concerned with, rather than improving the main game

I played the EE when it first came out, and her portrait never switched to black Hexxat, so for the entire game I thought she was white. It was only when I started browsing Yas Forums threads about it that I realised she was supposed to be black.

Also, huge portions of her dialogue were bugged for me and didn't make sense.

Attached: 1520930967432.png (657x527, 38.14K)

It was more a joke but anyway I do like the changes they said they were doing.
>Shorter campaign
Kingmaker was great but way too fucking long. I think they said this one is 80 hours? Not bad.
>No kingdom shit
I think they mentioned some kind of army management but it's probably gonna be less retarded
>Reactivity
No more being a tiefling and asking a tiefling what a tiefling is. Or being a Paladin and asking a Paladin what a Paladin does.
>Mod support
A user in /pfg/ said he was going to make a Kobold mod. Lots of fun shit will happen.

We know we can reanimate important NPCs...
And dead girls never say no...

Attached: boning incoming.png (500x371, 326.07K)

Kind of vague as to what exactly you mean. Depends on the system, I'd broadly categorize it as
>1
Better than the average person, skilled and quickly building their expertise of their particular skillset.
>4+
An expert in their general craft, now dabbling in more exotic specializations.
>10+
A local legend in some places, popular/notorious among the public and held in high regard as a master among one or more very influential people. Everything forward is a case of expanding scope and scale, going beyond natural limits that few could conceive of.
>20
A living legend with a scant few living peers, their deeds likely well known by many, likely harnessing supernatural power and a lot of sway in the world.

Her dialogue wasn't bugged. It was that poorly written.

if i were to get one infinity engine rpg right now which should it be? i haven't played any of them and they're on sale on gog right now

BG2 is the best one in general.

BG2, no question. Most easiest to get into, great power curve, great replayability.

How familiar are you with D&D? I would recommend BG2 as it has aged arguably the best (its the blueprint of modern RPG).

But it also makes you start at level 8-10 depending on class which can be confusing if you don't know anything about D&D and what the fuck these spells do that you suddenly have multiple levels of

Play Baldur's Gate saga. Icewind Dale is a fun romp, but it's primarily a hack and slash. Planescape Torment is often highly lauded for all the writing and worldbuilding, but it's also the clunkiest of the three and hard to get into if you aren't already a storyfag or aspiring to some RPG veterancy.
If you buy any of these games on GoG you get both Enhanced and vanilla installers. If you already bought it, there's no reason not to play Enhanced Edition in 2020 (the game is actually fairly stable on the current version and a very small percentage of the QOL features, such as the instant loading times, can't be fully replicated with vanilla mods no matter how hard you try), but if you want to get rid of the content that's contentious (heh), install Disable Enhanced Edition NPCs and BGEE Classic Movies. Maybe get LeFreut's Enhanced UI because it's pretty.
Ignore Siege of Dragonspear your first time around (or completely). It was made post-factum and not by the original company, and it's, again, highly contested.
If you really mean only one game and don't want to get into the BG Trilogy, just play BG2, the intro more or less explains the events of BG1 anyway.

Someone should finally make an unapologetic animu waifu jRPG but with actual RPG mechanics.
Looks like there's market for it.

Attached: BG2 Science.png (1024x720, 626.4K)

How is BG2 the easiest to get into? It drops you into a scenario with characters you are expected to know, and assumes you can build a mid level character from scratch despite possibly never playing D&D.

BG1 is much simpler in this regard, even if it's frustrating how weak level 1 characters are

Planescape: Torment for *feels* and *experience*.
BG2 for overall quality.

I’m playing the EE or Baldur’s gate, did they make all the portraits uglier? I distinctly remember them looking better

The portraits are the same. You might be experiencing whiplash because BGEE runs at a higher resolution so stuff might be slightly upscaled.

Yes, they started using the Dragonspear portraits for the base game as well at some point.
