It wasn't, the gameplay was better than Resident Evil. It had a full 3D camera and melee weapons were actually viable

Being better than RE isn't saying much. RE had incredibly bad gameplay until 4.
Darkwood, Resident 4, 5, 6. RE2make. Dead Space 1/2. The Evil Within 1/2.
