Fair enough. While it's clear the influences (tho HK devs say they never played a souls game) they're too different to be labeled as souls.

Also I personally think Nioh is enough it's own thing to not be a souls. It feels more like your average third person medieval fantasy action game.

Exceptions are Nioh, and maaybe Code Vein. Code Vein had some interesting monsters design-wise but the cartoony artstyle prevented them from making anything truly special

I fucking love how much Nioh filters the smoothbrains. The second boss fight in Nioh 2 somehow took more patience, thoughtfulness, and button presses per second out of me than any Soulsborne boss ever has and I loved it.

user i already use number three so im gonna have to say, for me, its a based and redpilled from me

The only good one on that list is Hollow Knight and even that is more metroidvania than soulsborne.

I really wanted to like Nioh, but every boss I managed to get to felt like pulling teeth.

They would take 0.0001px damage, while killing me in 1 hit. It felt like I had to perform a perfect no hit run on every boss, and they would all take 30 minutes to whittle down.

What am I doing wrong?
Normal enemies die pretty quickly, but fuck these bosses.

If there's something I can't understand is Yas Forums's hateboner for Nioh and Code Vein.
The other Souls clones are seen with indifference and JFO is shitposted a lot due to having the EA - AAA - Star Wars trifecta of evil. Meanwhile you can't discuss Nioh or Code Vein (no idea about the Nioh 2 threads because I'm avoiding everything about the game until the PC version is released) without the threads being shitposted to death.
Nioh is fantastic and Code Vein, albeit barebones content-wise, is a good game too. You guys should get behind both titles, or simply ignore them if they aren't your cup of tea. Instead they are heavily reviled by the board.
