>AA batteries

why would you need batteries for a controller

Just make it wired then.

>terrible shoulder buttons
>terrible dpad
>shitty logo beaming into your eyes
No, it's godawful.

I've had mine plugged into my PC since I bought it. That being said I can see the argument on both sides. They should come with rechargeable batteries but they are cheap nowadays and it's very easy to replace them once they inevitably lose charging capacity compared to a PS4 controller or Switch controller. The Switch controllers in particular are a fucking bastard to disassemble without damaging them.

>manlet hands controller

You just plug in a USB cable and it's wired.

It's a great controller for everything except fighting games. I don't see how you could find an even better controller currently considering how ergonomic the thing is.

That would be the DS4

This HAHAHHAHA

>>terrible shoulder buttons
They're not though. They're actually positioned perfectly so you can reliably bump them with your knuckles while also using the triggers. It's much more comfortable than having to swap your index finger or having to use your middle finger as well.
>>terrible dpad
The position itself is awkward but the pad is great. Responsive and clicky.
>>shitty logo beaming into your eyes
It's quite dim, and certainly less of a distraction than the DS4's massive light.

The Xbox controller? Are you sure you don't mean the PS4 controller?

i barely touched my xbox since I only got it iniitally to play Halo 5, Gears 4, and Gears ultimate. Came back for Gears 5 and discovered that my RB doesn't even work anymore.

meanwhile my ps4 controller i use practically every day and got at launch STILL works and the rubber on the sticks everyone said would've peeled off by now is almost intact. i remember i went through the rubber on like 3 xbox 360 controllers by this time already (bought multiple 360s last gen for various reasons)

I have cancer hands and can use both just fine
older dualshocks are a little small.

name one (1) controller that someone above 6' can comfortably use

>They're actually positioned perfectly so you can reliably bump them with your knuckles while also using the triggers
Finally, someone who fucking gets it.

>Not buying LADDA recheargeable NiMH 2400mAh batteries and getting over 20h battery life.

Not gonna make it

my hands hurt after using any controller, except maybe for the original xbox's but it's been too long since I've used one to say
but I play on pc so I don't really care

xbox duke

I've been happily using one of these for about a year now (on PC), and I must say, it's doing everything I needed my old 360 controller to do, and with less fuss. I'm still attached to the Gamecube controller, though, so your mileage may vary.

Rechargeable AAs are better than built in batteries in every way

Now i ain no homo o nuthin lyk dat aiight. But fo real las nite i was sleepin n i heard a whispa. He say "ayo tyronius ima bleach ya booty wit ma tongue." I ain neva been so scared in ma lyf. But i ain move i was frozen senpai. I clenched ma ass shut but ya neva no da ghosts next move. Da next thang i rememba was wakin up n ma booty hole was hurtin n clean. I ain believe in no ghosts until last nite. I feel violated n i ain sleep in dat bed no mo. Has any1 else eva been raped by a ghost?

>Can't plug controller into console to recharge it
Inconvenient as fuck.

Shitty Dpad

>Have battery charger
>Buy 4 AA batteries
>Charge them all at the same time
>Use the first 2 for the controller and keep the other 2 as backup
>Get 20+ hours of battery life out of the first 2 batteries because I'm not braindead and bought high capacity NiMH batteries
>Swap the first couple with the second couple in 5 seconds
>Charge the first couple while I proceed to use the second couple for 20+ hours

Is this so hard to understand?

It sure as fuck isn't that piece of ass trash. I've never held such a horrible bumper/trigger placement in my life. I'd rather use a PS4 controller than an Xbone controller, infact that's exactly what I did for years until I discovered that the Switch Pro controller is the actual perfect successor to the godly Xbox 360 controller.

Too flimsy feeling compared to the 360 controller. That thing was a solid brick while the Xbone controller squeaks just from me gripping it.

>No gyro

That is what I do, but it's till less convenient than just plugging my controller into my console when I've finished a session.

Enjoy.

>No analog trigger
They were so close.

>takes a second to replace every month
>vs charging for an hour every few days
Sounds good to me

>It's much more comfortable than having to swap your index finger or having to use your middle finger as well.
Are you kidding? Why would I not use my middle finger on the triggers? Using your knuckles on the built in knuckle area also makes your knuckles sorer because you don't use them as often as you do your inner hand, and they require more pressure than pressing the top of them.

The guide button is also objectively inferior to the 360's because it's flush with the system making it much harder to press quickly, especially if trying to take screenshots on an Xbone.

The cable is short, flimsy and doesn't have that yank protection the 360 controller had. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

>>No analog trigger
And that's a good thing.

I find I'm more coordinated with my index fingers, and that it's easier to control the amount of pressure that way.

There is no need to use cables in the former case, and there are also the intrinsic advantages of:

>being able to remove the batteries if you plan not to play for a while
>not being forced to use a proprietary integrated lithium battery that may be a pain to replace in the future

t. XBone and DS4 owner

I've got a PS4 and use the XBone for my PC, I like both very much. In general I prefer the DS4 D-PAD and the XBone's asymmetric analog sticks.

Elaborate on that please. I'm having a hard time seeing how less functionality is a good thing.

I think I have small hands or something because the DS4 is way better than any Xbox controller

wired x360 controller 4 lyfe

>console controllers
>perfect

the purpose of such controllers is opposed to the idea of perfect control.

they are not the best possible option for anything.

anything that requires precise and/or fast cursor/camera movement
racing games
anything that requires the use of 10+ hotkeys

even fighting games have their own peripherals...

controllers are the lowest common denominator, most games can be developed in such a way that a controller can handle them, but they are never the best at what they do.

I have never seen rechargable batteries come in anything less than a 4-pack. That's just enough to have one pair charge while the other pair is being used. And you're not tethered to anything when your batteries run low.

they're basically the "cinematic action adventure" input device.

The 360 controller is way better, xbone is straight up worse. why the fuck did they put the xbox button so far up. its like they just needed to do something that looked different for the sake of it.

You know what's inconvenient, having a tiny ass battery capacity, and having to plug the cable in to play while recharging, EVERY SINGLE DAY. Then one day the battery croaks and your controller is bricked.

Meanwhile, you can just pop in a new AA battery immediately.

how is it inconvenient? takes 10 seconds to swap in a fully charged set of rechargeable batteries that last another two weeks

You on purpose omit the large amount of genres that tell you at launch "use a controlerl retard"

It's clutter. I need to keep another battery charger and another pack of batteries around the console at all times. Just let me plug it into the console. Like why can't the controller itself recharge the batteries?

>shoulder buttons
enjoy snapping them.

Even though I generally prefer the DS4 I like the xbone's dpad more.
DS4's is mushy and adjacent directions register more often than not.

They have USB ones now too.

Attached: file.jpg (1500x1500, 145.28K)

it's more clutter than having to tether your controller to your console with a wire that's now running across your carpet or whatever? and I think you are missing a large part of why AAs are better than built-in lithium batteries: capacity, much, much, much higher capacity. I can literally go weeks without having to swap the batteries in my controller.

Who's talking about running ti across the room? You just put the controller on top of the console when you're done playing.

so you have to plug in your controller after every single session, as opposed to just putting down the controller wherever you want? and that's somehow more convenient?

sounds like a real case of sour grapes to me

I'm 6'2" and i use the xbone controller with my PC all the time, I don't see the issue. and I have fairly large hands.

The majority of racing games is built with gamepads in mind you retard, wheel owners are a tiny portion of the market and catering to them requires a fuckton of extra work. Forza always felt like shit on a wheel, even despite the overhaul they had partway through FM7.

What, just leave it laying on my coffee table like a scruffbag? I put it by the console anyway, whether or not it needs charging.
I'm an idort.

I put it where I use it so I don't even have to go near the console

I find index finger only drives me up a wall, makes me less coordinated, it feels far less ergonomic personally, and it means I have to constantly swap between the shoulder buttons and triggers which is something I don't care to do. I've had to deal with it on the Switch because the cramps are unreal on the joycons if you don't use one finger and it's much harder to grip, but on PS4 and Xbone I use both the index and middle because it's simply better for me.

>not gonna make it
What does that even mean in the context of Yas Forums?

Best controller out there with retardedly long battery life. Too bad you can't use it on the Switch.

Attached: 1570191440359.jpg (500x365, 22.13K)

i find it pretty shitty that i have to move finger down to get to dpad
its rather counterintuitive imo, much easier to move finger up like on playstation's controller

>only works in wii u games
why is nintendo so fucking retarded

it's all about ergonomics, 99% of games use the left stick more than the d-pad, so the stick is in a more prominent ergonomic position

same thing with the face buttons, although an argument could be made that the right stick and buttons are both used almost equally these days

>built in batteries
>batteries die, go buy a new controller goyim
>not built in
>go buy new batteries for 5 bucks
Fuck off. There is a reason why my ps3 controller is dead and the x360 I only use for pc games works just fine
