It doesn't suck, but the fact that most buttons and specials are extremely safe on-hit make it pretty boring and shallow.
Also, dying from chip even when you Just Defend sounds more like a feature from Sailor Moon S than from a 2020 fighting game.

The game effectively costs like 40-50$ more than the ps4 version because of it. It's easily worth 40$, but I've got other games I can play if it's going to cost 80$ plus DLC

I'm not sure who the target audience is. If you want anime aesthetics and combos, you should rather play Uniclr. If you want neutral and footsies, you should rather play SamSho.
Game feels like a huge flavor of the month cashing on SF5's bad rep, and that doesn't even really work anymore since SF5 got kinda fixed.

The target audience is Granblue fans and people with little knowledge with fighting games. It's incredibly noob friendly and having skills on a whim can attract lower skill level players. I think its an alright game for anyone that doesn't really play fighting games or someone who wants to get into them but I'm also not going to ignore the fact there are much better fighting games. I just think GBVS is nice for what it is even though it should also be $40.

Yeah, they really fucked it up. When you think of how well they were doing at the start (free Season Pass, free character, sending a guy to Europe to fix the input delay on the demo), it's appalling to see them letting SamSho in the dust like that. It sucks, cause while the product is kinda bad, the game itself is amazing.
Then again the amount of people playing fighting games on PC is rarely more than 3 digits
