Only thing that worries me is the side missions, Square have always been let's say "unimaginative" with side missions ever since Crisis Core. XV is the worst in this respect but they have alawys sucked at implementing side missions.

The pacing will stop to a grinding halt once we've reached Tifa's bar. That's when the side missions will start popping up. Even Nomura admits in that the original Midgar session felt really smooth and moves in a nice pace.

it isn't episodic in the same way that The Walking Dead or Hitman is. It's more like the FFXIII trilogy. They are full length games separated by 1-2 years (...hopefully)

What do you even mean episodic? Its a full game comparable to any numbered FF title. The sequels one wont be an add on to this one, but their own game.

You are being really semantic here. What's your point? You wanted Square to remake all of FF7 before releasing it? If they tried to do it like that, it probably wouldn't even happen in the first place.

So? If you want, you're more than welcome to wait. Let people do what they want with their money. Why should you go on off a tangent to persuade, nay mock people into following your line of thought. If they ended up paying $60 and finds ~40 hours of Midgar enjoyable and is satisfactory, then more to them. If you don't want to, then wait it out.

It really was. They could have set all of the original in that setting and i would have preferred it over the comparatively bland overworld locations you visit after.

My point is I'd prefer to get a full remake than an episode of it. Obviously. My point is also that there is no denying this IS episodic, despite what some people seem to imply.

As for the game not being able to come out. SE is still a powerful company. We're not talking about a company who needs to scrap for things because they are near bankruptcy. A remake like this is guaranteed to make a profit no mater what, especially because it is actually good, and they know it is. You're out of this world if you somehow think SE is too weak to have done a full remake if they wanted to. It's just more money if you release bits instead. Shitty practice, but more money. Plus, some people will still lack enough reason to actually defend it for you on the internet.

They will add more places from the compilation, I suppose.

3 parts sounds the most logical:
- 1: Midgar
- 2: Till Aerith death
- 3: Everything else

At this pace, 5. Gonna have to wait till part 2, to see what sort of world design and detail they're adding and extra shenanigans they are adding for part 2. Will there be an elaborated sneaking part in Gongaga when Cloud was hiding behind a rubble and while listening to Scarlet talking about a big large huge MATERIA! Or an elaborate sequence to find and locate Dyne.

Demo plays fine (was worried it was going to be another Hold O fest like XV) but I don't like how SE keeps on hardly mentioning that it's just Part 1.

Didn't they say that they're not really making next gen exclusive for quite a while since the PS4 has a pretty big install base. They probably also have insider knowledge at how expensive next gen consoles are and expects that in the first two years, it'll probably won't have a big install base. Like Japan was very reluctant to buy the PS4 on release, an even more expensive console would probably be a big wall for them to start jumping to next gen a.s.a.p. Unless, Sony paid them again, to make timed exclusives for the PS5 next time.
