add in dating sim elements, obviously
Less obscure mechanics and pointless backtracking
Better bosses, half of them are pretty meh
If you have the original Hollow Knight, it should take advantage of it and do an &Knuckles thing where you can play the original Hollow Knight with Hornet. And maybe play Silksong with the Knight.
Less backtracking would also be a big boon in my eyes.
Maybe at least having the objectives not on opposite sides of the entire map in alternating order. Once the map opened up, it was a lot more tedious.

The game's a solid 9/10, but I did feel like putting it down a few times due to traversing the fuck out of the map.
Make the ability order more flexible
Better fast travel, more dynamic combat options than "attack button"
ability to pick your gender and pronouns like in shovel knight
One of the achievements should be picking the wrong gender and killing yourself
