I've been on several and all are filled with transfags. Often transfags going full lefty/pol/, too.

They hoarded a ton of rare stuff that either wasn't publically available in scanned form (obscure artbooks/manga) or self-scanned, also high quality rips of anime DVDs/VHSes that wasn't too common back then and wouldn't be for another couple of years.
I played their stupid game, bided my time, then torrented all of it for a while (they encouraged members to do this so that the files wouldn't be lost due to hardware failure which did happen before) and then I dumped the whole thing (hundreds of GBs split up into multiple torrents) on another site using the name of one of the 'council members'.

The drama was swift and immediate, suspicion immediately fell on the council member whose name I appropriated, but they of course denied it. The more reasonable people pointed fingers at the newer members and the admin responded by banning the entire invite trees of the people who had sponsored myself and the other person who was accepted with me. This of course wiped out a huge portion of the group, and the infighting and bickering eventually caused the group to implode on itself, killing the secret club and caused the admin and all but one staffer to leave the site for good, and the site itself died shortly after.

A lot of that stuff wasn't available anywhere else and it got spread far and wide. Of course, a lot of it was ancient scans from the late 90's and the rips were terrible compared to nowadays but at the time this was a pretty big boon to the anime sharing community. Much of it has been superceded by more recent, better raws/scans and rips in the intervening years obviously, so it's unlikely you can even find the original versions anymore.
