user it was a reference to a /lit/ meme. Also in the end Laphicet abandons the name Velvet gave him in favor of the one Eleanor gave him, Artorius's teachings regarding humans using malakhim end up being "correct" given the themes of Zestiria as the many over the one, and Velvet never corrects the fuck-ups she made herself, not to mention that the demon crisis never gets totally resolved like with Rokurou. Also the last image doesn't show Laphicet happy, it shows him staring forlornly as Velvet and Laphi get their happy ending. Not to mention the game has a whole sequence in Velvet's home village revolving about how illusions of happiness suck, but despitet this Velvet's ending is a happy fake illusion? Should've ended with Velvet being willing to sacrifice herself bu Laphicet uses his epic silver flame to make all demons humans and all malakhim wh are reincarnations of humans also humans. Then Rokurou has to do something that isn't continuing to murder everyone and actually gets character development, Eizen becomees captain of the Van Eltia, etc. instead of the current ending that basically reverts to the status quo with no one giving a shit about Velvet in the last cutscene. Also Laphicet should've grown up and impregnated Velvet.
And on top of everything else, Laphicet is a fucking dick in Zestiria who ends up absorbing some teenaged boy to sleep with forever in order to not be corrupted instead of doing the same with Vevlet who can LITERALLY eat malevolence and corruption, so what gives.

I appreciated Laphicet's dedication to her when no one else was, enough to melt her heart and help her develop into a happier self. I wanted them to be happy together, whether romantically or otherwise, but that wasn't my biggest problem with the ending.

I wanted to see Velvet let go of her brother after all of that character development and realising that other people can love her even as she is. I wanted to see her go fix the mistakes she made instead of leaving it to other people. Instead her endng is just MUH BROTHER again. Should've been its own thing.
