If you're on console, the Tempered Zin event quest poops out good decos.
Just got a Critical/Medicine, and I got Tenderizer/Vit from it as well.
If you're on PC, the best thing right now is just tempered tier 3 investigations until the event Zinogre comes out.

For savage axe focused gameplay what skills should I be going for?

Quick question; I just passed MR100 this weekend and got through some Tempered GL hunts to get my armor augmented and get Health Regen on my weapon.

That said, I need some non-Tempered Ruiner parts and I wanna know how best to get him to spawn in GL. I assume I don't want to go all the way to Level 7, correct? To avoid having his tempered form spawn?

You'd need him to spawn in an area lower than 7.
You can also use the tempered drops to meld the non-tempered ones.
If you have lures, just summon him to any region not at 7.

This coming Thursday. Just like consoles, the first week is a Recon quest to give you an idea of the fight's mechanics.

Oh shit, didn't know that about melding. Do I have to have fought his non-Tempered form for that? I haven't yet unfortunately.

Do you use his Tempered parts for anything important?

The roasted meat of the Chef back in Astera looks way, way tastier than this soup and sauce-drowned probably-still-raw and cat hair-infested garbage.

I will say that I love HOW traditional he looks. Even the more western dragons in MH (Fatalis, Kush) tend to have something that still sets them apart as distinctly Japanese. I like that Safi is essentially an archetypal dragon.

console anons how is the full fight? I found the recon fight really easy and I'm kinda worried. Does it get harder in the real fight or is it just a longer recon version of the recon?

How is Fatalis Japanese at all?

I'm not sure. Pretty sure you don't need to fight the base form but I haven't done GL shit in awhile.
Heres a chart for what upgrade takes what part so you can figure out what you want/need
I'd recommend having Coral/Volcanic/Tundra areas at 7 to cover all the important shit except brapveil

Recon is much easier.
Safi isn't that hard though. I find it a really enjoyable fight but as long as your team isn't eating glue all fight you shouldn't have too much issues.
Unless you bring a joke weapon like IG or something with range issues like SNS then it can be hard to hit the fucker cause he moves around a lot

Why cant you remove everything from the hotbar?
I just want traps on it since those cant be used from hotkeys for some reason even though im playing on keyboard.

The extra horns, large "tusks" in his mouth, extra long neck, etc. Just additional flare that comes off to me as Japanese sty;ed.

I was expecting to have tedious runs with Safi, but I was surprised by how many actual good players I met along the way.
>Those two Gunlance fags putting the explosive barrel on the same part and breaking it in no time
>That shieldfag taking the aggro when it's meant for someone else by unloading their slinger in Safi's face
>Those LS/GS fags focusing the tail until it's cut
>Those LBG/HBG and hammer fags focusing on the head for maximum stun damage
>Everyone spamming life powder when someone gets caught up in that Safi animation that leaves you at 1 HP and burning if you don't have 20+ fire res
Some hunts with randos are truly nice.

Is there an updated version of this chart with the Tundra region mats?

I've had some very good experiences with Safi.
The craziest team I had was so clean and efficient we completely drained the 3rd area on the first run.
We probably could have just killed it outright in one try if we stayed together. I love playing with groups where they're doing enough damage it isnt always me pulling Safis aggro.

You can set traps to your hotbar user. Make sure you're not setting the "craft trap" option

Not that I've seen.
All you need to know is Tempered Stygian is used for adding the 3rd augment slot on tier 12 weapons so you need that shit.

Most hunters who've been around since launch know how the siege/raid rodeo goes. They've certainly had enough practice with KT, all the AT monsters, extremoth, and ancient leshen.

I want them on hotkeys/radial menu.
